north-northeast at 7:00. current conditions trying to show we have thunderstorms do, not have any thunderstorms, event heard reports of any. heavy rain, darker colors, yellow and the darker green, indicating some pretty good rain rates inside the belt way and the immediate area here. so, certainly if you are out on the roadways, be prepared for some ponding out there, and some difficult driving conditions as the rain just not going to let up for a few more hours. i think by early afternoon, we should start to get into some scattered showers, but heavy rain here, over the near term, as we got area of low pressure just off to the south and west, out in kentucky early this morning, pressing through the area, keep temps cool, we don't get out of the 40's today, chilly afternoon, and again, rain, through mid-afternoon, i think the evening commute will be a little bit drier, with temperatures never getting out of the #'s here, lots going on in the seven day, including some snowflakes, i'll have detail on that coming up in a couple of minutes, before you guys get to the toddler video, holly broke it down like nancy drew this

they say this is actually strengthening the ethics process, because no longer do we have redundancy in the system, they say that this also provides some privacy protection, for members of congress, and there still will be ethics investigations. but there will no longer be if this goes through, an independent ethics committee, and that is what democrats are very concerned about. but again, that has to go before full vote in the house today, after everybody gets sworn in. it is just one thing on a very long to-do list. >> it is time to, you know, get our game face on, and get working here. >> for the gop, number one tarring set obamacare, and that's the reason president obama will head to the hill tomorrow to try to figure out a way to save his signature healthcare law. for republicans, the real challenge may be unifying around a plan that somehow saves so many of the more popular aspects of the program, while getting rid of things like the individual

insurance. >> the hard part is the replace. and republicans have had a lot of plans for number of years now, but this time they have to pick one. and that's a party unite behind it and pass it, that's going to take some genuine hard work. >> democrats will mount some aggressive plays, as well, planning on making it as difficult as possible for president-elect trump to win confirmations for his cabinet picks. specifically, targeting eight of them for long, drag-out bat that is could continue for weeks beyond the inauguration. >> there is a difference between opposing people on policy and allowing people to have the constitutional, the president to have the constitutional right to choose his cabinet as long as they're qualified. and each one of these people is unbelievably qualified to serve and to bring real change to the various departments that are on the government. >> first up today, with constant representative paul ryan, does have to run again, has to be re-elected, as speaker of the house, after that, which is expected to go through without a hitch, then the

representatives will be sworn in. so 115 congress gets underway at noon today. and our friends at the hill tell us that it is the most racially differs congress in history. live on capitol hill, melanie, fox5 local news. mel, thank you. to the trump transition now, the president-elect, bark on twitter. >> this time he appears to be engaging north korea and china. on sunday north korean leader kim jong un said preparations for launching nuclear weapon have, quote, reached the final stage. donald trump tweeted: north korea just stated that it is in the final stages of developing a nuclear weapon capable of reaching the us. it won't happen. he then followed that tweet up with one directed at china, accusing chinese of not stepping in to stop north korea's nuclear program. he tweeted: china has been taking out massive amounts of money and wealth from the us and in totally one sided trade, but won't help with north korea unite.

saying trump is quote pants erring the irresponsible attitude. >> back here at home now, still more questions than answers after the deadly city in ellicott sit, maryland. >> mom opened the door, police say, a 15 year old boy shot her, then shot and killed her daughter before turning the gun on himself. now today police are expected to tell us more about what happened. fox5's bob barnard live in ellicott city waiting on details now, bob? >> reporter: hey, wisdom, outside the howard county police department headquarters. here in ellicott city, where we hope to learn today the identity of this 15 year old alleged killer. he remains in shock trauma in baltimore. he allegedly shot himself in the head after killing charlotte, and who was 16 years old, and wounding charlotte's mother, in their home, here in ellicott city. >> this was early sunday morning around 2:00 a.m. new years day. we don't know the relationship between the 15 year old gunman

years old. howard high school sophomore. this happened in her bedroom, on noll glenn road here in ellicott city. and as you mention, the mother heard a noise, went in there, she was shot, police say, the 15 year old boy, then shot charlotte, killing her, and then shot himself in the head. we don't know the relationship. the motive behind this, no charges have been filed yet. obviously this 15 year old is a new nile. so police haven't quickly put out his name a juvenile. they did say today, this morning, here at police headquarters in ellicott city we will get an update on this very truck case, guys. >> looking for the update. nine past the hour right now. how about this hg tv coming to washington dc? we'll try to put as many letters in there as we can. >> asap. >> right? couple of real estate rehab ers, join reality, what it takes to make it as a dc flipper. >> first though a tiny hero? a toddler saving his twin

