of these thunderstorms we had a 22 degree temperature drop from 5 do 73 in about 20 minutes. so even 30 minutes. so that really feels a lot bert i think temperatures may try to come back a little bit. but, first things first let's get you through the storms because they've been taking down an awful lot of trees. and we have warnings you can see that's all lined up 95 moving east at 35 miles an hour and tremendous bament of lightning on the eastern shore and all those areas in yellow including alexandria, falls church, counties of anne arrundel, calvert, and prince george and under severe thunderstorm warnings until 5:30 and main risk gusts capable of taking down trees and limbs and we had a lot of that. there's another area under severe thunderstorm warning and it includes portions of culpeper, green, madison and orange moving east at 35 miles an hour and entire area stays under severe thunderstorm until 8:00 tonight and hopefully the way this

drops a little early. heads up on the eastern show it's headed your way and all of these little indkailters show us where we have had reports of tree damage and thunderstorms are taking down trees. i'll take a look at a couple of them including intersection of river road and west bar and that's somerset neighborhood and wisconsin avenue and woo woodmont to bethesda not necessarily chevy chase. plenty of reports like this coming in and you want to stay out of the way of these storms as they're passing on through. check out these temperatures. we were up to 95 now down to 73. but look back towards couple better land they bounce back up again too. don't be surprised to find the temperatures dip down and rise back up and good news the thunderstorm should be out of here quickly and we have relief. heat relief coming if you don't consider that heat relief with the 73. i know i do. we'll let you know if you get any other up daiingts and warnings and we'll certainly pass them on to you. laura back to you. >>

this evening about the deadly police shooting in baton rouge, louisiana the gunman that shot the law enforcement officers was clearly targeting them. >> investigators say gave inlong was heavily armed. he was carrying two rifles and a .9 millimeter hand gun and police believe if a swat team member had not shot and killed long he would have continued his killing spree. joining us live now from baton rouge is fox's isaiah carry and isaiah we want to get an update from you on this police investigation. what is the latest. well, sarah, lauren, investigators say as you guys just mentioned, gaveen long, 29 years old targeted those police officers. it happened just across the street across airline highway where you can see dozens of baton rougeians out there providing and putting down flowers and balloons that give condolences to the officers. three officers who lost their lives and three officers who remain hospitalized

we're told gave inlong came to baton rouge after making a track from dallas and houston and ended up here several days ago and came in a rental car. investigators say he was methodical, calculating, they described him die bolical and evil and say his goal was to kill police officers. we're told he would walk along airline highway in dark black clothing with that rifle or with one of those rivrlees and he would get attention of some of the passers by. individuals that would call 911 and when the officers showed up to the scene because they had a description of a man out here car writing a rifle he went behind those buildings back there and waited until they came hichtd the buildings and investigate towards say he attacked each one of those officers hitting six of them and killing at least three of them and he had a shiingt ray was in

in his eyes and the police and we're told that there is a sheriff association along with association of police chiefs they're bringing more police officers in and more deputies in to provide backup for baton rouge police officers because many of them are going through counseling and we're not seeing a lot of police presence on the ground. and east baton rouge sheriff department she are on the scene there and only a few of them they're meeting and greeting some of the people bloom and flowers and not a strong heavy police presence that we would expect after a heavy shooting now as we head a lot of she's officers are in mourning right
