news for commuters tonight. to both amtrak and mark brunswickrs service will be disuh-uhedisuh tomorrow as a result of this th freight train derailment. take a look, the trains off the tracks behind me. beh you can also see crews working to try to get those cars flippea up right and moved out of thehe way. 14 of the 175 railcars from the csx freight train derailed early this morning. no evacuations or injuries were reported and now the federal railroad administration is investigating why the train carrying hazardous materials derailed. one of the cars was leaking sodium hydroxide liquid whichhih was flammable and hazardous. that leak was plugged. a second car was leaking ethanol. that leak was contained and csx says a third train was leaking non hazardous

and that leak was plugged shortly after the derailment happened this morning. the hazmat cleanup of the sodium hydroxide continues tonight. itself it's a 15,500-gallon tanker. we believe that about half off that had leaked into the rail bed and into the gravel and g ground underneath it and they'rt currently assessing all of thatf to figure out what needs to be dug out in order to make sure it's all captured. since the derailment earlier today, officials have been on on the scene and monitoring the aih quality in and around the scene and at h this point we have discovered no air quality issues. likewise, we have been monitoring any impacts on water. we have not determined any issues with the water related tl the spill, either. e in terms of timeline for the cleanup we don't yet have a specific estimate. we're dog as much as we can, but safety is a first priority. so making sure that the action t plan that we develop in in conjun

organizations prioritizes the safety the first responders andd also the surroundingurr communities. so we understand that this is aa significant inconvenience to th commuters and to this community so weth are working as quickly s we can with safety as the first priority. this derailment happened near the rhode island metro station e and disrupted service on the redline all day long. i spoke to a spokesperson withih metro about half an hour ago and he tells me he hopes that the redline service will return to normal tomorrow morning but heu advises commuters to check in ch the morning before heading out to catch their metro train. all right.l ri we're turning now to the the forecast and taking a life look outside. another drearily soggy and cooln day here in the district. some storms have started to shos up on the radar. ra gwen standing by to take a look at that.hat. you're absolutely right. we had añws÷ couple of warnings earlier just expired actuallyste

a body was found in a ditch near lake rich park friday and police think it's that of listette lopez. she was last seen april 17 walking into a cvs store in lake ridge. police are investigating the death as a homicide. ho and in fairfax county police are investigating the death of a man found floating in a creek in falls church.s c a passerby saw this body this morning on dash erial road and a called police. investigators have not yet ye identified the man. the body will be taken to a t medical examiner's office and an autopsy will be conducted to determine whether the man's death was accidental or the or result of foul play.lay. a man post office pointed the gun at a baltimore policepoli officer is in critical conditioi right now the man walked up too an officer sitting in his patrol car and pointed the nine millimeter handgun at him. the officer fired through therog window and struck the man. he was taken to the hospital for treatments, the man's gun was not loaded. thats of oner was not hurt. also in baltimore, the city's police commissioner says a 13 year old

investigating why the 175 car te train derailed and we do not have good news for commuters. amtrak, capital limited and mark brunswick train service will bee disrupted tomorrow because thosu trains share the same tracks as a freight train that derailed. no evacuations or injuries were reported, but hazardous materiah was spilled presenta one of thef train cars. a total of three cars had leaks, including the hazardous t sodium hydroxide as well as ethynol and a non-hazardous calcium chloride. now, tonight the hazmat cleanup continues. 15,500-gallon tanker, we believed that about half of thaf had leaked into the rail bed, into the gravel and ground gr underneath it and they're currently assessing all of thatf to figure out what needs to beee dug out in order to make sure it's all captured. since the derailment earlier
