but for experts in the psychology field. more and more young teens being sucked into the gang culture. it's crucial to point out they tend to join during foremative years. a search warrant david reveals cell phone video of rivas murder that quote depicts the interrogation and taunting of the victim by several males. the affidavit states some of the videos depict the interrogators holding a knife poking the victim with a knife and stabbing the victim with a large pointed log while she still appeared to be alive. the fairfax county police chief spoke about the crimes on fox 5 news morning >> when we dig deep, these are teenagers and young adults that have no sense of what guilt is, remorse, and savagely, they kill each other. >> psychologists speaks about how a gang fosters what appears to be a lack of emotion

leroy mccrack inis calling 911 a lot less thanks to a new program that identifies residents with overwhelming health problems who call 911 more than five times a year. mccrack en fit the deal, he had a diabetes, high blood pressure and congestive heart failure >> ten to 15 days, i was going back and forth to the hospital >> the program called mobile integrated healthcare started in november in prince george's county and staffed with firefighters and paramedics working with a team from washington hospital. mccrack en is one of 37 clients >> we started off november. and we said, go. to the. >> reporter: the goals include avoiding the hospital during the holiday season and he did for the first time in a long time with the help of prince george's county paramedics and firefighter kenneth hickey. >> when i have a

system. also farther to the west. we have another significant tornado outbreak. it's the skinny line you see. and across iowa kansas and missouri, we've had 12 reports of tornados and you can see that all those red boxes are tornado watch area, illinois once again may have to watch for severe weather. that is not in the cards for us. i wanted to show you the futurecast. maybe a spotty shower up towards reinstate 68. we'll have to probably wait closer to morning which there may be a small amount of shower activity moving across northern maryland maybe into montgomery county and crosses the beltway briefly about 7:00 in the morning. but not very much. just bad timing because a lot of people will be on the road. by noon, we're back to a mix of clouds and sun not expecting much in the way of right now activity most of the rest of tuesday. i've got to tell you we're going to be advertising another big weather headline for

skyfox was over the scene on east one creek road. an autopsy will be performed. no word on the victim's identification. still no arrests in that deadly stabbing of a security guard at potomac mills mall. larry drum gold's family spoke to fox 5 about losing the father of three. the stabbing happened saturday at a burlington coat factory. he and another guard confronted a man suspected of shoplifting. the suspect j mel king before you stabbed and killed him. they talked to lindsay watts. >> he's been the backbone. he took those traits from his dad >> would he come every day have lunch. he cared about us. it's important to be with your

parent. >> police are asking anyone who may know king berry's whereabouts to call them. it is unclear where he's from. the defense department is investigating reports that some marina shared naked photographs of female monitors veterans and other women that a private facebook group called marinas united. it was initially set up to help service members with ptsd. it has 30,000 members. it is not clear who posted the inappropriate pictures, which has since been taken down. the marinas say anyone involved in distributing nude photos could face criminal charges, they're offering assistance to anyone affected by the misconduct. back to the story getting plenty of comments on our facebook page tonight. one local school district have wednesday off because so many of teachers are calling out for international women's day. >> we're debating next in fox 5

this is fox 5 local news at 10:00. we're back now with a look at tonight's top story, president trump laid out the plans for his revised immigration ban today, the order removes iraq from the list the countries on the 90-day travel ban. it also removes language that seems to give priority to christians and no longer singles out syrian refugees. court documents are revealing new information in the gang related murder of a 15-year-old gaithersburg girl. a search warrant david reveals one of her killers are wearing a gps tracking device at the time of the murder. what appeared to be the torture and interrogation of the victim was also recorded on a cell phone camera. it reveals rivas was killed in retaliation for the gang related murder of a 21-year-old man. ten people including four adults and

charges. marina? >> reporter: alexandria public schools decided to cancel class, this coming wednesday on international women's day. the district says the decision is not political. they say they received requests from 300 staff members to take the day off wednesday and they decided they did not want to jeopardize learning and safety of students because of under staffing. the alexandria public school system decided to close wednesday and gave parents less than 48 hours notice. we're talking about this upcoming wednesday. school officials say there's no way they would have been able to handle all the students with 300 staff members planning to be off. critics called the decision avail show of support for a political agenda >> both sides are here to go unfiltered as we discuss this. we have a second gradeea

home wednesday and joining us, fairfax county elizabeth schultz, both of you guys thank you for joining us. >> pleasure to be here. >> let's start with you. you work in arlington. your school district has not decided to close but you are choosing to participate in this protest. let me ask you first of all, why. why participate in this -- this particular day? >> so, well, i'm participating on wednesday. i'll be protesting. primarily because i'm a woman. i'm here tonight because i'm a teacher and because i've heard that a lot of people are confused as to why teachers are taking off i work in a prominent female work force, i'm taking off primarily because i'm a woman. i just happen to be a teacher. >> let's go to elizabeth schultz. elizabeth, you are not happy that the school system in alexandria is closing. why not? >> i feel terrible for those

really, how you express being a teacher and being a woman and then take away educational opportunities for all the children that are not going to be able to go to school on wednesday is very sad. in fairfax county, we set up a calendar a year in advance and have tons of input from parents. because parents are collaborators, and we're really partners with parents and the education of theirhildren and to pull the rug out from underneath what are largely probably working families, where you have two working parents or if it's a single parent, the scramble that that puts them into. i don't know exactly what it is that these women are demonstrating for and how that shows children a viable means of support for anything is to not show up and do your job. >> you do not respond? they're asking, you're a teacher. you're supposed to be here te

