it's called racial tension between communities and law enforcement. tonight, montgomery county heldo thent first of two town haul meetings. fox5's marina maracco is life i silver springs with the veryy latest tonight. how did it go? >>reporter: sarah, well, the conversation is very much alive, like you said, especially heresc in montgomery county.y. although we haven't been affected by these shootings directly, the proof is that thit community cares. it was standing room only at o this meeting.eet now, it started with the county executivic leg it saying that he himself is county executive on e several occasions has been racially profiled by his own police b officers before they kn who he was. then it continued by residentsin venting saying that they have experienced sometimes not veryot favorable interactions with i montgomery county policeme officers and they vented to ao panel which included the police chief tom major as well as the

ncaa president of the local branch. now, the one thing that kept coming up was education, teaching tolerance and respect to our youth and we spoke with several residents who saysay they're educated, they're tolerant but yet they feel that their interactions with police,h raise has played a crucial rolei in those interactions. take a listen. when the police approach you, you almost always feel like a blackmail, i've been profiled, you feel like you did something wrong. you feel like you have to explain yourself when actually you're just living life and doing your day-to-day thing.ng. you have to explain why you're at a certain place and what youd were doing. i definitely am a supporter of black lives matter.atte i think that we should end police abuses and i think thathk while it's important to supportp the police that do a good job, that it's important to hold police accountable when they doy things wrong and that

can't let them stand behind the blue wall and not -- be held accountable and be brought to justice. and one correction i think earlier i misspoke on that panel was a local president for the naacp, but also chief major who addressed how his officers are e feeling in wake of the shootings in dallas as well as baton rouge. he says that 70 to 800 of those officers are wearing body cameras and it ' partly to show and hold them accountable of what goes on the streets and tod show itself interaction theyinte have with the community and how the community is receiving them in light of the shootings. people will say what happened in dallas, we hope that happens ton you. that doesn't happen every day, but you only need to hear that once or twice.twic and my cops have heard that a few times.ime it can effect your morale. it's a time time for police officers.
