here's the story. >> sarah, this man is actually facing 21 criminal charges including attempted murder and when you order an uber and get in one, sometimes you may find yourself with, well a rude driver. what you don't expect is to be riding with a convicted fell felon. >> would you expect him to have an extensive felony record. >> jonathan hemming was until recently an uber driver for the d.c. area and also a convicted felon in ohio and florida. >> of course there's a degree of prescreening that is important part of that. but, the technology is designed to ensure that before during and after the trip, people have a way to access and get in touch and feel safe whenever they need to. >> uber won't say how long he drove for the company or if customers felt safe with him as their driver, but just last weekend the landlord's car he sometime

tish a. what happened. >> well, tony, it was very disturbing as you mentioned these guys essentially burst in the home and robbed the place and sexually assaulted one of the women now. this is news relief they sent to media organizations and in a perfect world there would be an update saying there's a suspect description or they neighborhood someone at this point. unfortunately that is not the case. to make matters even worse, these two suspects are at large and on the run. >> came out on the back of her deck and that door over there, with the three glass panels, i hear somebody hitting the glass. i look down, and the poor woman that lives there, got duct tape on her mouth. >> he found his neighbor bound and gagged and her eyes said it all. >> ape looked into her eyes and she was horified. >> police say two women and three young children were home en two men

victims that are rattled, shaken and changed for life. >> and we posted this story on our "fox5" d.c. facebook page and there's two questions that kept popping up a lot of you wanted to know how did the burglars get in the house police say they broke in through the backdoor and many asked if these women were targeted and right now based on their investigation the victims did not know the suspects. tisha lewis, "fox5 local news". a 7-year-old montgomery country boy is getting high praise for his bravery after an an armed robbery in silver spring and it was all caught on surveillance video. before 9 p.m. friday two men walked into the gamestop store armed with handguns and watch the video closely. we'll play this several times here. you see the 7-year-old fight off one of the robbery suspect who tried to grab him. and now, i spoke with the boy's father today, who does not want to be identified, and he says he and his wife were separated from their son when the suspects

and they ordered two clerks the boy's parents and boy to get down behind the counter and to get on the floor. the boy's father says he did not realize his son had tried to fight back until the whole encounter was over. >> we deposit completely understand why. of course we think our son is brave and a strong kid. but we didn't exactly know why. he saw somebody who was a straichker or looked dangerous to him and he tried to defend himself. i think it's his natural insikt taking over there. >> the father you heard from there was already behind the counter and did not see the son fight back. the gunman got away with items and undisclosed amount of cash. if you have any information about the robbery give police a call, tony. . >> d.c. police force continued to shrink fewerer than 3800 officers were on the force. it is smallest number in more than a decade. mayor muirial bowser has a plan

she's preparing to ask the city council for more money to offer a financial incentive to get identifies eligible to retire to stay. and the mayor wants to offer senior officer salaries that range from 68 to 166,000 dollars and that's equivalent to what assistant chief now makes. >> we have right now only 40 senior police officers and so this is a tool that we have that's a very strong enticement to be able to bring back often recently retired officers and who love being cops and who would rather be a cop than take any other of the retired job officers typically get. >> the force is 3750 officers and the goal is to get the size of the force back up to 4,000. >> new tonight a somb

i'll tell you something else i heard at the game a lot today. people were saying it's so hot. you knew it it would only take two hot days before we collapsed and you know what it s. no time to get used to. it we go from 50s and low 60s to 80s and people were absolutely warm out there and it's still kind of mild out there tonight. we're at 69 degrees. fredericksburg still 73. 67 martinsburg. check out what to expect tomorrow. you know it was hot today. it will feel hotter tomorrow. now we'll start adding a little humidity. you may not have realized it humidity was low today. it will feel a little bit different to you tomorrow. so to give you some idea as we pay attention to the due point they'll be rising tomorrow and we get up to about 65 and the dew point department and it start to got a little uncomfortable. so expect that to also be a day in which you have to kind of pace yourself a little bit. what to expect tomorrow morning. 64 to 72 degrees at the bus stop. warm morning may be a patch or two of fog and not

not sexually abuse. we reached out to the dull pepper county sheriff's office and they tell us there are no criminal charges filed against anyone. they also say a criminal case was never even on and still those students were suspended for 364 days and that's why these parents aout here protesting now they say the punishment does not fit the crime and 12 baseball and football players at culpeper country high school who are fresh men, sophomores and juniors were suspended for an entire year. parents say there were several different incidents that happened in the locker room and they described them as rough housing. however, they say the school district told them it was sexual assault. and that is why the students were suspended. and the school district did not make any sort of comment to "fox5" for our story. other than the disagreement over exactly

parents are upset that all the incidents are being lumped together and all the students are receiving the same punishment. some of those parents talked to "fox5" and they did not want their faces shown because they're afraid the school district will retalliate. >> they had taken a how would you say it? rough housing? to a level that it deposit need to go to. these kids are kids. they -- no one hurt anybody. >> and it's just a little harsh how they're treating kids. >> the received placed in front of us and doesn't command the type of sentence they've gotten or the type of punishment they've gotten. if there's something more serious out there then yes we want to prosecute by justice and law system and not by the school administrators. >> and again the culpeper county public school district declined to comment. and many of the parents ever the students who were suspended say they have hired lawyers and are in the process of appeal

for memorial day i would say things might look better than they did yesterday. we'll still go for 80. we'll still call for scattered thunderstorms and let me tell you what the big player is for memorial day. high pressure off the coast for the first part of the weekend we should number good shape. app a little bit of tropical moisture may get pulled into the southeastern united states. maybe it stays south of us. we do know there could be some kind of disturbance developing in the southeastern atlantic and we'll have to watch that. right now, not expecting anything major. maybe just a little bit of moisture that gets pulled in or perhaps stays south. it is worth mentioning to let us know that's something we're watching for memorial day. right now we'll say 50/50 chance of afternoon thunderstorms and showers. speaking of showers, 1 pbg tomorrow not a lot to see. a few maybe by 5:00. stronger chance out to the west where we could see maybe one or two showers. storms might have a little small hail with them and nothing severe expected. and by 11:00 we're just linge