are you protesting >> so first of all i want to address the you're a teacher you should be with students. i went to school. i chose this. i am a proud wahoo and i wanted to be a teacher since i was young. i agree teachers should be with students. however, i would be remiss if i didn't point out every lesson that i have with my students has to be modeled for them. i cannot give an assignment or activity to student and say rock out. do it. i have to model it. my place is in the classroom. however, the best way that i can show my students exactly what their rights are, exactly how to make their voices heard and how to participate in politics or in their communities is to go and do it for them. >> let me ask you this. people have to make decisions for themselves. i completely understand that. some, you know, a lot of people talking about this on social media and some

why not use the day to use the class to say we're not going to do what we normally do. here's what i want to tell you what's going on and why teachers are taken today off and that kind of thing? use it in the classroom >> i think that the greater value of the women's march and of wednesday's protest is really to agitate, inconvenience and to make it very, very clear that women are a part of our community, and that what better way than teachers? we're women and nurses. we have to make it clear, yes, what would it be if we weren't at work, if we decided not to show up? it's not going to be good. you need to listen to us listen, watch and try and find out what people's stories are and what to say. >> what's your reaction to that >> i still, i mean, there's really -- there's no there there. acting out by not going to work and not being

children that we've committed to educate. i mean, we're receiving federal dollars, state dollars that have to do with the average daily membership in the school division. not only that, we live in an area people forget has pockets of poverty. children not being able to access free and reduced meals, impacts much more than just their educational day. i don't understand how not going to work on a day where you're contracted as an employee to go to work, teachers have the summer off. teachers have weekends. there's pleasant of other times where you can demonstrate a political motivation. but for teachers to take advantage of the fact that you're in a female dominated industry as an educator and say, we're going to close down an entire school division and pull the rug out from underneath parents and that somehow

example, when you know, go to the classroom and teach girls science, teach them math, teach them ways in which they can have remarkable careers and influence others through their work. not through their not work. >> hold on a second. >> she brings up a good point, why not do this in the summertime when the kids aren't in class and also, looked up this march just to find out and there's a question. what if you can't take the day off and they say many women in our most vulnerable communities will not be able to do this due to economic security we're going to strike for them. why not wait till the summertime >> this is her opinion. and i respect that. i am doing it on wednesday because we were called to do it wednesday, going to to be protesting. because i am going to empowering girls.

. we've uncovered thousands in travel costs racked up by two fairfax county school employees and paid for by taxpayers. fox 5 started asking questions after west potomac high's principal and assistant principal was suddenly put on leave. then the principal resigned. the county is refused to say why, travel records we've obtained are possibly shedding light on the story. lindsay watts has been digging in. >> reporter: we found expensive trips on the taxpayer dime. nearly $12,000

approved travel in just the last eight months from just these two employees. i want to emphasize the travel was approved by fairfax county schools. question is how is this kind of spending acceptable? it's a school district anticipating a major budget shortfall. fairfax county asked voters for a tax hike to fund its schools. but records obtained by fox 5 paints a different picture. after potomac high principal alex case and michelle lied el were put on leave for reasons unknown, we did an open records request for more information. we found the pair had a busy travel schedule. just since july, they got approval for three out of state trips. the total cost, nearly $12,000. there was a trip to orlando for an educational convention attended by others from the district as well. then a trip to

$900 for each room at the tropicana. they were set to make a trip to arizona in february for another conference. the assistant superintendent approved more than $2500 for each to attend. that trip though was cancelled after case and lied el were put on leave. the district said all travel procedures were properly followed including preapproval in these particular instances. but no one from fairfax county schools would speak on camera about whether this kind of jet setting is typical. what we do know is if every principal and assistant principal in the school district traveled like this, the price tag for taxpayers would be more than $2 million. fairfax county school said the total budget for travel in other professional development is $1.4 million. just recently re the superintendent proposed cutting travel costs by half million r

feature a lot of clouds and showers. as a result of the clouds. we're not going to be that cold. last night we had 20's, we'll stay in the 40's tonight. not as cold for tuesday. we will have scattered light showers tuesday. more prevalent in maryland in the morning and hit or miss in the afternoon. we have a mid week warmup. temperatures will be in the 60's next three days and maybe touching 70 tomorrow. as wet get you ready for the warmup. we have to tell you that the weekend looks like it's going to get substantially colder and could we finally be seeing snow? we have ap couple of chances for snow before this week is over. we start with tomorrow. because it is going to be a milder day, high pressure off the coast is going to make it feel like spring even with a lot of clouds. temperatures soaring into the mid 60's and with a little bit of sunshine and a few sunny breaks that's all it would take to get some places near 70. with that frontal boundary, approaching in the warm front going through. there could be few showers

light t this frontal boundary though, that could bring through a line of very fast moving showers between about 2:00 and 4:00 in the morning. tonight, showers along the mason dixon line and more out to the north and west this is that squall line now produced about 12 reports of tornados and looks like this will be going on some incredible pictures coming across twitter. this is just a small sampling across iowa in missouri as well as kansas, don't be surprised to see more tornado reports. futurecast for us we're going to have a lot of clouds overnight and maybe some showers tomorrow morning for morning commuters especially across maryland maybe touching the beltway. that moves only and we just have a lot of clouds at the noon hour but we could see more showers developing maybe in time for the evening, you can see more of us won't see them than will. watch this. 11:00 tomorrow
