saw the most egregious of the acts. this individual is video is of several cars torched by these criminals, this guy as protesters they didn't first smashed the windows in the vehicles then tossed the flares into the car, which ultimately left the cars burning in the middle of the street. we spoke with a driver of a burned limousine. it's his first television interview. chose not to show his face or reveal identity because of the harassment he has faced while simply trying to do his job. >> then there was -- and there was an suv behind me, i opened the door. i said a small flame already on the carpet that i step on it. take the out. smash it on the floor and that's it. everybody in this country. has the

promises, which was cutting government spending and he plans on doing so at least partly through government jobs, putting a hiring freeze on government jobs. the parade was at mant today in the oval office signing that memorandum that military personnel, he said, will be exempt's from the hiring freeze. this is not unheard of. this directive is similar to one that president george w bush signed at the start of his administration in 2001. there are still questions as to how this will play out in the next few months. the office of management and budget has decisions to make. >> within 90 days, the office of management and budget. the budgetary arm of the white house has to come up with a plan a long-term plan for all how it would like to cut the federal workplace through attrition. if you're a federal employee working in a job, this shouldn't affect your

cetera. it also says that agencies can look at possible exemptions, they're going to have to go through a process in order to do that, particularly if they need those people for a specific mission need. >> reporter: positions for like national security and public and healthy and safety could be exempted. but it's unclear right now if that means civilians at the department of defense would be exempted from this, this is something we understand lawyers are looking at in this directive at this point. critics say that in the long run, this will eventually cost the taxpayers more money. the federal employees union coming out and saying this will only force the government to have to hire contract workers which are more expensive to do work that federal employees can do for far less. that's the latest here at the white house, sarah simmons fox 5 local news.

the weather. have you spent any time outside it's been wet and windy, caused problems across our region. check out what happened at this house in an dale. a tree fell on the home this afternoon. part of the home is used as a day care center, luckily, no one was hurt when the tree fell. i want to check in with sue to find out what we can expect for the rest of the night. >> hi there, tony and shawn, the winds were crazy and we had a lot of rain as you well know. winds will be gusty tomorrow, maybe not up to 45 and 50 like today, keep an eye on the trees, some may be coming down and branchs will be loose. as for what we can expect the rest of tonight, we still have a few light showers mixed with snow off to the west. it's not a lot. this is mostly very light or drizzle. we're also keeping a close eye on temperatures. you can see that this bands are spiralling to our area in response to this nor'easter off the coast that brought us the heavy rain and the strong winds earlier. still blustery out there. storm is still trying to

its way up the coast and we have a little bit of moisture that tries to redevelop. we're going to keep light showers even mixed with snow in the forecast for next few hours for the morning i think it will mainly just be a little bit of drizzle. our low will slowly pull away overnight we've got to keep some moisture in and also got to tell you that at least one of our in-house models wants to continue to try to spread a little bit of light snow through the area. although for the most part, here's good news, temperatures will be above freezing tonight. that's not the case out to our north and west. weather weather advisory have been posted. those will go until 5:00. we've had a few spots, three four inches of snow, winchester you had about two 10:s of an inch. dulles had a trace of snow. don't be shocked if you see a little bit more tonight. when we get to tomorrow morning, it should be drizzle and by afternoon, i think we're finally going to see the sun feels like the

deadly shooting. she was murdered over a week ago in hillcrest heights. she was a black woman between 25 and 30. about five foot six and 125 ponds. she has several tattoos. detectives are still working to find a suspect or motive in the case. fox 5 in montgomery county a judge sentence add woman to life in prison for helping murder her husband's ex-wife. a jury conflicted her of teaming up with her husband to kill his ex-wife in 2013. a day before the court hearing she was found dead. surveillance cameras recorded her and her husband buying the murder wonderful prosecutors were happy with the sentence. >> we basically had a retrial of the first trial. that the basis upon which they credited, the basis upon which this trial was

police believe those teenagers got away with $12,000 worth of clothing. so far, no arrests have been made in any of these flash mob robbery cases. and at this point, it's unclear if any of them are related. that's the latest here in georgetown anjali hemphill, fox 5 local news. as we told you earlier, president trump had a busy day but actually hit the ground running over the weekend. dc's interim police chief peter newsham was part of the first group to be welcomed to the white house, he thanked law enforcement official whose provided security during the inauguration, secret service director james clan si and james comey also attended that weekend meeting. . developing tonight, an ethics watch dog group is suing president trump for violating the constitution by allowing his business to accept payments from foreign governments. the president claims he hassed handed over control of his global real estate and licensing to his two older sons

nearly a been a sunday is being blamed for the death of four people. increases the death toll of severe storms to 20 across the southeast. one of those deaths was in florida. this was in miami springs earlier. the storms knocked down huge trees and power line, a number of homes and businesses suffered damage. >> we had all the gusty wind in our area part of the same system >> exactly the same that made a mess in georgia and luis and mississippi and florida, we got the strong winds and rain but we didn't have the severe element but boy we had to put up with a lot and interesting we would have a nor'easter on this day, because last year on this day, we had -- it's hard to believe we seen so little snow this year.

how much was this that started on january 22'nd and concluded on january 23rd about this time, 17.8 inches at reagan national. that was the fourth greatest snowstorm for reagan national. do you remember everybody just spewted, that number. dulles got 23.3 inches and 29.2 at dwi made the biggest snowstorm they've ever had. we remember it well. couldn't even get home at least a lot of people here in dc. they commute up to 70 because they closed 270 do you remember? it was the first for me after 30 years and lots of snowstorms. tonight is not cold enough for us to get the snow, but if it had been, we probably would have had anywhere from five to ten inches of snow today is drizzle and light rain that lingers tonight and yet, some of you have seen is snow. maybe some flakes mixed in. but seemed as though temperatures for most of the area a

freezing tonight. i don't think it will drop too much. i'm concerned there could be a little bit of patchy icing in the morning. check out mike thomas and tucker barnes tomorrow morning. we're staying breezy on tuesday. it's not going to gust to 40 or 50. by the way at 10:00 philadelphia had a gust of 51 miles an hour i just noticed. we're going to cut down to ten to 20 miles an hour gusts but this day will be wednesday plan accordingly. i believe temperatures at about how far 60 for many of us, but that's just ahead of the next cold front. that comes through on thursday. and it will have our temperatures dropping throughout the day and getting back to more winter reality at least in the cold as we get later in the week. average high is 44. tomorrow near 50 in the city. but suburban areas will be in the 40's. keep in mind with that breeze it will feel colder, you'll want to bundle up against that. how about 61 on wednesday? we ditch the wind. 53 on thursday, although we'll hit that

throughout the day. which brings us to friday with a temperature of 45. we're definitely getting colder later this week. we've been watching radar closely because one of our computer models is still pretty bullish on the fact we're going to go see a little bit more light rush hour and snow shower mixing in. you can the first badge diminishing. then others picking up action, we still have our system coming up the coast with a new piece of energy beginning to get pulled in. is that going to create a little bit more moisture tonight? it's possibly we think it will mostly be rain, because of the proximity of this strong coastal low, can't eliminate a little bit of snow in the forecast especially in the weather weather advisory area that is we have out to the north and west it will go until 5:00 in the morning, the seven-day forecast 50 tomorrow, 61, sunny mild delightful wednesday, getting colder thursday, we start in the 50's and drop into the weekend. looks like we're going to be in the mid 40's as we begin
