happy friday, everybody. boy what a week. >> new sanctions against iran, an executive order. and democrats planning a come back. >> as you can see these are some of the top talkers at 6:30, tweet us what's on your mine using #5at630. president trump imposed sanctions in response to the missile testing last weekend. they target 13 feeble and a dozen
6:31 pm
the trump administration maintains none are the iran nuclear deal. president trump tweeted they're playing with fire they won't appreciate how kind president obama was to them. not me. here is jordan staff writer for the hill. some people would say whoa it's long overdue but at the same time, what do you believe, the fall-out can be >> they want the take a tougher approach on iran but if you look at the penalties they're narrow. these aren't broad sanctions against iran, they're not reimposing penalties lifted under the iran deal, i think we're going to have to wait and see whether the trump administration will back off its tough talk with tougher action >> seems to be like a pretty scary game of chicken with both sides kind of going back and forth he
6:32 pm
these sanctions have been in play for months. these are things that are starting to be keyed up under the obama administration. and basically what the trump administration did was looked at a bench of options. ok, these are ready to go and used a missile test as a reason to put them in place. again, i think they want to take a tougher stance toward iran as far as whether they're going to escalate it. we're going to have to wait and see >> what do you believe our relations with our countries, iran, its allies, does this play into any politics there? >> certainly. the trump administration is looking to forgery a closer relationship with israel and saudi arabia, united arabs, other countries are going to be happy with this. they were not happy with the way president obama tried approach
6:33 pm
the trump administration is going to be doing things backing them up >> in response to the sanction that is the u.s. levied against iran, how much of an impact will they really have? >> little. the companies, and individuals who are sanctioned today by the united states, they don't a ton of exposure to u.s. markets of there's really going to be a minimal effect i think on our banking silver line those entities tobacco iran, one interesting thing from this is iran decided to ban a u.s. wrestling team from participating in a tournament that is taking place in a few weeks in iran, so for those members of that team, certainly disappointing. >> the eyes of the world will certainly be watching this. staff writer for hill, thanks so much for coming in jordan

