digit windchills that are going to be he heading our way. i wanted show you temperatures not bad. 44 in the district. 37 in the some of the western communities. but later the tonight, we're going to go see some of the cold air that we see in places like columbus, ohio, 12 degrees, chicago 15, pittsburgh 21, that's going to go come on through, going to need a few more hours but also i want you thong that when that cold air blasts between about 9:00, 10:00 to about 2:00. it could come through with snow showers that could be snow squalls at times. there's the arctic air. it will lift the air just a little bit and while there won't be loss of moisture there could be just enough to cause issues if your driving. not all roads have been treated. this would certainly not be a lot of snow. we know sometimes just trays amounts can make it difficult. that's when the cold air comes in later tonight, some snow showers to possible between about 10:00 and 2:00 in the morning, and then it's all about the cold air. these are all th

advisories that are in effect, and for our area, in the mountain communities out to our west, above 2500 feet, that could be ten to 20 degrees below zero. that's the windchill they're expecting and that will continue through the day tomorrow. at 11:00 tonight, what kind of windchills can you expect? not terrible. 30's for our area. it's tomorrow morning, 7:00 in the morning, windchills in the single ds north and west. 11 degrees in the district. it does not improve through the day. noon we're still talking about single digit windchills. that's what you need to get ready. but we also have something else to keep a close eye on for friday and saturday morning. we'll talk about that a little bit later. sarah and jim, back to you. >> we will. thank you, sue. a man is in incredible condition tonight after police say he was shot during an arm robbery. >> it happened earlier near the danville road in brandywine. the two suspects remain on the

scene with the latest for us, alex, what do you know? >> reporter: well, there's several things that stand out about this armed robbery and the first is that it happened here. take a look it's a construction site. and there's nothing really here, so it's quite odd that somebody would rob two people at this location. now, prince george's county police department has not clarified whether this was a targeted or a random robbery and they also haven't said what was taken, but take a look at this video, so you can see police were here on the scene for several hours collecting evidence, and investigating and they tell us the two victims who were robbed were truckers and one of them was shot critically injured and had to be air lifted from the scene of the shooting. north carolina the two suspects all we know is that they got away on foot, which is also quite odd because this is a very rural ar

they had a car waiting nearby, if they possibly lived in the area, or where they were going. a lot of questions still remain at this point. >> i think it's very strange. this is very quiet around here, and i've never heard anything happening around here, and you see construction all the time. companies, cars going back and forth, but to have somebody, that's -- that's odd. we're asking if anyone that was in the area at about 12 noon may have seen anything, seen anyone who didn't belong in the area, running or fleeing from this area around that time, please give police cal. no detail is too small. >> reporter: it's not visible but down the road and around the corner, there are a few homes spread out. but it is possible someone may have heard or seen something, i can also tell you it appears there were other workers here, when this happened. however, t

county police department said they didn't want to get into details because it could compromise their investigation. we have no other information about the suspect, what they looked like or who police are looking for. reporting live in brandywine, alexandra limon fox 5 local news. tonight, public backlash is being aimed at dc public schools. the reason a shocking post by one of their spokes people who tweeted about her desire to abolish all white men. fox 5 local news tom fitzgerald is live at jenniny elementary school. you got an earful about this from residents. >> reporter: the reactions ran from shock and disbelief to calls for disciplinary action and possibly even firings. at issue here are a series of personal social media tweets by someone named hillary tone. you may not know her, she's the communications director for the dc public schools.

in fact she lists had he herself who tweets for at the official account at dc public school. on tone's personal twitter cannot. the school person quoted a news story about rick perry being named as donald trump's energy secretary. that's a department perry said he'd eliminate back in 2012. she commented. in that case, i'd like to be secretary of white men. didn't stop there. on her personal facebook page, she wrote, if one need to get something qualifies you to run it, i want to be secretary of white men. at some point this morning, tone's tone apparently changed because that first twitter post, that was deleted and replaced with a new post saying, internet, it kers to me that my tweet about white men earlier was in poor taste, my apologies. outside dc public schools headquarters, dc taxpayers we talked to, they had a lot of questions about

