school bus. now, this year, just yesterday, a four-year-old student was dropped off right here all alone. it's a very serious violation of policy that's even more concerning because the prince george's county public school district said they address these problems last year. >> cars were honking at my child. she could have been hit. thank could god for a good samaritan who saw her >> memories of your child first day of school include bright backpacks, photos and big smiles. but for crystal lawson and simone todd, the memory that stands out the most is the feeling of panic. >> i looked in the bus, my child was not there. >> reporter: the four-year-old boarded her bus for first day of prekindergarten at her assigned a stop. however, that afternoon, she didn't get off there. in this parking lot steps away from her home is where four-year-old

was supposed to be dropped off. instead she got dropped off here. which she started to across alone to get home. her mom ran find her here. she says she's just glad her little girl is ok. >> even though she was wearing this id tag with her address. >> i was crossing the street. >> what did the cars do? >> they beeped. >> they beeped their horns at you? did somebody come and help you? who came and helped you >> a boy. >> reporter: prek and kindergarten students are supposed to be handed off to a parent and because of the serious violation of policy, the principal of princeton elementary school rode the bus with smart phone on day two and while she feels the principal has been helpful, simone's mom says the transportation office is dodging her questions. the way the bus driver allegedly at fault tried to dodge our cameras >> i haven't heard anything from what

going to be nothing done. but that's not going to be the case. of i'm going to go to take care of this. this is not the last they heard of me. >> reporter: the prince george's county public school district declined to comment on camera but they did send us a written statement explaining that their bus drivers under go frequent training for how to pick up and drop off prekindergarten and kindergarten students. in fact, last training took place on august 12th, and then on august 18th, there was a test run, a pilot program at any called it, where bus drivers actually practiced dropping off and picking up these very young students. still though, this happened. district says they are investigating, and that bus driver could face disciplinary action. depending on the outcome of their investigation. reporting live in suitland alexandra limon fox 5 local news >> you talk about the training but in our school district with my kids, they have

bus. other students who are watching out for this to see if there are parents there picking up. do you know if there are patrols on these busses as well? >> reporter: i never actually heard of that, but considering that neither the mom north school district nor the principal we talked to dropped that off, doesn't sound like that's the case in this school district >> do you know what kind of disciplinary action he could face? >> reporter: no. in fact, we did ask, but the school district was very nonspecific. in fact, that mom said she was told by the bus driver's foreman yesterday that they didn't think he would face disciplinary actions. but today, the school district is saying differently. they're saying he could. >> alexandra limon, thank you. we deal with this every year. we get this figured out? hopefully this does not happen again. a frightening day at an alexandria beauty supply shop when an arm man forced three people into

a 7-year-old girl and he was after money >> police are looking for the man, matt ackland spoke to store owner who showed video of the entire incident. matt, what did you see. >> reporter: that store owner doesn't want to be on camera. she doesn't want to be identified but boy does she have a story to tell. she was here yesterday morning along with another adult employee, and that employee 7-year-old girl. well, that is when a man wearing a mask came through that front door right there. he had a gun, he pointed it at the store owner's head, we want you to listen in her words what happened after that. take a listen. >> right here like this. like this. my god, like this, you know, i go like this, i go, my god. my god. >> she say anybody here, other than you two. so and he take downstairs. he take the money out of there. i'm opening there. he

yesterday. right around 11:00, 10 to 11:00, if there is something about these pictures that you recognize, if you know something about this crime, authorities here in fairfax county would like to hear from you. live in fairfax county, matt ackland, fox 5 local unless you. ♪ new tonight, a monument tall problem for one of dc's biggest attractions, elevator problems are forcing the washington monument to now stay closed until next month. fox 5 tom fitzgerald is live on the national mall. tom, these problems have been persistent for months. >> reporter: seems like we're talking about about this al the time. here's the deal. the washington monument, the national park service said today, the elevator inside that big thing, well, you said at the end of its life. and what does that mean? well, they had originally planned to close it down for ten days. they got in there, they looked at it. what they

