. fbi released notes about hillary clinton's private e-mail server. >> this is the hottest story 5 at 6:30. we invite you guys to join the conversation. let us know what you think about this story or any of the other story, use the #5at630. kickback and relax. we know the fbi interviewed clinton in july at her home here in dc. there were roughly almost 60 pages of documents, entire pages that were redacted. the files also showed clinton claims she could not recall numerous indictment >>

is gop strategist. here we go. what do you make of what came out >> i don't think it will have much political impact. i don't think trump is in a position to really capitalize on it. i don't think we can do much with it. it's kind of like nixon, i think she's beating richard nixon, either she's a liar or crooked. can't, both, that's what they said about tricky dix. >> all along your guy donald trump said this whole thing is rigged. here we are on friday afternoon of a holiday weekend. we get a document dump on a friday of a holiday weekend. what do you think about the timing of this? >> the fbi is collaborating and cooperating with hillary clinton's campaign. i mean, why james
6:33 pm
wanted to this, i have no idea. he could have easily charged her, he could have been a national hero. >> he did not. he said he didn't find the anything that rose to the level of criminal charges. >> as he defined it. remember, he established the standard is willful, he went on to say she's committed gross negligence, which is the standard, he kind of rewrote the law as he was speaking. >> tell me a little bit about your thoughts, like i said seems like old news, was there anything that stood out to you in this round? for instance and they were talking about the mass deletion of e-mails from that -- the private server, the people that managed. it was around the time of the benghazi hearing. do you think there were some things that came out of that that made you think. >> what really came out of it is the extensiveness of it, the 39 or 40 times -- i don't remember which, i think 39 times where she simply said she
6:34 pm
know: she said i don't know enough times that we really don't know. she almost gave the impression that she doesn't know what the definition of confidential and classified are. of course she knows what classified information s. basically she almost took the fifth. when you say i don't know, basically you're kind of taking the fifth without taking the fifth. we saw the e-mail where she sought information from collin powell and he gave her information about how to conceal this and that. the fact that you uses a different systems act blackberry, your iphone, the only reason somebody does that is because they want to hide certain information. the whole argument about convenience i think that's been shown to be very specious and silly. >> let me switch gears, your guy, donald trump, this weekend is going to be meeting with a black church in a black community up in detroit. good idea or bad idea? >> it's a very good idea. i think for
6:35 pm
he's got to do three things, one, very well with white working class voters >> do you think this is a stretch, to reach out to get that anyway. >> i think it's too much, too little, too late. trump should have started six months ago. i begged them six months ago: the trains left the station, african-americans where you have to concentrate. he didn't do that until now. detroit is good. philadelphia would be better, michigan is not in play, pennsylvania could be. i'd be doing this in philadelphia. it's a good thing he's doing but i think it's too late. >> they should have hired you. thanks so much for coming in. have a great weekend. >> thank you, happy labor day. . donald trump visited his speech after meeting mexican president. >> he appeared to go back and forth on his view, some appeared to have paid off. a poll
6:36 pm
clinton nationally. >> there's now a talk about some of the big glam bells. ben staff writer for the hill. ben, do you think this paid off? >> we're going to have to see. the mexico trip was a gamble. it was just a few days in advance. typically it takes weeks. but when he came down to mexico, a lot of republican, even democrats said this looks pretty good, this looked presidential, his speech was pretty measured, and sort of made appealing to the idea that he can be a world leader. >> when he came back home and he gave a speech in arizona a few hours later, he seemed to pivot the exact opposite direction. neck, so much that it was red meat he was throwing out there were members who had been on his latino advisory board who
6:37 pm
did this pay off >> with one hand in the morning, he tried to make out that appeal to the sort of moderate. then he pivoted hard back to that red meat base that really, you know, has want him to stick to this immigration mind. i think the later speech sort of ov overshadows. he's going on a strategy to bring out as much as possible. it's a tough strategy to do in the general election, because the general election audience is typically pour about the middle but they're taking a hard gamble. >> do you think the mexican president coming out and basically calling out trump on twitter that whole back and forth, you know, trump was saying, you know, mexico is going to pay for the wall and he's saying the mexican president is like, no, we're not, we talked about that. he was claiming didn't come up. do you think that he's caught in kind of a lie there? do you think you know, anybody really cares at that point his supporters >> tht'
6:38 pm
these things are risks going out to go out and see the mexican president because things like this can happen. but ultimately, you know, there was so much more focus on that later speech, and the message and that hard line after weeks and weeks of debating whether or not donald trump is going to soft on immigration. that's going to be a blip when people think about this. today donald trump met with a round table of leaders from the black community in philadelphia. tomorrow he's supposed to go to detroit and meet with the black church, a pastor. we just asked our last guest a short time ago and he thought this was too little. too late. what is your take? is it too little, too late for donald trump to reach out and win over the black vote >> it may be too little, too late winning the majority, but these events are tailored to do a couple things, one, maybe bringing over some
6:39 pm
making it not as bad as thinks were, where the margin is going to be decided. >> when you say some people, do you mean black voters or educated white voters who they want to make sure don't believe donald trump is a racist >> it's going to depend on both. if you can get couple votes from either side that maybe see this in second guess, or more moderate voters that say it looks like he's trying harder now, a couple votes in these swing states could swing the election. >> thank you so much for talking with us. we appreciate it. it is the weekend. and most of us would love the told weekend to be nice and sunny and beautiful. but >> i don't know if it will >> let's cut right to the chase, it's not going to be happy. >> let's check in with gwen tolbert and get the latest with hermine. we heard from the governor of virginia, they're making prep, gwen. >> thank goodness they are,

is a very strong storm system with pleasant of rainfall and packing very serious winds as it moves its way up. here's a look at what's hanger the winds are 50 miles an hour moving northeast at 20 miles an hour. here's a look at the track before it moves out to sea and becomes a remnant low pressure system. we're going to see all of these tropical characteristics. by the time we get into sunday, it will be out to see. the problem is it's going to be blocked by a ridge of high pressure. the models are in a little bit of disagreement. some want to bring it back towards the coast with more rainfall and dangerous rip tides, strong winds. and some want to leave it out to sea. but if it happens it will be sitting there regardless at least into mid week. it does bear watching. as far as we're concerned, not a lot of activity from it but we will see rainfall and see all the power of those winds, our beaches, lower southern maryland,

will feel the greatest impact. 77 tomorrow with clouds and showers, sunday some of that could still be lingering, could see it even a little bit more depending on how and when it does move towards the coast, if that does happen. behind it we're looking at plenty of sunshine, but we got the heat wave back again, oh, it is going to heat up, we're heading back to those 90's all over again. take a look. up to the higher 90's by the time we get back again into the end of the week, we got it all happening, we just ask you to be safe out there. back to you. >> we're going to start fanning for the heat. >> i can't believe it. >> thank you, gwen. >> the countdown is on. >> we're going to break down who the moderators will be and if we can expect fireworks. and reminder we invite you to join the conversation, talk about anything you want to talk about. you want to talk about hermine, talk about that. tweet us and use #5at630. >> talk about your