fabian. >> president trump signed two more executive orders. before he left the white house to spend a weekend in florida. one of the orders targeted the doh,d frank act. it directing the secretary treasure to review regulations on financial institutions and report back specific recommendations to the president. john max field senior banking analyst joins us via skype from portland, thanks for joining us. >> my pleasure. >> this doesn't exact dollar away with dod frank. it's starting to explore it. what we heard was the trump administration wants to change or dismantle it. what does this mean >> there's give and take. on the one side, you're balancing these, you know, desire to have economic growth, banks play a really important role in that. if you put heavy
6:35 pm
them, you're going to necessarily have a negative impact on growth. on the other side of that, you're balancing that against the safety of the father system on the one hand and also the safety of the consumer. if you look at what the executive order today is kind of hinting that they're going to do, they're going to reduce the consumer protections. that's one part of it. but at the same time, that could have an impact of reducing the cost of the financial products. really, what it will come down to is how these things are actually put into place. which we just don't know about right now. because the executive order comes to the point that he just made was really general in nature. >> that's the thing. we're waiting for these specifics. do you think he's really going to have challenges? given, you know, he does have the republicans on his side. is he going to have challenges trying to get anything
6:36 pm
dismantled? >> you know, the thing that you have to keep in mind in terms of dod frank when it was passed it was not a bipartisan piece of legislation. there was only a handful that voted for it. because the republicans control obviously the executive branch and both houses of congress, they all seem to be pretty much on board with easing back the regulations that were put into place by the dodfrank act. i don't think they're saying and i don't think they're interested in getting rid of the whole thing, but it does sound like they want to certainly tailor it in a number of important respect >> we heard the president say he wanted to to do this to sort of ease the constraints on banks so they can get back to lending
6:37 pm
more companies. how will that play with president trump and the folks in middle america who voted for them who maybe lost their houses in the big housing bubble and the financial crisis? >> that is a really good question. that's a really good question. that remains to be seen. what i'll say is that, you know, on the one hand, there is kind of this -- and it's an age old thing that goes back to the beginning of the united states, that's kind of distrust of large financial institution to where, you know, if you ease up on the regulatory burdens on these large financial institutions particularly after what happened in the financial crisis, you would this that can his base, in particular, wouldn't like that, but at the same time you have that overaveraging anti-regulatory fervor that is consistent with his base. again, it's a balancing act. will they prefer the fact that he's doing away with regulations as he's promised? will they hold him accountable for fact he ran on
6:38 pm
anti-wall street platform but looks like he's embracing certainly wall street not only in the construction. >> seems like a lot of executive orders we're going to have to wait and see. john max field, thank you so much for talking with us. >> my pleasure. thank you for having me. >> let's check in with gwen tolbert. it's going to be cold, so if you aren't in houston and you got to watch the super bowl on fox 5. go inside to watch it. >> definitely. that is a thumbs up on that one. and the cold starts tonight. started today. but tonight it will be chilly. take a look at our overnight low. temperatures into the 20's. we even have a single digit to the northwest. 19 in hagerstown, 23 in martinsberg, 25 in manassas, 26 at quantico and 26 in dc. now, skies will be clearing tonight in the ridge of high pressure builds in, into the weekend, we're going to end up feeling the
6:39 pm
sure. those temperatures dropping daytime highs tomorrow will only be into the 40's. not quite as windy tomorrow as it was today. we had gusts and definitely significant windchills and those windchills still sticking around in terms of tonight. but here's what we're talking about for your weekend forecast. we move through into saturday. skies will be bright and really nice, you think i don't have to worry about it. yes, you do. it's only going to be 41 degrees, and on sunday, we start to warm up. headed to 52. so we're going to go see that warmup continues once we move into the week. daytime planner by midday tomorrow, 36 with the sunshine, once we get into wednesday, take a look at the difference, we're going to be at 63 degrees, unbelievable. we've got wet weather on both ties and wednesday, days where you'll need the umbrella. gradual warmup starts on sunday. clouds start to increase by the time we t

monday, tuesday and wednesday, that's when we start to see the changes. we cool back down again, look at the end of week, back to reality by entitlement that rolls around. back to you. >> it's nice to get those warmer temperatures. >> love it. >> thank you, gwen. president trump has been in office 14 days and democrats already planning their next move to try and take back the house in the next election. the 5at630 will be right back. ack.
6:42 pm
6:43 pm
>> you wrote and talked about this. let me ask you, how are the democrats planning to use all of these recent marches and enthusiasm to make changes for 2018? >> the plan is basically take all the energy that you're seeing in these protests both in the women's march and after the immigration orders last week and kind of, you know, basically turn that into votes. come 2018, when every member of the house will be up for reelection, and that's when they see their real chance to strike back in a real way at president trump. and with what the democrats campaign arm is trying to do is get an early jump and make sure people don't forget, this is their opportunity to make that change. >> that's a long time to keep the momentum going since -- i don't know if they've ever started this early. we just had an election and they're starting to campaign what do they need to do to keep that
6:44 pm
we don't even have candidates yet that have come up and said haircut i'm going to run. do you think there needs to be some looking into some of these people were part of the protesting for potential candidates? >> well, you know, that's an interesting point. what's clear is this is earlier than democrats has ever put boots on ground in these districts, you know, we're in 20 different districts across the country they're going to have people there to coordinate with grass roots protests and activities who are motivated to show up on a week to week basis. when their officials know how they feel about this stuff, and whether some of these people become actual candidates that remains to be seen. i believe that, you know, they have a whole recruiting arm that looks for the strong responsible candidates they don't run in these races and i think that's the process that is
6:45 pm
play out over the course of months. but what it allows you to have an infrastructure and allow you say to have a, you know, some familiarity with what the dynamics are in a particular district in a first hand way that you don't have otherwise. >> what are some of these 20 districts where they've going to have boots on the ground and how do they pick these districts >> you know, a lot of them are districts where they fought hard in 2016, suburban districts and places like pennsylvania, colorado, some other states, you know, these tend to be places where hillary clinton did well, beat donald trump in a lot of these districts, but they have, you know, well-known republican congress men and perhaps didn't have the strongest candidates and run the strongest
6:46 pm
last time. you'll see them target republican lawmakers. these are also districts are hillary clinton won. surprisingly, in places like texas, dallas and houston, and suburban -- far suburban chicago district also been considered a safe republican district. they're looking at new targets they haven't looked at before. they think this might be their chance >> how do you think they make the case for that push for whoever, you know, the democrats would put out there for potential candidates given the fact we're not that far into the presidential trump administration, how can they make the case for, you know, to vote democrats next time around? >> well, i mean, so much is going to depend on what happens in the next, you know, however many months, 20 months, 21 months. we're a long w
6:47 pm
it's kind of hard to make predictions. they got to go through a process of finding candidates and raising money and you know, running campaigns. but this is a sign that they think they have an opportunity here to really, you know, take advantage of this activistism that's been on display >> i want to completely switch gears, who do you got for the super bowl this weekend >> i have to say i'm not much of a patriots fan, go falcons >> that's exactly what you wanted to hear. >> are you ready? >> are you ready? >> patriots and falcons fans are not the only people expected to gather that houston this

