6:30 pm
5at630. i got it wrong a couple of minutes ago. let's get to it added to the president-elect cabinet >> this is the hottest store at 6:30, tweet us using #5at630. there are reports goldman sacks executive gary cohen is trump choice to head the white house national economic council. he joins andy puzder the c eo of -- they're latest selections from the president-elect, but
6:31 pm
all other things politics are jack berkman gop strategist and brendon daily democratic strategist. they're here, aren't they? here's -- there's jack. >> here's what we want to start with. this came out on the wires a few minutes ago. president-elect trump shutdown four of his companies connected to possible saudi arabia business the president-elect has been a little hesitant to do somes of this but he has to decision connect from these business ventures >> he's got to move faster. we're probe in agreement on this, tony brandon and i, i think he's developed a bit of a political tenure, he's saying the daughter will run the companies but the daughter has been on calls with foreign leaders. trump is probably going to have to divest himself of certain companies. he's come to that realization,
6:32 pm
dollars empire while president. i think the day he was elected. he felt maybe he could do that. i'm quite sure sure he understands and i think this will continue and i think within a few weeks, it will be fine >> makes me ask, the news that came out about him staying on with the celebrity apprentice, and can he really do that? is this a conflict of interest? brendan can we hear from you >> i think it is a conflict and i hope subcontract is rig about the substantive issue of some of these companies, i'm not actually 100% confident that he will do that, he doesn't want to do that and as jack said even if he does go to his kids, they're involved in the government. on the tv show, sure, that just doesn't make sense, nbc obviously going to report on him, he's very keen on ms nbc talks about morning joe and saturday live, he's sensitive to
6:33 pm
him. >> there's legal ethics and public opinions. the public knows full well this was not man with all of his assets in a blind trust, like the bush family or richard nixon was a guy running a business empty prior and voted for him. the public is well aware of all of this. i think the public may realize maybe he needs a little bit of time to do this. one thing about donald trump, whatever anybody thinks of him, the guy is honest. this isn't a guy for kick-backs, abusing government. he's an honest guy whatever you think of him. i don't know there's a whole lot 24 about i don't think it will hurt him in the polls either. >> let's go to the new cabinet members that he is proposing. let's talk about the gentleman we mentioned just a few moments ago and from goldman sacks, again, going to goldman sacks, brendan, let me start with you, your thoughts. >> as jack said the public knows
6:34 pm
wealth person and selecting an incredibly wealth capability. i. it ironic on goldman because he hammered ted cruz during the primary about being owned by goldman sacks now he's getting a couple of them key to his economic team. on the secretary of labor. the secretary soon to be vp administrator are very much opponents of the job their trying to do and the secretary of labor want to automate business, against minimum w number of things that would help employees. i just find that troubling >> i'm glad the labor choice would be against the $15 minimum wage, automation is a good thing, having successful people in the cabinet, i don't care if they have 100 million or a billion it's a great thing for the country. what the government should do is teach everyone to be successful. you know, the big problem with obama in last eight years and actually like the president, but he -- his cabinet is not very
6:35 pm
has had no businessmen in it. he's had very few successful people in it. and no one who knows how to run a business or make money or anything like that. >> that's not true. we look at the secretary of commerce, we don't go there for now. you do need to have expertise. look at secretary of hud. ben carson, no experience at all housing policy at all. i do think there's questionable choices. we don't know really what the president-elect will do on a number of issues, where he's different things, since the election, i do think the jury is still out on what's going to happen. >> i know we talked about this a lot. i wanted to make sure we got your taking president obama is moving on to this topic the full review of the 2016 election after reports of russian interference. this is kind of been talked about, alluded to but now seems to be gaining steam here. what do you make of this?
