it more uniques as we've beeneen talking about not only because e it's so close in our community, but at the same time think about the areas where these guys were perpetrated. it was near a school. it was near a mall. these are places that all of usf go or have been in the place's past. these are places where we feel so safe. we had the opportunity to talk t to did you earlier this did afternoon as all of this was unfolding. there were a couple of thingspl that struck me about this situation. it seemed that yesterday thehe shooting at the high school was a targeted attack, awful awf obviously shooting his estranges wife. today, as of now we still don't -- there's nothing tohing indicate that he knew the people that he shot at today. maybe something will come out later, but we don't know. isn't that odd that one person would have a target shooting one day, the next day random shootings. >> sure. from a classificationion perspective we would call this a mixed classification

where the first act seemed to bo kind of very planned out. the gentleman seemed to live int the general area so because of that he knew his surrenderringsr likely knew the schedule of hish estranged wife, where she was going to be, being at the the school, et cetera. now on the second day there is s something that we refer to as decomposition. and decomposition basically bas means when you have this kind of dramatic act with whether you at were the victim of it or the perpetrator of it, when thishis often happens you almost loose o yourself a bit as it were. there were some evidence that suggests that he may have thoughts of self harm. we things like this happens ha oftentimes there's a senseç off almost wanting to be caught. does that sort of play into then fact that we know or police sayc after the shooting was exited in the aspen hill area he stayed in that area. he went to dunkin' donuts, he went to boston market. we saw him walking to his car right acss

the shooting happened with a bag of left officer.t what does that tell you aboutl this man?an? >> at a very leashly pace as as well. this wasn't a gentleman who was really rushing to be able to gea to a ex look, running to get too his car, looking around him, what's going on, are there any surveillance cameras that i should take note of it. it could be a situation of s almost wished to be apprehendedr it could be due to this kind of decomposition. we call it regressing. regressing back insofar as thinking to one self i'm going to focus on me and my personal m needs and any of these actions t that i have that are outside of myself i can basically relinquish any blame becausesh a it's not really mean into he that's doing it. i've been made the victim now i can make other people the victims.s. he's in police custody being questioned of course.of they want to know thehe particulars about why he did did this and all that type of thing. is it

be trying to evaluate his mentae status as -- over the past couple of weeks since the actioe was taken against him at work wo and the last couple of days asas well. >> certainly it seems like nowsm in terms of moving forward thatr there is likely to be some kindi of a criminal trial, some kind, of a process that will be gone through. and an essential part of any kind of criminal justice proceedings when it comes to com these kind of criminal charges is to evaluate mental state at the time of the instant. to be able to evaluate if thisvu individual at the time of the incident knew at the time rightm or wrong. wro were they in their right time at the time that they were criminally responsible for theie behavior and an essential part s of this entire process of coursf is what's called a mental statet evaluation. so certainly in terms testifys diagnostics there will be somewl kind of a process that will go through.th my 10 year old called me just au short time ago.time he's concerned. he was in one of the schools that was originally put on locko down and he
