paul. >>reporter: i'm on your been a lane. let me tell you what happenedat here according on police. i was just after 2:00 this afternoon that a father and son were sitting in a dodge suv. they are were parked up this street all the way at the end. there's a park back there. that's where police say theay t shooting took place, the son t whos what behind the wheel drove that suv right up here and it stopped right here in the middle of the street. that's where police found theme shot insidepoli the suv. let's show you some video thatdo we shot earlier today. according to police it was the son that was behind the wheel ol the vehicle. the father was sitting in the backseat the father was woundedu a at least twice in the leg. the son had a grace wound to the arm. when the police pulled these two out of that suv they found theun father was sitting on top of a handgun and they also found what appeared to be

marijuana inside the car. these two were then taken to a nearby hospital and they were treated. they do not have life threatening injuries at thisg in point. there was an extensive search in this neighborhood which againich the chief is saying is a highly unusual place for something like this to take place. they brought in a presidentiden could. they brought in k9 teams. they brought in a lot of police officers not objection to theot form from the bow i police department, but objm th from thm george's county police department asge's well.s and they searched for this gunman but they came up empty handed. here's what the chief had to sao about the suspect in the case. the initial lookout was given for a dark complected hispanicsn male with blew jeans and curlyry hair. we set up the perimeter.rime we could not locate the suspect at this i am too.. this is where we stand at the moment. by foot. >> he was on foot. you put the schools on lock down for

>>reporter: here's what's going on. for the last 72 hours, this, story which has been going around that secretary of homeland security john kelly was somehow frozen out of the decision making from the white house on this executive order has been repeatedly constantly to the point where today inside this building kelly had had enough. he he went on the record to say that not only was he nott surprised by any of this today that homeland security stafferse kelly says, actually helped draft this executive order. redid know the eo was coming. we had people involved in the general drafting of it. clearly it was -- this wholele approach was part of what then candidate trump talked about for a year or two.o. so we knew all that was coming.g so secretary kelly, can i sayy that none

surprise. he also laid out a timeline for all of this. kelly says that he reviewed thee at least two drafts of this executive order before it was ever signed and then learned on thursday night that it was going to be actually signed on friday. why it wasn't secretary kelly there, he had a pretty goodetty reason that's because he was down in miami meeting with homeland security officials. about this banas it's being's called and the white house has pushed back very strong on that term saying it is not a refugee ban, it is not an immigration ban, the white house put a number yesterday saying that 109 rev gentlemens from theseom affected countries had been allow in. turns out today we learned thatd number was wrong, it was way way off, there are hundreds of refugees from these sevenen countries that have been allow in. today we got figures from the us customs and

welcome back. a heart warming reunion tooknion place in adelphi maryland thiss morning. take you back to 1959, a fire swept through a home on 25th avenue in hyattsville. two children, ages two and three were trapped in the burning hope, but a firefighter helpedri with the rescue.e. the children now groan put out a note on facebook they wanted toa meet the people who safed their lives. so today one of those former firefighters stew newman want reunited with behind april and b michaele heart. wow, all these later. newman i84

but he remembers what happened as if it were yesterday. i do remember handing linda out the window to the police officeh who thaw wase on the ladder in the rear of building. taking michael out off the bed. it was very smokey up there. i got onto the stairwell and took my air mask off and put it on his face because he was without air a lot longer than i was. got downs stairs to the ambulance. i didn't go with him. really an emotional day for linda and michael and their pamm list. they say they're indebted to newman. linda actually worked here at fox5 back in the 1970s.s. wow. it's amazing.ng like family reuniting somebody. the little connections.nnec any of you out there who volunteer or if you serve as a firefighter, it's amazing. i would imagine those things stick with