this was captured on surveillance camera, but this moring, there are questions about whether the video was real, whether it could be a hoax, holly, taking a close look, in fact, before this talking about it, i can't believe that anyone might, might have faced this. >> i'll just give you the facts. everybody can form their own opinion, right? so there is video, really is incredible. let's go a heads, walk through exactly what the parent claim happened. the boy's father posted the video to facebook, and youtube, saying his twin sons, were playing in the bedroom when the book shelf fell on top of brock. they were climbing up on the drawers whether it caused this to fall over. that's when their dad said brody sprung into action, managed to push the dresser off his brother. now, their dad says he and his

time. they didn't hear any kinds of commotion at all. and, they didn't realize anything had actually happened, until his wife went and checked on the boys, few minute later, and then saw the dresser, on the grounds. and, it wasn't until even later then that dad checked the security camera, did finds what the little boy d posted it to facebook saying i've been a little hesitant to post this, but not only to bring awareness, but so grateful that the bond these twin brother share. we know brody was not alone in moving the dresser off brock, and feel blessed that he's okay. please make sure all of your dressers are bolted and secured to the wall. please share. now, this is, when reserve searching the story, what made me skeptical. we don't show video of the dresser falling. you can see the dresser totally empty. there is nothing in the drss

because i'm like why is there an empty dress nerve there? now, some might say, well, they are changing clothes over for the season, or maybe then just got a new dresser. i feel like when these people reported this story, in a detailed letter to the local television station that you might say we just bought a new dresser and that's why there is nothing in it. that's what made it so light. so when the kids climbed in it, it would fall over. even if you don't buy that excuse, on his facebook page, the dad's fast book page, he works for smart holmes. in his letter to fox 13, in utah, he said: he referenced how incredible the security camera was. >> oh,. >> that captured all of this. and he just happens to work for viven smart phones, that also makes me a little skeptical as to the motive. >> the first thing, before you said that, how perfectly framed this shot is, and

money, and that type of thing, would people watch watch are they going to see with the two of you guys? i'm guessing you won't always be on the same page or it wouldn't be good tv? >> see inter play, a lot of debates where to spends money. >> so who is the money person? who wants to spends the money hoon is the one fiscally conservative? >> rob is the budgets guy. >> that's what i was waiting for. >> the bad guy. >> so you're coming up with the big vision. >> yes. >> you have to collectively figure out how we can make this work? >> exactly, because i want the house to be a place that we would live in. right? and a lot of times sometimes that requires a lot more money than we have a budget for. so rob is like the voice of reason then it, comes in. >> have to rain her in, okay, that's a great idea. but maybe we go a different route and spend a little bit less money, and it will still be awesome, but just not super awesome. >> yes. >> so it sounds like part of your style, if we could go with that, whether it comes to these houses, because obviously, you want it to look

into, but making money, too, the idea to profit off of t it sounds like your style is to mix, you know, the classic, the something might be look fancy but not cost a lot of money does that seem accurate? >> yes, just like with every other industry or trend, creative trends that we do like to do the high and low, we like to spend money on the things that really matter, and then the things that we can subbase taught, we will do that. but our goal, with every place that we buy, even if there are some budget renovations there, what the budget renovation looking like a million dollars. >> so it will air sunday night, a house in pet worth watch do you like about pet worth? >> it was a great neighborhood. i mean, got great central location, it is easy to get to, lots of parts in d.c. from pet worth. and, you know, it is really booming right there around the metro stop. there have been lot of new development, restaurants popping up. it is a great neighborhood in d.c. >> and pet worth

the things that's my favorite things about pet worth is, you know, they've got this porch culture. you have these beautiful award winning style houses, real homes, and you have nice porches. you get to know your neighbors, that kind of thing. so i think it is definitely really dynamic -- dynamic, beautiful architecture. >> one question i had. dc is known to have high cost housing market. it is not easy to buy a home here. can you profit off of this? is flipping still something in 2017 that is profitable in washington, d.c.? >> it is tough. you know, it is really challenging. like you said, the cost of housing is so high. so, even place that is need a loft work are still very expensive. so, you know, we just are constantly looking foreplays cents, always kind of on the look-out, trying to find a good deal. it is challenging, it is competitive, but you can still do it. >> so you really need to have the expertise to find that property that you know if you're paying high price to get in, that you know you still have a ceiling there to make up for it. >> and we look at maybe 100
