search for answers, but so far, fitz, we're not hearing much. >> reporter: no, jim, it's important to remember in the past montgomery country public school superintendent end has not been shy about speaking out. whether it's about policies by the trump administration, which were aimed towards transgender's students or suspectsed hate crimes within the walls of a montgomery county public school. but, on this case, the rain of a 14-year-old girl by two suspectsed individuals. one 17, one 18 and both students inside a bathroom here at rockville high school. so far, no public comment only a released press release statement from the superintendent. and all requests for interviews have been denied and in response, well, parents, are speaking out and they're speaking out loudly. you will find aerng and you will find upsetment about this and mosof

allowed to be in class with freshman girls as young as 14 years old and two, are students forced out of school at any age and three, did ncps know that one of the suspect had a deportation order against him. and four, how are unaccompanied minors who attend npcs monday towards and tracked inside the schools and five exactly what is being done to ensure the safety of students here in the future. now, these question tonight, well, these are all in the happened of the ncps itself. we sent these along with a request for an interview again today and with dr. jack smith as we told that interview was denied and we asked for a written response to these questions before that interview is granted. and we are waiting for that and we should tell you this is only part of what happened here in montgomery today. earlier in the afternoon in another part of county, council president of montgomery count

roger berliner sat down for weekly press conference. it was supposed to be about the county budget and about transportation. what it turned into was very pointed questions about this incident here at rockville high school. among those, what did the council president think about how this has been handled by montgomery county public schools. and did the country council leave the impression they were somehow cadling illegal immigration in this county by being supportive of people who were speaking out against trump administration policies to enact immigration enforcement. well, the country president shot back strong against that saying that montgomery county is not a sanctuary country and went ton say that the school officials he says are doing a good job and he expect to handle them this well and we wanted to know, whether he thought it was school officials or school policies that he has questions about tonight

>> what responsibility do school officials bear for what may or may not have happened in that bathroom on friday and do 18-year-old men belong to classrooms with freshman girls? >> i believe that that is a question to be posed to our school system, okay? as you know, it is a state-run separate system. i understand the concerns of parents. i do believe it is a fundamental responsibility of the school system obviously to have a safe environmenten and nobody should ever be fearful that something ugly like this is going to take place. >> and now the iron any in all this, while that very news conference was taking place today ice immigration and custom enforcement september an

within the united states that ice identified as places that chose not to oop rate with ice detainers or customs enforcement and in their words pojly endangering americans. on that list montgomery county maryland and prince george county, maryland. we're told of that announcement today and reiterated he does not believe montgomery county is in any way a sanctuary county and he stressed ning country officials cooperate with ice when a criminal investigation is underway. and we reference that statements earlier from the superintendent jack summit. we should tell you it reads in part that the school officials at montgomery country are working with school officials and community to address the concerns and provide support and review security mish you're westbound the schooling. ice tonight as we have stated, does have a detainer on one of the suspects, 18-year-old henry sanchez.

high school, tom fitzgerald, "fox5 local news". >> and nine people facing racketeering charges after being charged with runing a heroin trafficking ring based in alexandria. >> police and prosecutors say 11 people are tied to the ring and facing charges of distributing heroin with a street value of up to $1 million. paul wagner joins us live from alexandria with more on this big arrest, hey, paul. >> reporter: hey jim, sarah t. was a week ago saturday that virginia state police, prince george county police and alexandria police executed eight search warrants in the washington area. taking into custody 11 people. five of them are residents here in alexandria. now, commonwealth attorney brian porter declined to go into specifics on how this ring was taken apart. but he did explain why it needed to be done. here's what he had to say. >> heroin trade is particularly a lucrative

of heroin can be divided to 10 individual doses and every 100 grams of heroin potentially contains 1,000 individual doses and profits to be made, for instance, kilogram ever heroin as approximate wholesale value of 100,000 and resulting in heroin dealers possessioning large amounts of cash which in turn requires them to possess and use firearms and that fact is evidenced by the number of firearms uncovered by this investigation and where guns and i will legal money and violence is not far behind. >> commonwealth attorney brian porter would not say how operation purple rain came together or go into any specifics on how the drug ring operated. he did reveal that ten firearms, several vehicles, more than 400 grams of heroin and 330 grams of cocaine and 18,000 in cash were seized when police executed those search warrants last saturday. and five of them, are alexandria residents. and ten

gone before a judge. and porter pointed out that there have been 26 overdoses in alexandria in 2016 and in northern virginia 15 fatalities and attorney general mark herring was here for the announcement and he talked about epidemic in the state. >> this say problem that communities all across the commonwealth and the country are facing. and northern virginia is not immune from it. and we've seep a spike in fatalities from heroin. precipitation opiates and fet nal in the commonwealth and northern virginia has been hit as hard as anywhere. and through the first nine months of 2016 virginia exceeded the overdose deaths for all of 2015 and more than 1,000 virginiaians lost their lives to an overdose between january and september of last year. >> now these 11 were indicted some of them on ricoh charges

years if prison if convicted and also return person facing indietment that carries possible sentence of a life imprisonment. at this point we understand ten of the 11 have gone before a judge and it's unclear at this point if they all remain locked up. live outside of the alexandria city police headquarters, paul wagner, "fox5 local news". new tonight a group of men under arrest in connection with three gun shop burglaries last week. preston holmes, matthew jones and dan yl quarrelelves the three were charged with robbing asg tactical and another in fredericksburg and charged with stealing 35 guns from 55 west armory in chantilly metro tech drive. it only took 48 seconds for those suspects to break into the front door and take off with handguns and store manager said one man acted as a lookout and the other two took the guns total value 20,000 if convicted

prison. >> an a man suspected of intentionally setting a deadly fire inside a baltimore home has turned himself in. and police say 26-year-old antonio wright fire bombed a home in east baltimore on saturday and you can see the home was engulfed in flames at an earlier time. and police say eight people were inside at the time. who of them were killed and six others were taken to the hospital and investigators believed the incident was retaliation for a recent shoot in the area. >> meantime there's a new twist tonight in the deadly house explosion in rockville. police identifying the victim now as homeowner steven martin beck and body of 61-year-old was recovered in the rubble after his home exploded on friday. and an autopsy revealed beck committed suicide by shooting himself. his dog was also shot and killed. and the crew spent the weekend cleaning up what is left of the home and days later investigators still working to figure out what caused that huge blast. >> coming up at 5:00 a healthy k. or controversial one.

i want to she you and the clouds came off and that took away sunshine. we're gol to the satellite and radar too. back off to the wet and northwest there's a little bit of rain kind of coming our way and basically once we get int the overnight there's a chance of a few showers. i don't believe it's a big deal. and i don't think we're talking about a lot of rain but there could be a sprinkle or two or showers that may even linger into tomorrow morning with the morning commute. but, with the clouds tonight we'll show you overnight lows. because with the clouds it will keep the temperatures up just a little bit there as you see. 46 in town. 40 annapolis. cool there and then north and western suburbs will be in the lower 40s as well. again few showers and back into sunshine tomorrow afternoon and we'll go tomorrow for temperatures in the low 60s and full forecast coming up and i'll tell you what, there's some 70 degree readingsen the 7 day forecast. i'll have that whole complete forecast coming up in a few minutes.
