sterling. this incident all started last night outside convenience store in ballet on rouge, selling cd's outside convenience store, they received anonymous call sailing sterling threatened someone with a gun. we warn but to show you portion of the cell phone video that appears to show two officers pink sterling down on the grounds before officer takes out his gun and fires. take a look. >> now, we pause the video bus off officers fire the first shot, several more shouts are heard on the video and the camera cuts away, see the protest in baton rouge last night, they continued throughout the day as news of the shooting and the video spread, police are maintaining sterling was armed, the convenience store owner told baton rouge tv station sterling did not have a gun in his hands at the time but claims he saw officers removing one from sterling's pocket after the shooting. alton sterling's family spoke during news conference calling him devoted father to his five children.

he works here athen gin 23, in foggy bottom, on the campus of george washington university. this is what we know from sources. that around midday today, norman brooks, went on facebook, and made a rant, basically, typed out a rant, angry at police officers, and basically telling people that they needed to take up arms against racist cops. a person who actually viewed that rant was so disturbed by it, that person picked up the call, phone, and called dc police. they ghana investigation, they called dc fire, and notified them about what had happened. they immediately took norman brooks off the street, he's now on administrative leave, under investigation, by dc police. we have a copy of the rant that norman brooks placed on facebook. let's show it to you now. he writes first: bottom line, these racist expletive cops who are murdering our people need to start turning up the same way. they shouldn't feel safe walking the streets and neither should their supporters.

it makes us all look like a bunch of expletives. these evil expletives don't have any compassion. they're going to let them pigs go free and probably start a gofundme and make them millionaires. time to stop praying, stop protesting, start buying guns, and start protecting ourselves from these crooked racist cops. if you are a cop and are not in support every these people, then it is about time to start turning these type of expletives in or at least given out some addresses, so we, the people, can handle them. ends of rant. please share, but then he goes on to say the answer is yes. i'm saying the citizens should take the law in their own hands, and target racist cops. those pigs in baton rouge deserve nothing short of a bullet in their heads, see how their families feel after that. >> placed on facebook by norman brooks, earlier today, someone saw

police. the dc fire department does have a social media policy that basically says you can not post anything on there that would reflect negatively on the dc fire department. we'll have more on this story later on at 6:00 tonight. live outside engine 23, paul wagner, fox5 local news. hey, paul, i'm curious what kind of response you're getting from the fire department tonight, if you tried to get in touch with the firefighter who made that rant on line? >> we've not got never touch with the firefighter, laura, we did get a statement from dc fire saying that they were made aware of this earlier today, and that they immediately took action. they do confirm that he is under investigation by dc police, as well as dc fire internal affairs. they take this very seriously, basically all of the information they put out in a statement. did say this this firefighter has been on the job since 2007. and works here at this station in foggy

>> paul, thank you. >> so much anger. tonight police in fairfax county are investigating after a bullet was fired through the window of a child's bedroom. fox5's lauren demarco live in hearnden with the very latest on that, lauren? >> laid, along monahan drive, and in this neighborhood there are so many children, we're standing here, kids walking by with their families headed home from the pool or from playing activities. you can imagine that they are rattled after. >> this take a look at the video. a bullet went right through the window of a seven year old girl, around 10:30 last night, now, she is on a corner unit of these row homes. and they are sort after small field, clearing, behind that unit, so there are some people is the thought, people hanging out possibly back there, not sure if it was accidental or what may have happened, but gunshot went off, the family tells me that they heard, they thought at least seven shots fired. they thought that there was

back there, but police say at this point that's all under investigation. we of course know it was at least this one shot fired. the bullet went through a little girl's bedroom window, her mom just spoke to us about it, take a listen to that. >> she is okay now, but she was scared that night because she had so much questions, she was on the bed, when we hear, she say, mommy, what is that? i told her maybe fireworks? and she goes close to the window and when she was close to the window, we hear the louder noise on the bedroom and i seen she broke something, and when i go check, we -- i saw the hole in the window. >> reporter: just spoke to that little girl a few moment ago, again, she is seven years old, has just tiny scratch on her arm. but she certainly was scared. last night they didn't even want her to sleep in her bed. they had to put her in another part of e

