school. >> this this case a bullet hit the man and he ran inside for help. police got to the scene quickly and "fox5" tisha lewis is there with the latest on this one. tisha. >> jim, shawn, students will have quite the story to tell when they get home tonight. that's because we're told students and teachers heard gunfire when all of this erupted this morning. now, if you take a look behind me you can see that police are kind ever camped outside. you can see students are still coming out. must have been after school activity. the gate is close the. i have about that school on another story. this is all new, usually gate and doors are on. we were able to walk right in. now, again, all this happened at the harmony public charter school. a man was reportedly dropping off his girlfriend and child. he was struck as he waited in a car. he ran inside the school after being hit. police say a gold-colored lexus slowly approached the victim and someone inside fired several gun shots. the victim was struck in the arm, stomach. an

earlier this afternoon, mayor muriel bowser and interim chief police stopped by hoping to assure residents.. >> i hope they recognize this appears to be people known to each other and the school friend were already in school and that the police are looking for the person responsible and we're looking to pick him up off the streets when we can. >> we understand some of the teachers heard the gun shots. we assume it was frightening for the kids that were involved. >> reporter: again, d.c. police on standby kind of camped out here outside harmony public charter school. let's talk about this shooter. what we do know is that the shooter and victim reportedly knew each other. and we're also told police know who they are looking for in terms o

did just call d.c. police and they would not release that information or description on the suspect. we're told that they do know at least who they're looking for. again, the school community and also residents in this area can at least take a deep breath and feel at least some type of reassurance and some type of safety in light of the scare that happened early this morning. tisha lewis, "fox5 local news". there's new information tonight about the dui arrest of the chairman of the prince original george county liquor board. charles caldwell as charged after a minor car crash at the grand opening of mgm resort and casino last week. a police report contradicts caldwell's claim he took a breathalyzer test and results were inconclusive. paul wagner joins us with the story. >> reporter: hi, shawn, two sources familiar with the police report say he was taken to the. oxon hill station and agreed to a test and then refused to complete it he blew into the machine once and when k

provide a second sample he refused. police protocol requires two samples for a successful test. and an accurate reading of driver's blood alcohol content. when we reached mr. caldwell by phone today and asked about the report, he told us he thought the machine was broken and declined to comment further. last week, charles caldwell told "fox5" that he had not refused to take a breathalyzer test and police made a mistake in arresting him. however, prince george county police say caldwell failed a field sobriety test outside mgm which a source says was captured on police cruiser dashcam raxt in our initial interview with the chairman of county liquor board caldwell said he's almost 7 years old and unsteady on his feet and said the incident was being "blown out of proportion" here's what the police said about caldwell's arrest. >> they approached mr. caldwell on driver side of the vehicle and observed a strong odor of alcohol

local news". and developing in the district police are asking for the public's help in finding the suspect in a deadly shooting. had happened sunday night 1600 block 32 street northwest and police were called to a report of destruction of property and when they got there they found a man inside of a car suffering from gun shot wounds. he died at the scene. he's identified as 21-year-old brent copeland of northwest and police believe whom ever killed him was in the vehicle with him. if you know anything you're asked to give police a call. a suspected gang member under arrest. day monday alexander was arrested this morning aus kood of opening fire back on november 0 and hitting six people, two died. police believe alexander is a member of the black gorilla family gang and shooting was retaliation for another incident and investigators say alexander targeted four of the victims and as you know, this has been a particularly violent year in baltimore, nearly 300 people have

developments tonight or a shooting right outside ever a d.c. charter school that's good to have you with us i'm tony perkins. >> i'm shawn yancy. >> someone shot a man sitting in a car right outside harmony public charter school. police responded quickly. >> "fox5" tisha lewis is live on the scene with the latest. tisha. >> police are still out here tonight. if you look over my shoulder you can see behind me police there's a gate in front of the public charter school. i have been at this school for other stories and i can tell you the gate is usually on and we were able to walk right in. now, in this incident a man was shot as he dropped -- after he dropped off his girlfriend and her child. we're told that someone in a gold-colored lexus pulled a fire and a bullet hit him in the arm and fwraized stomach and the man was able to run noodz the school during school hours with teachers and students inside. thankfully the teachers and students and everyone

that man is expected to survive. and but still police are trying to piece together a little about what happened and what i can tell you is police believed the suspect -- the shooter and victim knew each other and there was some kind of domestic dispute. we have video, the mayor came to harmony public charter school to reassure students and talk to students and also the community and reassure everyone and let everyone know they're safe and this was isolated incidents. now, we did speak with a volunteer here at the school. she did not want to be identified. here's what she had to say. >> i was a little surprised and i'm not really sure what to say this is my first experience with this kind of incident. >> do you feel safe? >> honestly i'm a little worried about my safety because i walk to and from metro station