countdown is on. two days away from super bowl 51 here on fox. with the big game in houston, many residents are cashing in by renting their homes to super bowl fans on sites like air b and b and craig's list. according to air b and b. houston homeowners are expected to rake in a total of $3.7 million, tiny one bedrooms are going for $1,000 a night while luxury homes are asking about $4,000 a night. apartment one going for $10,000 a night. i think we've done that here in dc too. >> back during the inauguration. >> $10,000 house better come with tickets to the game. >> exactly. >> you know? well, thousands of people are in houston for the big game. crowds also expected to be there to protest president trump. fox joel waldman joining us from
6:51 pm
what are you hearing about the protesters's plans? >> reporter: shawn and sarah, good evening, that $10,000 air b and b appeals in comparison to some of the most expensive ticket to say for super bowl 51 which are being sold for close to $75,000. 75,000 bucks and to put it in perspective, i was at game seven of the world serious tickets were going for about $60,000. the average much lower, the average about 4300, the lowest tickets are about 2800. it's going to cost you. back to the original question, you know, it is the great american game, along with that comes great american protests being planned. there were protesters out today that, from what i'm hearing shutdown part of a highway for a period of time and there are protests that are specifically targeted against president trump's immigration
6:52 pm
travel ban, and others are calling a muslim ban, so there is quite a bit of controversy over that. and they're expecting a good amount of protesters to show up both today and tomorrow at game. but it's going to be awfully tough to get anywhere near nrg stadium because there's a tremendous security presence out here. about 10,000 closed officers and plainclothes officers who will be here protecting everyone and also border protection were going to have three black hawk helicopters in the air insureing that air space is not violated either. keeping about a 30 mile radius around the stadium on game day. you can be sure that security will be air tight. but these protesters are hoping to make their mark. keep in mind vice president pence will be at the game and

the hospital will flip a coin along with first lady barbara bush. >> that means security will be tighter. do security officials have any idea how many protesters are expected to show up? we saw video of roughly a handful of people. any idea are expected. >> reporter: no known number. security officials especially when it comes to the super bowl and things like the inauguration. only it's inauguration gets a higher security designation than that the super bowl. the super bowl is number two. but they're very tight lipped about any, giving out numbers. we have not heard numbers of protesters and no real number of law enforcement officials but the rumor is expected to have about 10,000 law enforcement official. s we all know that lady gaga has been out spoken and vocal against

immigration executive order and some are anticipating that she could rile up the crowd. >> real quick. who you got for the game >> i'm going to with atlanta, i'm a giants fan. i live in dc. i have to go with atlanta, anything but the patriots. >> thank you. have fun >> thank you. coming up, we're going to take closer look at one of america's most iconic tour sites >> a popular retail chain is ending its relationship with the first family. 5at630 will be right back.
