the public here. there has been a lot going on here today. it is still an active scene as you can see. i want to take you through everything that happened step by step. this afternoon, there was a double shooting in this town home where police and firefighters are focused on covered wagon lane and there were two victims and police say they took themselves to the hospital and that brought them to the townhouse where the shooter wased in the house. there was a standoff and fire and then officer-involved shooting and that injured the suspect and that person was taken to the hospital. during the standoff we heard several loud bangs, flash bangs. we want to let you listen to those and show you some video from when we first arrived

from when we first arrived all right and we want to let you know we're just getting breaking information just hearings that the suspect in this case is dead after an officer-involved shooting. you can see in the video this was a frantic scene. we saw swat officers running with their guns and a lot of neighbors who were brought out watching all of this. still a lot of people standing out around us right now. we are waiting for an update from fairfax country police we're expecting a spokesperson to come over any minute now. what we're hearing the latest information is that the suspect in this double shooting is now dead. reporting live, lindsey watts, "fox5" whole news. >> we'll keep you updated on that situation tonight, meanwhile, thanks but no thanks that's a word to incoming trump administration from xhaepder of the d.c. national guard. >> the commander set to xhapd during the inauguration was told he was out of a job friday at noon and after a backlash of

caught in the cross fire of a gun battle. family members say vivian mara was on the way to the corner store when shot. >> a second victim man was wounded in the change of gunfireel van road and stanton road southeast. great-grandmother shot in the head after she road her powered scooter from the apartment to the corner store. caught in the cross fire in a shootout that has so far no explanation. >> really messed up. i don't know really a loss of words because my mom was wonderful laid write an she looked ought for all my family and cousins and some of the people up there called her mom you know what i'm saying. >> vivian was 67 years old. a fixture in this complex where at one time she was known as the candy lady. always looking out for the little ones. d.c. police spent hours working the crime scene. marking shell casing after shell casing after shell casing. >> like i said it's preliminary but looks like there was exchange of gun fire. >> do you have a weapon on the scene. >> we do not. >> a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation says the second person hit an adult male may have also been caught in the cross fire. but that is still under investigation.