the ground. very frightening for this family. the father tells me he is looking into moving. they don't want to stay here. again, police looking for who ever fired this weapon. they have been canvassing, going door-to-door. they do have the bullet, they are examining the bullet, but of course can't match it if they don't have the gun. so they need to investigate this. we'll have an update for in you our next hour, that's the latest here in hearnden, lauren demarco, fox5 local news. >> high et cetera ville man faces multiple charges tonight after he led police on high speed chase through two north carolina counties. thirty-two year old collide laurence wanted out of maryland and dc, committed strong armed robbery and stabbed a police officer who confronted him about shoplifting. gas station clerk called police yesterday morning, when he spotted laurence sitting in his car in pine level, north carolina. an officer who approached the car noticed several knives, and whether he asked laurence for id he sped off leading police on the chase through raleigh. laurence faces multiple

procession, driving while impaired, and hit-and-run. >> maryland court has ruled adults who host parties with under age drinking can be held liable in civil lawsuits for injuries caused by a drunk guest. the ruling by the maryland caught of appeals was unanimous. the decision allows two lawsuits brought by victims of drunk driving incidents to move forward now. this is the first time the court of appeals recognized the liability a party hoses for alcohol-related injuries or deaths, caused by their under age guests. experts say, the memorial bridge will have to close to traffic within five years, unless it gets $250 million overhaul. the feds have take answer major step toward that goal. the department of transportation is pitching in $90 million, and that grant will allow construction to begin early next year. no word yet on plans to pay for the remaining $160 million. inspectors call the 84 year old bridge structurally

wal-mart. several groups including the washington teachers union and the employment justice center are asking wal-mart to avoid giving any more money to the gopn november wal-mart gave $15,000 to the republican national convention's planning committee. the anti-trump campaign also has an on line petition. so far, it has more than 14,000 signatures. fbi director james comey will explain his recommendation, not to prosecute hillary clinton, for miss handling classified information. he's going to explain that to lawmakers tomorrow. comey agreed testify before the house oversight committee. yesterday, he delivered a skating criticism of clinton for using a private e-mail account while serving as secretary of state. he said it was extremely careless, but did not rise to the level of a crime. a little annoyed you represent susan after i endorsed her opponent, but there is hope, so, i'm great.

district, feels like 100 in fredericks berg, 95 for gaithersburg and frederick in terms every cooling storm just not looking like it will be in the cards for us, we had few thunderstorms yesterday, that really lingered into deposit add lot of cooling rain down toward stafford, everything kind of further south, and the triggers, there is one, in the higher elevations out to the west, there might be slight chance that you could have a shower or storm tonight. but i would say the chances are pretty slim here locally for us to see anything from 94 to maybe 89 degrees if we can cool off fast enough by 7:00. by 9:00, 84, got to be hard to play baseball, i know the nats had 4:00 game. they are toughing it out as are the fans this this heat. eleven temperature 81, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, if you are not a big fan of summer weather will be even hotter tomorrow make sure to take frequent brakes if you have to be spends ac loft

we are break with breaking news out of alexandria virginia, right now battling three alarm fire at a restaurant in the delray neighborhood. >> flames broke out about an hour ago, at al's steak how the mount vernon avenue. we want to get right to fox5 matt ackland with the latest on what's happening. >> hi, sarah, lauren, to update you on the information, not battling the fire any longer it, has been put out for probably about a half hour now since we've been here on the scene but the reason they brought so many firefighters here, the fear chief told me it is because it is so hot outside, that they had to rotate people through. take a

is where it happened basically in the delray neighborhood. it is called al's steak house, here is the thing, al's steak house just reopened today apparently had been a long time business in this area, closed last year when the owner passed away, some some new owners pick it up, they renovated it, and then today they opened it up a lot of people were there, apparently, this was somewhere on the roof guerdoning, hearing no one injured, saw the fire quick enough, were able to get outside. and you can see what al's looks like right now, the damage not too terribly bad. but there were some firefighters on the scene today number of them because so many firefighters needed to rotate the fire fighters and out because of the heat

>> new tonight, howards county police need your help finding a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in laurel. police have issued arrest warrant for tennis addition, jr., the shooting happened saturday at the turf motel on washington boulevard. police found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. the woman died at the hospital, the man is expected to survive. they believe digs new the victim. also, new tonight, man killed in a police involved shooting in the district has been identified. monday night, police were called when a crowd was setting off fireworks on 49th street in northeast. when they arrived, they say a man holding a