6:36 pm
ared to leave office that he's now wanting to make sure this gets done. >> the republican congress wants to investigate the reports of russian interference. the only person, the intelligence committee everybody he everyone is unanimous. the only one that doesn't think that is president-elect trump. i think it's something that has to be investigated. we can't have an adversary trying to interfere in our election >> i have no objection to that but then when you look at hillary clinton is doing calling for all fake news to be eliminated and reaching out to facebook and google and wanting to get into sensor ship and this that and the other and blaming the attack in washington in the pizza shop on fake news. i disagreed with the president in the last eight years but i'll give him credit he conducted himself with honor and dignity. i would encourage him not to get
6:37 pm
note. >> that's the person he is and he will continue to do that. on the fake news issue i do think there's some things facebook and other internet companies can do, just to label it. they don't have to censor anybody, you have to label, there's no basis in fact, it has very real world consequences as we saw at comet pizza >> those of us in the media are concerned about it as well. >> jack, brendon, thank you very much. >> thank you. donald trump has been business since being elected appears he's still for one of his biggest venture >> he will be credited as one of the executive producers of his former nbcral show. the celebrity apprentice, we want to specifically talk about this with joe consha, media reporter for the hill. what do you think? should he be staying on? is this a conflict of interest? >> i don't see it as a conflict of interest, guys, and don't tack my word for it. do the happy hour test, go out, talk to average americans, bloomberg did, they did a poll
6:38 pm
confident the billionaire businessman will put the nation's best interest ahead of his family finances. i don't see it that way. i don't see it taking a lot time out of his schedule. i look at president obama and i don't begrudge him of this, play as much golfer as you can, but president obama played over 300 rounds of golf, six, seven hours. i feel a feeling being an executive producer is not exactly going to be in the border room, members, it's going to be that big of a deal >> i suspect he won't be involved in that. let's get something clear here. the president, president obama did not play golf six, seven hours every day and every american president since eisenhower spent a lot of time on the golf course >> it takes six, seven hours out
6:39 pm
6:40 pm
from his time in the oval office. >> again, the bloomberg poll that i cited the majority of americans don't think it's a big deal. do you think it's a big deal he's sticking sticking with the apprentice? as long as he's concentrating on that and he does a good job, let him do what he wants in his free time with a entertaining to him >> one of the other things, mark burger net, big-time tv producer is contributing to the trump inauguration helping to shape that up. what do you think he's going to bring to the table >> he says he wants to do a parade down 5th avenue here in new york a block from where i am right now. he'll bring show manship to perhaps the trump presidency, the guy knows how to produce. i know that president obama had plenty of guys in his corner as far as spielberg and others,
6:41 pm
unfortunately, hate to look at it that way, such a serious job. half the time you're selling yourself, you're brand and the guy like burnet, who was out at some point, to come to the forefront will be selling it's entertainment part of donald trump. needs that already. >> joe reporter with the hill, thanks so much for your take on this today. appreciate it. >> good to see you guys one week ago, we said it may be december but the weather doesn't feel like it now, >> it was certainly cold outside today. windchills in the teens, gwen joins us to let us know if we need to keep bundling up, hey, gwen >> we do, i'm telling you, december is now here with a big lions roar. let's take a look at temperatures, the colder air to the north all going to move its way straight down the midatlantic, and lock has the these minuses, unbelievable. this is going to be a be weekend actually with the weather is
6:42 pm
coldest, here's a look. ridge of high pressure, saturday will be sunshine, breezy, not quite as windy as it was but it will be a brisk day, then more clouds on sunday. keeping a close eye on a weather system that could bring us mixed precipitation sunday night overnight into early monday morning, that does bear watching, then we're looking at warmer air and a rain event, we got all kinds of mixed conditions going on. in the meantime, it's cold. that's the big word. rr 20's and 30's, 27 another dc, overnight low, 30 at quantico, it will be 26 at manassas and 28 at dulles overnight. we got the windchills to be concerned with as well. here's a look at your forecast for tomorrow, if your planning early at 8:00, 27 degrees. by midday, 37, by the 4:00 hour, 37. and tonight we're talking windchills in the single digits as well as the teens, so
6:43 pm
