block from his home, seth rich's murder rattled the community. marina mar rack company was live on the scene. >> i understand neighbors say crime seems to be getting worse. >> reporter: it has been, that's when neighbors here say, tony and it's been several months in the making. yesterday, seth rich was walking a block in his house crossing the crosswalk, shot right there where you see those flowers now a small memorial start to be built here just a block away from his house. now, neighbors here say there's a point of concern in this entire neighborhood and it's been those construction sites you see just a half block of the way. several people we spoken with here today say in recent days, there have been armed robberies and they say potentially the murder could have been hiding there yesterday. police and cadets have saturated this northeast dc neighborhood. handing out flyers and hoping for a break in the case of a recent murder

this community. >> it's like i think we're in a state of shock because of the death of this young man. >> reporter: neighbors in this section have been living in fear. >> people used to feel very at ease until this period last five, six months. >> reporter: one of them, 27-year-old seth rich an employee of the democratic national economy was didn'ted down early sunday a block away from his house in what investigators believe could have been a robbery attempt, although nothing stolen. a heard gun fire and alerted police. no one witnessed. neighbors here say the violence has spiked especially near these construction zones. where dc water has been working on flood relief. last week, a howard student was robbed at gunpoint. >> i was walking to this construction area and as soon as i got into the construction area, there was a spot that walked past me on my left. as soon as he passed me, the shooter came out of the backache the construction and put it to my face

street. fbi confirmed two service weapons fully loaded were reportedly stone yesterday morning. here's the area where this all happened. the 800 block of 7th street northeast. the fbi vehicle a ford expedition was parked on that street. and according to their report, the weapons were in a secure lock box inside the vehicle. at some point yesterday morning while the suv was parked on this block, an unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger window stealing the lock box with the guns inside. both the fbi and dc police are investigating this theft right now. it's unclear if the fbi employee involved in this is on administrative leave because of it. the bureau will not comment because it's an internal personnel matter they say. it's also unclear if leaving a loaded weapon inside a lock box in an unattended car is against standard operating procedure. also why didn't the fbi notify the public? we reached out t

says they can say little about the case since it is an ongoing investigation. tony? developing tonight in michigan, two bail lives and a gunman are dead after a shooting at a courthouses around 2 and this afternoon. authorities say an inmate grabbed a gun from an officer as he was being moved from a holding cell. the gunman also shot a deputy sheriff and a civilian, they're both expected to recover. >> don't have all the details about what happened, what occurred or how he got the weapon. we will be investigating that along with the homicide task force, the sheriff's department along with other detectives from other departments. >> so far no word on a motive for shooting. a top prosecutor in baton rouge is recusing himself from the investigation into the shooting death of alton sterling. today, east baton rouge damage revealed he's had a long-time personal relationship with the pare

officers involved in that deadly shooting. two white police officers shot sterling as they wrestled with him while he was on the ground outside a convenience store. sterling's death sparked protests in baton rouge that led to more than 100 arrests. we're learning more tonight about the dallas police shootings. investigators say the gunman was planning a larger scale attack. he was on second floor of a community college when he was killed, not the parking garage as police previously described. investigators found the letters rb written on the wall in blood at the crime scene. however, they are not sure what those letters mean. today, one of the surveillances who treated the injured officer shared the impact the shootings are having on him. >> i understand the anger and the frustration and disrupt of law enforcement. but they're not the problem. the problem is

discussions about the impact of race relations in this country. >> funeral services for the fallen officers will begin this week. fox 5 is in fairfax county, police arrested four people during a protest rally calling for justice in the death of a virginia woman. natasha mckenna. the group call showing up for racial justice organized the protest. natasha mckenna died a year and a half after after officers tased her and put her in restraints during a cell transfer. at this point, no one has been charged in her death. the group delivered a petition demanding the deputies involved in the confrontation with mckenna be fired. finding a solution is the goal of a stop the violence panel hosted by wpgy radio. it was called yo, listen up. they paused the music two hours and opened up t

probably be awhile before we see that again, 69 for culpeper and 76 for quantico. overnight, there should be 60s in our northern and western suburbs, comfortable humidity in check, 71 will be the low for the district. warmer toward annapolis and leonardtown as well as kwon toe at 73. we got a pass on the rainy weather. fair weather clouds, had a little bit of storm activity toward the south. tomorrow there will be a little bit of a trigger coming through which will be the leading edge of the warmer air. but what you'll really notice i believe tomorrow not so much rain but the increase in the humidity, we'll still keep things in the 80's tomorrow but then as the week goes on and we continue to see the jet stream ridging more to the north, those temperatures will be getting into the 90's with the hazy hot humid conditions and likely some poor air quality as we get farther into the week. here's what we're thinking in terms of temperature for thursday, 93 degrees. we'll keep tomorrow and wednesday in the 80's. 95 our hottest day of the week should be friday just like last
