yesterday how long that body was in the bathroom, or how long it went uncovered still unknown at this time. still a developing story here breaking in the last hour. of course, we'll keep you posted at 6:00. back to you in the studio. now to prince george country where one woman is dead and another man is in the hospital after a sungle car crash in laurel. >> police spent several hours investigating the scene and matt ackland is live in laurel. what you can tell us, matt. >> it happened a couple hours ago behind me at old sandy spring road across the street there. you may be able to make out the tree. the car was removed an hour and a half ago. it came off the road and hit that tree. i want to take you to video and show you what it looked like earlier today. laura, officials say 58-year-old sanjaya smith of baltimore was killed in the accident and she was a passenger in the car. the driver was male and he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. at first there was some confusion over whether

occupants in the car may have been injured before the accident. and that turned out not to be the case. take a listen. >> there was some earlier reports about other injuries sustained at this accident and we now believe and it's still under investigation, that other injuries that were reported earlier were as a result this car accident. a lot of people exercise, walk and run on this road and luckily somebody deposit get hit. >> all right. just a recap here. one female was killed in this accident. one male in critical condition at a local hospital. we were told by the police chief who was on the scene today, that this session is underway. so far no cause behind this accident is known and has been made public that could happen in the future. for now, live in laurel, ma matt ackland, "fox5 local news". >> and a mana assaulting a

police have not identified the suspect yet. they say he's responsible for two robbys in original west one happening june and other in november and a third robbery that happened in southwest earlier this month. investigators say -- >> investigators say the same man was involved in this assault on a special police officer on fourth street southwest. this incident happened two weeks ago and police are looking for several other people involved in the assault. we now know the" identity of a man shot and killed by d.c. police officer on christmas morning. he's gerald hall of northeast d.c.. police say officers were called to a home on walnut street fwor a testimonyestic disturbance, investigators say when officer arrived hall was carrying a knife. officers ordered him to put the knife down when he refutesed an officer shot him. paul died at a hospital. the officer involved is on administrative leave. >> tonight there are new signs popping up in a chevy chase neighborhood where vice-president elect mike pence is renting a home p

now according to the leonard pelteer web site the goal of the project is to honor him as a "symbol of native stru struggle for self determination in north america" they believe he was wrongryly sentenced and there's hope president obama will grant him clemencey. they have used leonard's own self port troots create the nine football statue dedicated during human rights week. peltz has been dedicated a political prisoner by am nesty international. many find trouble with this effort to free him and they believe his convictions were fair and just. i spoke with steve pomerantz he is spormer assistant fbi director to tell me more about his thoughts. >> when i see this i'm outraged because i know to the except anybody could possibly know that this man received a fair trial, is guilty

there. you cannot warm up too much. 46 washington and 43 gaithersburg and 46 dulles and 46 leonardtown and obviously temperatures well above freezing and not concerned about any type of winter weather coming in. and winds fairly calm today. 5 to 10 miles an hour and out of the south, southeast now they will switch out of the northwest by foam as the cold front comes through and they are expected to increase. those winds. now, mostly, going to see the higher gusts norm and west of washington. wind advisories have been issued and takes effect 8 p.m. tonight to 10 a.m. tuesday and washington county, maryland looks like loudoun county virginia and along the ridge tops you can see the higher gusts over 40 miles an hour at times. tracking that cold front on our future cast, you see showers rumble through western pennsylvania and west virginia that would be overnight tonight and 7 a.m. we have a couple showers towards north and west and notice this front as it moves through and all the models do this. breaks up that moisture real, real fast. any morning clouds are passing

take out we're in d.c. and there's no sign of human civil vacation. i could be out in west strir vir or in a canyon somewhere and completely forget that i'm 15 maint way from metro buses and traffic and poll iing titions and everything going on in the city and i can totally escape. the spot that's most fun on river you can see the chain bridge come into view and whether early morning before work battle or after work battle i do take a little bit of pleasure when i snap back to reality and see i'm in a major metropolitan area. there's people stuck in traffic and i'm out here enjoying some amazing whitewater. in the zone sort of like in this flow where you cannot think about anything else. so any other stresses of your daily life are

pushed out the only thing you hear is rush of whitewater and you're very much in that moment. you cannot think of anything else other than what you're doing and it's incredibly relaxing if i'm really stressed out you know okay acting wants to california m you down. the kayaking lifts me up. brings me to this middle state. >> you cannot beat the river. >> like the river always wins. the river is more powder full than any padler will ever be and you cannot overcome that what can do is learn how to work with the river and use power and energy of the river and utilize features of this to get where you want to go and so i think sort