accu-weather seven-day forecast. you can see we're going to be warming up slightly. the 51 degrees on monday, starting out with a bit of mix, changing to all rain. we dip right back down again, another very, very cold shot of air comes later in the week. so we're down to the 20's, and even into the teens for overnight lows, this weekend, folks, bundle up, turn up the heat, stay inside and just watch fox 5. back to you. >> thanks. donald trump promise to make america great but not everyone decision. we'll take a look at the latest poll numbers some showing a lack of support for the new
6:44 pm
6:45 pm
6:46 pm
break down the numbers, chris jackson he is vice president of public affairs, good to see you. there is though some good news in these numbers for the president-elect; correct >> that's right thanks for having us good to be her mother so donald trump is entering his transition with some of the lowest favor ability ratings, but they've been picking up. right now in our ipso we have trump with his strongest favor ability we've seen since we've started polling on him he's moving in the right direction even though he he's not quite where obama was >> why do you think his unmarks were where they -- where they were at, given the fact that he won the election. how to that you would see such a low favor ability rating out on the gate >> it is a divided country, people who voted for clinton aren't going to immediately
6:47 pm
with donald trump. it will take him time to start changing minds if he's able to it does >> we're getting details now from the president-elect. he's made a number of cabinet picks, generally speaking, how have those decisions polling, what are people thinking of the cabinet picks. >> it's a bit of a mixed bag, some of them are seen as pretty good, pretty well-liked, favorable and a lot of them are just people that public doesn't really know about. you know, a lot of these are sort of more well-known, you know, you have characters like mitt romney who are well-known and aren't in the cabinet yet. the public slight think that the cabinet shaping up well, but still only about 40% to about 30% who say the cabinet is not looking good. >> besides the cabinet picks, what other things do you can i look, i guess looking at past administration, what things do you look at in kind of poll things that people will really
6:48 pm
not take issue with other than the cabinet picks? >> i think one thing we look for in the poll numbers is the direction of the country, how people say the direction of the country is going, and it's picked up a little bit since trump got elected. but mostly what's happened is republicans who in the obama years were really negative have gotten more positive, where democrats who were more positive have gotten negative. so you know, trump is not even in office yet. passed policies yet. so you know, he hasn't even really entered his honey moon stage. with the way this is sort of shaping up, it will be more of a bachelor party than a honey moon >> the thing that most people are focused on and say most important the economy >> still the economy. in that regard, trump i think is exactly playing it pretty well with some of these prominent deals he's making with these companies.
6:49 pm
>> do people besides looking at the economy, is security what's the next thing after economy that people seem focused on? how do you think the president-elect will do >> the number one issue is the economy, number two to is terrorism and healthcare. it's sort of remains to be scene, terrorism is typically one of those things that the president seen as doing well unless something bad happens. so it's really sort of the absence of something happening that will >> chris jackson vice president of ipso public affairs, thanks for joining us, we appreciate it. donald trump he's been holding meetings for weeks with current and former law makers muriel bowser, we're going to tell you about a meeting he had with a certain academy award winning actor, 5at630 coming

donald trump took time out >> he sat down with leonardo decaprio. they met with the president-elect to discuss how jobs focused on preserving environment can help the economy. he held a separate meeting with another hi profile activ against climate change in his career after politics. of course, we know that he's taking issue with whether or not climate change is an issue >> it will be interesting to see if any of these meetings informed him or influenced him in any way, there are people who say that trump can be influenced, that he will listen to what people have to say and take that into consideration. so we'll see. >> we will. hopefully. the search continues for who will take the stage at the

marks here, elton john was one of a few musicians to decline, others don't wants their music to be played at trump events, those include aerosmith, rolling stones and adele. but the president-elect says that stuff does not bother him. in an interview with tmz kellyanne conway says trump does not dislike musicians who speak out against him and it doesn't make him like their music any less, he believes in liberty and freedom of expression and the first amendment. no word and who will take the stage during the inauguration. >> we'll be right back. stage during the inauguration. >> we'll be right back. ??