rain, maybe snow earlier, and it should be very cold. so here's the plan, 245,000 wreaths will be brought into arlington, 65 tractor-trailers will be parked in different locations throughout the cemetery. the people here are volunteer will fan out and place a wreath at each grave site, that's going to start at 10:00 in the morning, just today, wreaths across america told us they've reached the goal of donations needed to purchase the wreaths, they're just hoping, folks will show up. >> we're watching the weather closely. that's is our 25th year laying wreaths and we have a lot of die hard that come out. to quote one of my ranger friends, those who put on the uniform and serve in all kinds of weather and we don't have to worry about people shooting at us. >> reporter: so if you're going to come out, bring rain gear with you as well. just t

breaks news a man was shot near iverson mall >> lindsey, what are you hearing. >> reporter: we're across the street from iverson mall. police say that a man who was shot several times was driving car and he crashed it into the front of the iverson mall. the man driving was conscious and taken to the hospital. we were just over there a little closer to the scene, but mall security asked us to leave the property. so corporal l ama r robinson with the police came over to

charles caldwell's arrest, were he reached out to the governor's office for comment but it wasn't until last night we learned from the governor's spokesman that mr. hogan had asked for caldwell's resignation. at the statehouse, we had an opportunity to get the governor's take ton caldwell's arrest and here's what he had to say. >> we did it immediately after we got the news. i don't have the authority to remove him. but i just called in, we strongly suggest that day he resign and he agreed to do so. we thought, i was concerned about the incident, it was inappropriate for the chairman of the liquor board to be driving drunk and didn't think it was appropriate for him to continue to serve in that capacity >> this is video of charles caldwell can exclusively obtained showing the chairman of the liquor board under going a field sobriety test outside the mgm resort and casino, he cannot maintain his balance and police say he failed the test. according to a police report. caldwell refused to complete

saturday looks tricky, a variety of wet weather expected. outside right now, 44 washington, 40 baltimore, 37 gaithersburg, 34 in westminster, not too cold or harsh, you might want to hebeer night tomorrow night because even though it's 44 in washington, look at this cold air towards our north and west. 16 detroit, 15 chicago, 4 in the twin cities. that polar air starting to spill over and that will overtake the ohio valley. wet weather alerts, windchill advisory through the ohio valley down to this shenandoah mountains, the highest ridge tops we'll see fiercest winds. snow showers ahead of of that front, lake snow showers there, home here just could clouds that have been increasing. like i mentioned, snow showers are possible and they can be pretty fierce if you're underneath one of these, this is midnight, we like to call these snow

like mini blizzards. they will drop visibility to quickly with the force of cold air coming through. if you happen to be out late, that's what the happening. it won't last long, we do clear out as we head to the early morning hours on thursday. the snow squalls can be pretty. high pressure builds in very, very windy and they increase and reach their peak in the afternoon with gusts to 40 miles an hour. air temperatures in the 20's 30's. windchills in the single digits. by the time you hit the road, feels like 9 in winter weather, 1 in gaithersburg. this is why it's going to be quite a shock after the relatively mild weather we've been having so far. this week. friday is just as brutal, maybe not as much wind but just straight up cold. so you know, dress for this tomorrow. dress the kids for this, the pets, we got to watch them. fast forward to the weekend, low pressure rises up. brings a bit of a wintery mix

as the arctic air comes in. it has not arrived yet but single digit windchills to greet you for thursday morning. it's quite a shock to the system. this is the coldest air we've seen in december in six years coming into town, certainly the coldest air of this season but it's not here yet. 44 right now in the district. mid 30's out there. the breeze is not terrible but the cold air is banked up on the other side of the mountains, it's 16 in detroit. it's 12 in chicago. two degrees in minneapolis, two below in far go and's plenty of pink on the map. all of that pushing in our direction, while it's going to probably not be below zero, we're going to top out in the 20's tomorrow. we got clouds. nothing really showing up on radar but when front comes through, a little bit later tonight, we're going to go give you time frame of 9:00, 10:00 till about 2:00 in the morning, possible there could be just enough moisture and lift for
