heart. president elect trim will notwil prosecute hillary clinton overlr her private e-mail server even s aftere promising he would do jut that during the campaign. this is what people are talking about tonight at 6:30. tweet us what is on your mind. > let's get right to it.
6:31 pm
i'll tell you what, i didn't think i'd say this, but i'mm going to say it and i hate to say it, but if i win, i am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation. all right. so what gives here? criminalnal defense attorney and legal commenter scott a bolton joins a us. >> thank you for having me. you > it's always great toive thatt you 6789 let me ask you about this, throughout the campaignugo that was one of theut signature things we'd hear at a trump rally, lock her up.. trump promising to go after here do you think this was all talk during the campaign.he i was political rhetoric. donald trump didn't understand how the government o dr the department of justice worked. we're not a what rep, if you
6:32 pm
prosecutors prosecute her.or ths e ag is appointed by the president, but he certainly cannot.lit size their decisions to indictth or charge or evenen investigate. that's the first thing. the second thing is that she's been cleared twice from theseese investigations and that's pretty hard to over come, especially from the lifetime of prosecutors that do good and honest work and criminal.cr she may have been careless withh the. but it was all used for the business of the state department that's what gets loss in thisis debate. that's why she'll never be prosecuted. say that there's thatat independent investigativeinve ability there.ere. you're saying that we won't see her prosecuted, but there is a possibility someone along the way that may say let's take another look at this case.se.
6:33 pm
>> they certainly do, but from a political standpoint and a practical standpoint it's going to be hard to take a deeper look at this if they reach a different conclusion, it sounds and walks like a political process, doj wants no part of that. to continue to look into the clinton foundation, because thae investigation has not closed. > the legal mind, and the folks you've been talking to and what you think about this, when we see this new attorney general, doni you think that we see a change as the head of the fbi? do youu think we'll see a change other places. >> i think so. sessions is a controversial figure. he couldn't get a judgeship because of his connection to racist comments. he's been a staunch supporter os donald trump. i think you're going to see changes. i can't say whether comey stays
6:34 pm
he became more political. i could see him going or stayingment it depends on what the new attorney general wants.. remember, sessions hasn't beenn confirmed yet. this is a republican party that is in disarray, not withstanding control in all three houses. both sides had different opinions on james comeyme throughout the process. they liked him, didn't like him. thank you for joining us. > thanks for having me. > we're also hearing the president elect's first 100 days in office.e. as part of our plan to drain the swamp we will impose a five-year ban on executive officialsials becoming lobbyists after they leave the administration and a lifetime ban on executive officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government. al lay nor and i executive director the immigration forumrm joins us.s thank you for joining us.
6:35 pm
> let me get your take on what we heard in this two-minute youtube video that the president elect release.el what do you think. >> frankly we were expecting more. candidate trump talked about many, many issues especially in the immigration, talking about a border wall, mass deportation, rescinding executive actions. i feel like donald trump soldmp himself as a great salesman but he's giving us a short sale. > there was a lot of red meet thrown out in the early goin promise to prosecute hillarylary clinton. is that the blister that has reduced itself to a about it of a whim per. >> president elect trump is trying to be more rational. when you're looking a at the people he's considering for key positions, the kansas secretaryn of state chris could he back is a person who has really put r forward a the look ofe really, really harmful immigration laws across the country. we feel whether it's could he
6:36 pm
considering across the administration, ultimately personnel policy.pers it's great to have a two and a half minute youtube to start too give us some details, but i think the american public is really wondering what is a trump administration going to pry or advertise from a legislative perspective. all of us are waiting for many details here. you mentioned that he did not mention the big things he talkee to in the campaign everythingain from building the big to could this just be because all of those things requireui congressional approval but the other list of things simply require his signature.na >> absolutely. i think what he's realizing is that when he comes to d.c. is a big transition from campaigning to governing and that differenct ishat going to mean that he haso have the right personnel he hass to have the right strategy and ultimately he needs the support of the republicans and the house and the senate. and that's beauty of this moment. they have the opportunity toport move forward with constructivest
6:37 pm
economy, on immigration and on healthcare and it's gnetales as easy, as simple as a bumper sphincter, repeal and replace.ad we have to programs and policies in place to continue to move the country for.r. >> i guess we're all in that wait and see moment. >> absolutely. > thank for joining us tonightu thank you verys much. the electoral college is frontrt and center again tonight. there are reports that some presidential electors are making a bid to >> mr. montano: ex pap as joins us.join there's a lot of talk that some of the democratic presidentialdt elect torse will not vote for donald trump and they're tryingh to getey some of those gop elect fors to vote for other peopleope like mitt romney or paul ryan. how likely do you think this is to make a difference in the end? >> not very likely. i think this is a liberal pipe dream.
