feeling like you just couldn't get a break all day long with the rain, the lightning and in some cases hail and thunderstorm wind damage. here's what's left, much quieter than we were on the ai3 at 6:00. north and west of frederick county down through only about as north of gaithersburg. gai those are light showers. through winchester area you still have some heavy rain and possibly some lightning in there but that's about it.ut the front will cross through over the next couple of hours and the storms should hopefully be a memory by tomorrow. the flooding that we're going to get to in n a minute with sarah. flash flooding was a problem because of this one to three too four inches of rain that fell ta very quickly. storm reports, they are numerous across the area and no one was s spared. especially off towards our norts when we saw the first round of o severe weather we did have a tornado warning for

county, no confirmed tornado but straight line wind damage can dn the same thing. this is from glenn element we saw the tree through the home. multiple trees twisted around the city and multiple tree limbe down as well. just south of colombia dozens of tree limbs five to six inches blocking roads. like i said we saw a couple rounds that also brought up to golf size hail reports. look at annandale, water ten inches flowing over woodburne oe road. we had a few road closures we had airport delays. there is reston most of you did see that. it was trying to be outdoors. we also saw a bunch of beautiful sunset and rainbow pictures. the of like i said we're just w' about out of it. wednesday looking much calmer and we are all lo

to that forecast because we certainly need it to try out. what was not dry was for the th metro stations around the area including cleveland park in d.c. earlier tonight. the video and the pictures i saw from that looked absolutelyly frightening for anyone who was riding metro at this point. absolutely, caitlyn. that's the he pit my of flash flooding right there. it doesn't happen on the roadwaa it can happen on the cleveland metro stop. you can take a look behind me.d this is where the area that wast under quite a about it of water, they had the escalator closed down. we have seen crews down there th working on that. they're probably going to beoing working on that whether or notee the escalator itself will be wi open is the question for rush hour, but rail service was never impacted metro was telling us u during the flash flooding. they simply closed the metro met stop out of abundance of caution because they didn't want people to walk down through here thr through all the

howard county these pictures just across from glenn ill high school can see the tree up rooted slice the house nearly in half and then that tree came tr crashing down, the front driveway finally sitting at rest over a car that it completely demolished. you can see sky fox pictures there giving you a better bet picture of a better sense of how bad and how severe the damage ii there in howard county. throughout that area we saw power lines down, traffic lights out, tree limbs, tree split andd debris nearly every where. we drove throughout this afternoon. the national weather service we here in the baltimore d.c. area telling fox5 tonight that they have so much work on their handh that simply at this they cannot send an inspector out to howard county to confirm whether, in fact, there was a tornado that touched down in that area. life tonight in rockville, marina maracco, fox5 local news.

while we've seen plenty floodede roads tonight earlier we saw some water spilling in a fame fa lose capital hill building. we're told a pipe burst inside the ray burn house building. this happened above the fourth floor. water was gushing in the hallways, elevator shafts and ad stairwells. part of the fourth floor lost its lights, but it doesn't appear any offices were damaged. no one was hurt. workers are now replacing that busted pipe. out of prince george's county, police were investigating the attempted kidnapping of a seven year old by. it happened earlie. this morning i on fairmont heights. a man tried to pull a child outi of his bedroom window as he was sleeping. the child woke up and called his parents. they rushed in to help. they pulled the window and was d pulling my son through the window and my son was mom, tell him to stop me. he thought it was his uncle un playing. he said, mom, tell him to stop trying to pull me through the window. she ll

an internal investigation isl underway tonight to determineto how law enforcement officials lost track of a man with a prosthetic leg who was facing gun charges. even though the man had benefited with a gps monitoring device police say he managed tog kill someone. fox5's paul wagner reports. when investigators showed up in the 800 block of southern avenue southeast morning of may 19 thef had little to go on, no suspects, no motive untilntil someone called in to say they needed to take a hard look at a man named quincy green, a man who walked with a limp, had a prostheses and had been seen on the very block where he was tols not to go after his arrest. police checked camera footage from the surrounding area and ad according to a nine-page court affidavit saw the gunman who had an obvious limp.imp. they filed a search want and

residence recovered from a boxox in the living room, a prosthetic leg with a gps device attached,a a device records show barelybare moved and a 72-hour period. very simply, it was humanerror. cliff keen and is the directorhe of the pretrial services area for the district of columbia the agency that monitors defendantst facing charges in court. the contractor who we have con tracted with for services include putting onto the the individual defendants the actual gps bracelet and one would assume that the person doing the installation would know not too put it onto a prosthetic devise. we don't know what the companyte has been able to find out about how this happened under these particular circumstances butes b it's clear that it was a violation of protocols. the district did away with cash bond years ago and instead defendants are now release onon their own

gps device he was supposed to bo wearing was somewhere else. paul wagner, fox5 local news. police tell us they are still trying to determine a motive for the killing.the a popular dv radio host was arrested for allegedlyly assaulting his estranged wife. to his fans he's known as cane,s the host of the cane show on who the 995fm. his real name is peter dean letter. the incident happened nearly a month ago but police arrested him friday after his estranged wife got a judge to issue a want for his arrest. she claims that cane grabbed her forcibly lifted her off the ground and threw her into a wall. we're just following department policy, advised the victim, she elected to pursue charges to go to the district courtt commissioner's office.ice. at this point montgomery county police still have not charged him. we have not charged him with anything. police say natasha went to the court to obtain those charges os her o

lindsay watts, fox5 local news. > we're following several newol developments in thelo orlandorln nightclub shooting. earlier today state troopers removed the fence they put upput around the pulse nightclub. it was put in place after the shooting. they did leave a make shift memorial to the 49 and the more than 50 others who were hurt. us attorney general loretta lynch visited orlando today. they said they may never find a motive. the gunman may have visited the pulse nightclub in the past or was possibly gay. i cannot tell you definitivelyen that we'll ever narrow it done to one motivation. this was clearly an act of terror and an act of hate.ate. lynch says investigators will go back and see if there was anything that the feds could fe have missed or could have done better to determine that the shooter was a threat.hre metro says so far so good inood phase 2 of its save track plan a and transit officials say thesay repairs are even ahead of schedule.
