yancy. soon the storm will make landfall on florida's westt coast. right now it's still a category one hurricane, but as you can see from this video right hereig it is packing quite a punch. this is video of folks boarding up their houses trying totryi prepare for the big storm. let's get right to sue palka foa the latest.t it is going to pack a big punch. there are concerns that this might be getting strongerment at last check it had winds off 80 miles per hour.o look at the big eye and it may y indicate it is getting stronger. it's in april latch yeah pay and it ill be near apalachicola, but a lot of concern for tallahassee, florida. the hurricane hunters have beenn flying into it all night. as they have been doing their paths they recorded a wind speed of 98 miles per hour on the outer eye wall, the earn side of it. not a good sign.
10:03 pm
we'll be getting an update onon hermine in the next hour and i'll bet we'll find it has gotten a little bit strongerment it is moving north, northeast at 14.14 a lat 6 concern about tidal surging, for much of northwest,t florida. and then heavy rain, five to ten inches as it tracks across georgia and the inland. i want to remind you that thisht whole cone is in an area in which it could track.ra but the hurricane center isis going to place it right here. this is a better scenario for us, but let me take you up thep coast because what is going togi happen locally, it coulds likei it will be south of the norfolk area around 2:00. it hangs off the coast sunday into monday.in on a track like that the worsthe is going to miss d.c., but it'ss going to be bad news for the coast and tropical storm watches have been posted there forth thh weekend. that means the tropical stormrm conditions could develop, but this track is still not set inin stone. we saw some good signs today seeing shift more to
10:04 pm
which means at worst it would miss the d.c. metro region. that's not to say we're noting s whying to have some rain, somen, clouds around.und. that could change a little bit,i though. we're, going to keep our fingers crossed that he with the new track comes in shortly before 11:00, maybe it's shifted farther east. it's still in the position to have a big impact on the beaches with heavy rains and strongtron winds throughout the weekend. if lingers off the coast into monday, that surge and beacheach erosion will pile up for several days. i'll have the very latest track and how about 10:30 i show you hour by hour how the weekend iss looking in terms of rain.ain > shawn, over to you.hawn >> sounds good, sue.ue. listen up all you bruise convenience seen fans, he's performing life at nats park. tens of thousands of people will spill out onto the streets whenr the show is over and many of then may be dice pointed to learn that metro is alreadylrea c