6:38 pm
dream. they're not official until december 19. 25 states don't require that the elect ors vote the way the state did. some of these liberals are saying if they could peel off 38 people not to vote for donald trump that they could change the results of the election, butctio there are a lot of problems. number one being that some of those states are states like kentucky, they're reliably republican. they're reliably donald trump.. it's to change the people of minds like that. president obama and hillary clinton are going to have tt oot behind it. barack obama said he wants a pieceful transition. hillary clinton has conceded the race. popular vote means absolutelyab nothing. you can't deny the fact that hillary clinton has about 1 and a half million more votes than m donald trump.or it'sdo getting to the point whee it's roughly the same margin
6:39 pm
they called that mandate.alle it's ad totally differentto situation here now.ta. it's so interesting in factct today that donald trump in anina interview with the new yorknew times says he would prefer if elections were decided by popular vote and not electoral vote. this is a guy who lost thee popular vote. he would prefer for it to be the other way. he said had it been that way he would have campaigned differently by going to bigger cities. and he still t thinks he would have won.n. because they lost in 2000 with allegory won the most popular votes. they lost again now when hillary clinton had the most popularpula votes. you have a number of democratsct saying maybe we should changeuld this system. donald trump is even backing them up now. it seems like that is ultimately their end game here. he maybe the game here is to do away with the electoral college. thanks so much for having us.
6:40 pm
there has been a reported up take in crime across the country. theft and vandalism, swastikas and racist graffiti is now beginning to emerge. tom fitzgerald is live with thei story.s we have been tracking since the election.elec call this what this is, th garbage.garb these are people engaging in acts of hate in terms of intimidation. it has turned on its head. this is a door of a house ine silver springs.ings but what you need to know aboutt this house is this was a houseue of a donald trump supporter. apparently we we talked to this man said he said he haded a trump pence sign on his front lawn.
6:41 pm
american flag stolen and then somebody spray painted a a swastika on his front door.or we went to see the anti defamation league and they telly us this, they have identified 33 incidents in our area, d.c., maryland and virginia where this kind of activity is going on. swastikas, hate speeches, this kind of of stuff. what they are calling on tonight that parents and educators talkt to their kids and understand exactly what the swastika is, what it represents, its connection to the holocaust during world war ii and why that is a symbol that carries such hurt and such pain to people in this country. we want teachers to engage with even young students in a respectful and appropriate manner, to teach them about thea lessons of the holocaust and what the swastika represents int order to prevent these thingsse
6:42 pm
prevent graffiti and the wide loose use of the swastika. montgomery county police told us that there is a $10,000 reward tonight if anybody hasbo information about this incident up in silver springs that leadsn to an arrest. both anti defamation league and the united states holocaust me see up tell us tonight they have resources online.e. they would like parents to go use their children because simply they are concerned, shawn and jim, that if young people do not know what a swastika is, not know what it means, that they'll be more likely than not to engage in displaying it someplace if they feel likeke acting act.ac they identify this as a seriousu and real problem right now. they want people to try to get t their arms around it before it goes further than it alreadydy has. > we're not supposed to talk about politics at dinner, but,
6:43 pm
time for folks, parents to talk about this sort of thing to get the worked out. > maybe we'll come out as better people.le. thanks, fitz. > let's talk a little bit about the weather.er. it was real cold and plus the an past couple of days. a little different today.. >> when we can ditch the wind, it's a good thing. the wind is much better but what we're finding is it cold fasterr we see a lot of places down i what is ahead for wednesday, if you're travelling tomorrow we'll start with sunshine.ine. we'll have some clouds around in the afternoon.tern it looks like tonight will gett mighty cold again in the city, but again not as windy as it has been.been tomorrow 52-degrees, and a little bit of afternoon cloud cover. for thanksgiving it is possibleb as we climb toward 5 a degrees that we could have a couple of showers around in the morning.ni it is not going to be a particularly wet day, but a day little bit damp in the morning, but maybe hit or miss showers ii
6:44 pm

6:49 pm
understand that maybe a book -- buying a book here costs more than it does if you went online to buy it and they're willing tn do that, but there are other things such as online taxation -- taxes for onlineline businesses that are important. that part of it is fare because the taxes go to support the local community.ommu well, thanks so much for sharinr your story with us. if you're in the arlington area. i have been spending so muchso time just walking through this store. it's beautiful. there's so much make sure you check it out.. i love it. i love small businesses and you can't deny the fact that there's wine there.ere. > i love the local book store,t wine, excellent stuff. > there's a little party going on at the white house today.use >> i heard. it was a pretty star studded tribute to the medal of freedom winners. we're going to take you i'm side
