here on hawk run terrace, let's show you that right now so you can see for yourself. what we understand from witnesses they heard an guilty and there was sounds of gunshots. he heard as many as seven shots, a woman i spoke with told me she heard as many as three gunshot, she was taking care of a baby. looked out a window and saw two men run, one, she said, had a handgun in his hand. we understand from police there's no confirming right now that they have two suspects out on the run. at this point, they're just confirming that they have one victim found between two parked cars it was an adult male and he had been shot to death. there's one aspect of this case we've been able to understand. that is about 45 minutes after the shooting,

walked into holy cross hospital and the emergency room personnel called police. police went to the hospital, confirmed they found a gunshot victim there, police here are telling us they're looking to see if that may be connected to what happened here on hawk run terrace. let's playing now a sound bite from montgomery county police. he talks about the people they into contact custody. we counted he as many as five perhaps six taken away from handcuffs. here's what he has to >> investigators located some potential witnesses within a home adjacent to the parking lot where the victim is located. they've been taken into investigative detention so we can interview them and determine what part any one ofth

maybe just a witness >> most people we saw in cuffs were a variety of older men, younger men, some women that we saw taken in, one man was very and clearly uncooperative and the officer was struggling with him as he was taking him to put him into a cruise. we saw as many as five, six people in handcuffs, taken in. if any of those people at this point have been placed under arrest, although captain starks told me this is a closeable case. this is the third homicide so far this year in the county. we're live in montgomery village, paul wagner, fox 5 local news. that i can at the screen, very clear picture police are searching for these two men, in connection with a deadly stabbing in prince george's county. suspects were captured in this newly released surveillance video. take a look it happened on tuesday on the 6400 block of central avenue in seat

you can see the two suspects walking by just moments before the stab to go. a 34-year-old jamal barnes. right now detectives are back out in seat pleasant canvassing the area for clues. again, here are the close-ups of the men suspected of stabbing barnes along with a snapshot of a vehicle they got away in. if you rook them, police want to hear from you. controversy tonight in northern virginia high school over several signs posted inside of the building. the signs were put up by teachers and apparently meant to promote diversity and equality. critics say they do the opposite. fox 5 anjali hemphill is in york town to explain. angelly? >> reporter: hey, lauren, well, yes, these signs are in rainbow colors, they started popping all in all over the high school about two weeks but some students say the issue is very black and white. the sign the and politics just don't belong in school. i want you to take a look at

you can see again, in rainbow colors. the sign reads patriots know facts are not political. diversity strengthen us, science is real, women rights are human rights. justice for all. kindness is everything we are yorktown. a message about diversity, seemingly harmless, they joined together to express concern, more and more keep popping up around schools and are being posted by a group of teachers. they sent fox 5 of the photos and where students can see them walking down the hallways. these concerned students and parents are saying that the signs are political bias. which they contend violate school policy, and they say show the double standards. these students believe if these were conservative beliefs on the wall, it wouldn't even be allowed in the first place. >> a lot of my classmates thought that this was showing inherent political bias

certain set of beliefs not everyone would believe in. because of this, this is kind of keeping cw. things like this oppress people and i think that's the aaronny in this, the whole point of the signs was to be inclusive, but in the end of the day, politically, it shuts down a different set of beliefs than the people who are putting them up. >> reporter: now, fox 5 did reach out to the arlington county school board several times.

hack of feeble have been arrested in london but the secret service said investigation is not over >> they're working around the clock world wide, lindsay watts sat down with one special agent on this case. joins us live with an update. lindsay? >> sarah and lauren, they didn't cyber attack happened about a week before the inauguration. and it impacted the majority of dc's crime and traffic cameras including those used to monitor activity around the

would have been watching the parade. the hackers used ransom wear, which is malicious software that requires a ransom payment. it was about money or part of a bigger security threat? that's part of the investigation underway right now. >> as inauguration preps were underway in dc, hackers were also hard at work. successfully accessing the city's system of crime and traffic cameras, dc officials say while ransom wear was used, no money was paid to the culprits >> we were able to quickly mitigate potential threats and get those cameras back up on line and operational quickly. the secret service was on the case immediately. the cameras were down two days but restored by the inauguration. nearly a month later, questions of who did this and why remain unanswered. >> i believe that

and dc did all three drop the ball and then the other question is there rider feel this? >> to your first question, in way, yes, although the dc council passed the appropriate legislation last year, this has been an issue going back to the 2009 fort totten crash that killed nine, dozens injured. in the year after that, all three jurisdictions agreed that it was time to create a new independent safety oversight group with regulatory power to make metro comply with safety rules. the current group known as the tri-state oversight committee is determined to be toothless effective, they can create a lot of paperwork about metro's shortcomings but no power to make metro comply. last year where secretary anthony fox decided it was moving too slowly. he set up a deadline yesterday february 9, 2017, virginia and

legislature still working. all three have to produce identical bills and they're expected to get it done >> is there now a new deadline we're looking at and is this sort of the kick in the pants they needed to really get on this safety program? >> yes to the kick. no new deadline, essentially they have to not only pass legislation, then establish the commission itself have the federal transit administration certify it. make sure it's operating accurately. they have to hire the right personnel for the job. eventually, the jurisdictions metro plus the region. can get this backing first they have to accomplish the job carrying on now about seven year >> the riders how will this impact people >> we can get lost in all the budget numbers and all of that. really it comes down to safety. having a body that can make metro comply with safety rules, an

affect safety sensitive profits, rail car maintenance, busses, a lot of projects metro is doing, $4 million in total could be withheld but riders want to know that if metro is not following its own standards, someone is there with the power to make them comply, whether it's shutting down an unsafe section of track, finding metro for an infraction, that's never existed in metro's 40-year history. >> we may see that. that's a possibility. we just don't know for sure going forward. we want read the statement that i know you're familiar with metro release dad. npts to this metro funding saying federal formula dollars support the capitol program, which is critical to the safety and maintenance of train and bus service. we will work closely with the funding jurisdictions to determine how best to make up the difference to avoid reducing safety or reliability projects. now, this has been a fight for a long time with all the different jurisdictions. i'm not going to give this much money because you need to show us you're doing something with it. is this now a

hawk run drive this afternoon when he heard approximately seven shots. i also spoke with a woman who said she was in her townhouse taking care of a child when she says she heard an argument. she said it was very loud. then she said she heard a number of shots. she described them as three. she looked out her window and saw two men run -- described one of them is wearing dark clothing and carrying a handgun. we asked montgomery county police whether or not they have a look-out for two suspects, county police would not confirm that at this point. that's what the woman said she saw, two men running from the scene. we also know that about 2:45 this afternoon act man walked into holy cross hospital complaining that he had been shot. montgomery county police were called to the scene and county police tonight are saying that they're checking to directly whether or not that may be connected to what is happening here on hawk run drive. what we know just after 2:00 this afternoon, that police rece
