about something far more serious, the gunman who opened fire inside a night club in turkey on new years eve killing 39 people is still oh run, the attacker killed a policeman and party goers from at least six different countries, eight people were detained in connection with the attack but the gunman wasn't one of them. nearly 70 people were hurt in that attack. including a man from delaware. isis has claimed responsibility for the attack. back here at home. somber start to the new year for students at howard high school. this after their classmate 16 yard charlotte was shot and killed inside her home this weekend. fox 5 melanie alnwick is live outside with how she's being remembered and honored. >> reporter: this whole incident is just so bee wildering to people who knew 16-year-old charlotte. she's certainly being mourned this morning by teacher' and her fellow students, they say she was the kind of person who was active in the community. loved to volunteer, and always brought a smile with her and

hard time coming to term with this shooting. many of her friends now posting on social media, as a way to work through their grief, sharing pictures, and memories of charlotte. it was 2:00 a.m. sunday when howard county police raced to the home on noel glen road. her mother heard a scuffle in her daughter's bedroom, when susan went to check it out. she found a 15-year-old boy with a gun in her daughter's bedroom. should you shot by the boy who shot her daughter, charlotte and shot himself. charlotte was medivaced to the hospital but did not survive. susan was treated and released. >> i haven't cried yet but i've wanted to throw up all day. >> reporter: difficult emotions from all of those people here in the community. now, at this point, police say it is unclear

making headlines a daring demonstration at an nfl game. this was at the bears vikings game yesterday. two people went to extreme measures to protect the dakota access pipeline, used ropes and harnesses to get hundreds of feet above the field in minneapolis. they displayed a banner urging them to divest from the u.s. pipeline. they claim they have $175 million in credit lines to one of the parent companies of the dakota access pipeline. both men were arrested for trespassing. queen elizabeth said to be feeling better after suffering from a heavy cold. concerns intensified after she missed new year's day church service. she later released a prerecorded video sending her congratulations to the people of canada for the 150th year of confederate duration. she also missed a christmas church service last week. that was for the first time in decades. controversial statute
