victim's daughter. she was surrounded by skentded family. they told thus morning started like any other morning. maria sencio was walking in the neighborhood like she normally does. moments later she was struck and killed by a hit republican and driver that police arrested shortly there after. >> by all accounts maria put others before herself including fly children. five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. she moved to the united states from el salvador 20 years going to give them a better life. >> she was always like asking what do you need? what can i do for you? >> the 75-year-old mate rearch loved her family and loved her morning walks in this fair oaks neighborhood. this morning was no exception. >> app hour later she didn't come back home and that's why i was calling to

salvation so i know these in better place now. >> reporter: he has been ar arrested and charged with felony hit and run and also robbery. tonight, police say it does not appear that the victim or defendant knew each other. tisha lewis, fox 5 local news. >> developing now in the district. two men were shot tonight in southeast. this happened around 8:30 stanton road and police are looking for the person responsible. it's unclear what led to the shooting and the investigation is ongoing. >> a desperate search is underway to find two young boys that may have been abducted by their mother. boys ages five and one were seen in the portsmouth virginia area. the mother made threats against her kids. they're believed to be in extreme danger and there's an amber alert issued many of you posted that wanting to know the details and here they are. in a case

called her. she says that she was overcome with emotion. she is a loyal fox5 viewer so nupd right away and shocked to see we were talking about her dad. she recently lost her job then her home and her storage ended up being repossessed. she showed us a cross she wears every day that contains little bit of her dad's ashes. and the rest were in the box that was lost with the rest of her belongings. and martha ryangrubeer recently lost her husband of 20 years and says, she feels it was meant to be that she was the one who found that box. >> he just pass away in february. so i think he had a happened in it. and i've been talking to him saying i know you guys are together. and you're going to have a hand in it and find the family. >> thank you. >> so i'm so glad. >> michael boone's daughter tempromandibular joint syndrome us her dad passed away unexpectedly 3 years ago she ways chef, mechanic, redskins fan and funny guy who was always joking and she shiz they would

a couple weeks. an update on a story that captivated our attention yesterday. the roller coaster ride that got stuck for hours at six flags america. firefighters had to rescue two dozen riders. >> today the park was back on and joker's jinx is grounded for now until they complete the investigation. tonight we get a unique look how they carry out the rescue. "fox5" alexandra limon. >> that. >> reporter: that brand new look is go pro video. some of the members of the prince george country fire tactical team that conducted this rescue were wearing cameras as they got people off of the roller coaster. now, if you're afraid of heights this video may make you craneth. take a look to see what i'm talking about. at one point you can see one young man is taken off of the roller coaster and gets up and throws his arms up in the air and in celebration. keep if mind these people were nearly 100 feet up in the air and we know this is not the first time

stuck stranded on the joker's jinx roller coaster at six flags america. in 2014 it got stuck nearly in same spotless for hours and the coaster was full of people. now the "washington post" reports that as a result, six flags america had to payout tens of thousands in setment money to people stuck. yesterday's rescue by the prince george county fire department tactical team was pulled off without a hitch and this is a challenging job because keep in mind, in addition to the hight, these people were stuck at an angle and the spokesperson said essentially these are pipes that are greased up which is why the tactical team trains on these exact rides a couple times of year. >> it must have lost momentum because it started going womp, womp when it stopped it was like maybe it's added p

it's joker's jinx maybe it's pulling off a joke and will like start speeding us off again. and after like about 30 seconds i think we all started realizing that oh, this is no joke. this is getting serious. >> they were communicating with us. they were sort of telling us what was going to happen. and at one point a firefighter came up and told us what we were going to do. so we followed those procedures to get down from the ride. >> it was not until the firemen came did we have clear instructions or clear knowledge of what was going on because only once or twice did they ever use a mega phone to try to talk to us. >> when firefighters first got up there there was young children that were pretty much hysterical. we were able to calm them down and move forward with the rescue operation. which took us about 3 1/2 total hours. >> today, six flags america the theme park is on and operating, however the joker

not on. as you can see from this chopper video from earlier today the cart was still up on the tracks as the investigation continues and six flags america tries to figure out why this coaster is getting stuck in the same spot. because again, both of these incidents happened pretty much on the same section of roller coaster. now, yesterday theme park spokesperson stled was an inception that happened recently in march and found no violations. so for now the investigation continues. reporting in upper marboro, alexandra limon, "fox5 local news". >> and now to a fox5 exclusive. police say a man swinging a large chain went on a rampage in fairfax county today. this happened around 12:30 this afternoon at restaurant her done and the suspect threat end employees on the patio with the chain and ranked in broke the glass doors and hit employee with a chain injuring the man's hand. from there ran to a nearby

story. >> fair oaks vir vr a man is charged with hit and run death of 75-year-old woman. tisha lewis sis live with the latest. >> that's right, sarah, 75-year-old maria was walking in this fair oaks neighborhood like she did each and every morning 10:00 a.m. when her family didn't hear from her half an hour they became concerned and started calling phone several times. that's when police answered and said there had been a tragic accident. ultimately she was struck and killed by a hit and run driver that was arrested shortly there after at nearby shopping applause a we'll have more on the story at 11. >> and the joker jinx ride at six flags remains closed for now. the roller coaster won't reopen until workers figured out why it got stuck yesterday. two sdozensen riders were stranded until firefighters were able to rescue them. a similar incident happened there in 2014. and major change on the way toe national mall new

hour we are still fairly comfortable, 62 d.c., 58 baltimore and annapolis at 59 and 60 dulles and same with martinsburg and 55 call pepper at 60. winds are light and clouds continuing to move in and we'll see mostly cloudy skies in the overnight hours and we have a warm front we're keeping an eye on. that could possibly spark a little bit of light shower by the time we get to later tomorrow afternoon. in the meantime, for tonight, overnight lows into the 50s under mostly cloudy skies but pretty comfortable out there. we're going to see the temperatures tomorrow into the 70s. this warm front will move its way north ridge of high pressure heading out and as i said, it will also be the trigger to a chance of shower by the late afternoon. so, we're going to watch that closely. we've also got warmer air moving in and that means by sunday we'll be into

and it's really going to feel like it is summer for sure. and there say slight chance later on sunday we could each see a popup shower or rumble later on. we'll watch that for you. for the most part for the day we're talking a pleasant gay and one you can enjoy. here's a look at future cast. well, the timing of this particular model in terms of any of the wet weather we might get by 3:00 in the afternoon we see south of the i 81 corridor and a few showers start to fill in then and by the 5:00 hour we have clouds and d.c. and if you take a look along i 70 we start to see action near hager town north as well. and it's out of here. not a lot happening. sunday, 4:00 in the afternoon to the west we start to see precipitation starting to move n so, it all just bears watching for the later part of the day. on both days. other than that things are not looking badly. here's a look at planner tomorrow. starting off at 8:00