like, they're going to have to keep the monument elevator closed the rest of this month. it will not open up until beginning of september. take a look. remember, they don't have a lot of options here. this is a 555 foot monument. and there is only one elevator inside of it bringing all those tourists up and down all day long throughout the year. so what are they doing? well, they're cleaning stairwells, they're cleaning out cables. they're looking at the lighting in the stairways and they're also now going to have to come up with a long-term plan to replace and mod modnize this elevator. all that work for the earthquake five years ago, that really didn't work on the elevator. the elevator now is at the end of its life. they had a briefing on capitol hill in the offices of dc delicates. hear's what they said. theyne

have to be done, what they didn't know was that it was going to have to be done so soon. with these repeated outages, these repeated instances of people being stuck in it, they're now calling this an emergency repair situation, one they knew was coming but didn't have to expect was going to be needed so soon. >> we were anticipating we would have to do this. i think it's all become that much more urgent because we've had unexpected closures in the past couple weeks. which have -- have impacted our service to the public. >> reporter: a big make it is. of this is hitting right in the middle of the end of the summer tourist season here. here's the timeline that we're looking at right now. yes, they're going to close the monument through september. but they've got to come up with a plan. they've got to come up with the funding and they going to to come up with

across central italy. east of tuscany. crews continue to look for trapped people under the homes on her structures in at the rubble. >> we are living through this tragedy and only hoping there will be the fewest number of victim possible and we have courage to move on. >> the white house says president obama called italy's prime minister to offer the us government's help as they respond to the crisis. of. developing overseas, at least one person is dead and 18 others wounded after militants attacked the american university of afghanistan. officials say security forces are still combing the campus searching for the attackers. witnesses say they heard gunshots and then a blast near the campus in kabul. professors and student barricaded themselves inside class rams, it comes two weeks after two university staffs were kidnapped from the school. their whereabouts still unknown

recalling 29 million fitness trackers. >> activity bands and they look a lot like ones adults might wear and were available in the u.s. and canada but they're reportedly giving kids burns and rashes. the fast food giant says it knows of at least 70 complaints of skin irritation, if your child has fitness tracker, you can take it back to mcdonald's for a free replacement toy. meanwhile, if you take cream in your coffee, you're soon going to have to have a new option, starting september 6, the coffee chain is adding almond milk to it's lineup of nondairy creamers, you can already get soy and coconut milk. of it got more than 96,000 requests to offer this milk. instead of using one of the brands off the shelf, star bucks it's making its own version, it will add 60 cents. you got to pay for it. >> i think i've seen all the milk in some of the

to you about the clinton foundation, that was an a p report that came out that has a lot of people talking. we're going to give you the campaign's response, and then tell you about a separate story related to clinton's private e-mail server. first the a p released a report: it does involve the clintons foundation and has a lot of people using the words pay to play. the associated press reviewed state department calendars and found that more than half of the people from private interests, this means that they did not include federal employees or foreign government representatives. so those individuals who met with or have phone conversations scheduled with secretary clinton more than half of them also contributed in some way to the clinton foundation. now, even though this story did not involve e-mails, you definitely heard the term e-mails thrown around related to the clinton foundation

reports using e-mails to also draw conclusions of potential pay to play. now, a clinton spokesperson, let's take you to number two, obviously, wanted to respond to this report. they've said that the a p's analysis relied on flawed data. gave a distorted portrayal of her schedule. it went on to say that the data does not account for more than half of her tenure at secretary, and it omits more than 1700 meetings she took with world leader, let alone countless others that she took with other us government officials while serving as secretary of state. now, statement is much longer than that. i have the full statement on my ronica clear facebook and twitter pages. finally the third headline, this is one related to that use of hillary clinton's private e-mail server from when she was secretary of state. you may recall,s fbi director james comey announced back in july that in
