passes. the investigation will resume at day break. now, the army chopper with three crew members aboard was partaking in a routine training flight when the helicopter came down here at the brenton golf course. one died and two others air lifted and one remains in critical condition. other in serious and today we spoke to folks out here who heard the commotion here is how they described the immediate aftermath. >> i looked out my window and it was actually low enough where i saw it go over there. you can hear things rattle too >> we were here sitting in the house and heard a bunch of fire trucks and an ambulance or two, and a bunch of cop cars and just like now, we heard a helicopter after that and we saw the helicopter land right behind the tree line right here at the end of the golf course >> we could see the wreckage about 500 yards away fro

when we arrived. at that point in time, seemed they had extracted all of the crew members from the aircraft. >> reporter: the us army military district of washington is leading the investigation and tonight in a statement they said, quote, we're deeply saddened by this loss within our community. condolences go out to the families and friends affected by the tragedy and our team is focused on supporting them during this difficult time. and tomorrow a team from alabama will deploy to the scene. they will be conducting the investigation. live tonight in st. mary, marina marraco fox 5 local news. an argument between a passenger and a bus operator caught on camera. this happened on a ride on bus in montgomery county. the operator kicks the passenger as the man starts to walk away.

starting a brawl on the moving bus. >> we're learning more about what may have led to the confrontation >> lindsey watts is live with the story you'll only see on fox 5. lindsey, you talked about the man on crutches and to county officials. >> reporter: that's right, shawn and tony. montgomery county says that the fight was disturbing but says that the bus driver involved is still employed. >> it started as a nasty confrontation between a bus driver an passenger on a crutch. the passenger curses at the driver. turns around to a kick in the back. he throws his crutch and the fight escalates. the man filming didn't want to talk on camera. he said he finally stopped recording to help break up the fight is

>> shouldn't be employee people like that >> we tracked down the passenger. he was angry getting on the bus the driver passed his stop forcing him to hustle to across the street with an injured knee. he went back and forth with the bus driver who was there training the person driving the bus. then after he sat down >> he starts talking about my mom. >> reporter: he says he now regrets getting out of his seat >> i would definitely think about ignoring people like that because time like that isn't worth everything going now. >> reporter: his already injured knee is a lot worse. >> it literally feels like part of this is just like crooked. >> reporter: he tells us he has other injuries from the fight and he got banned from the bus for 90 days. the bus driver is still employed according to a spokes woman for the montgomery county department of transportation tshe said she's driving for now and to appropriate disciplinary action will follow an investigation

he said even after the ban, he won't be back on the bus. >> i don't even feel safe there no more. the thought of being on public transportation. >> reporter: i talked to a man on the bus and watched it play out in person. he says he felt overreactive and was disrespectful of the driver but the driver was out of line kicking him like he did. and certainly not any kind of good example to the driver he was supposed to be training, montgomery county has identified the driver involved as lesley st. louis. we tried to reach out to him but we were not able to get a comment. lindsey watts fox 5 local news. a challenge area police departments face daily, how to prevent people from illegally driving all terrain vehicles on city streets sidewalks. it's especially difficult in some areas. fox 5's

northwest dc where riders were spot bradford they crossed the bridge into arlington. >> reporter: that's right that happened this back door. you know those pursuit policies that you were talking about are often put in place to keep everyone safe, including commuters, but commuters and police are a little bit frustrated because those policies sometimes fuel frustrations because police are not able to pursue riders unless they're doing something extremely dangerous or unless they're wanted. now, arlington police say here behind me you're taking a look at the key bridge often illegal riders start their journey in the district and work their way down breaking all types of traffic laws and putting so many people in danger. >> the riders are not paying any attention to jurisdictional boundaries. they're just goly >> a lot of jurisdictions have no chase

what is arlington's >> our real problem is how do you we not make things even unsafe and if we get involved in a pursuit, that will cause more danger to the community. >> reporter: daniel murray said as the weather gets warmer expect more what many witnesses in this. atv and dirt bike riders heating up the community, placing drivers, passengers and pedestrians in danger, and daring police to pursue them. the pursuit policies vary by department. arlington police department said they're policy is in most case as judgment call. >> sounds like what you're saying it's a case-by-case basis. >> that's true. but we're going to very strictly evaluate and to see what particular danger is being caused and to make sure under no circumstances do we enhance that danger >> i don't think they she don't pursue them but they should take pictures of something a

them later. they're going to endanger everybody in that area. >> reporter: crystal yates said it was friday she was driving near silver row and pennsylvania avenue when surrounded by more than a dozen dirt bike riders. countless show us what many of us have witnessed. packs of riders weaving through traffic. >> they need to do something about it. somebody needs to do something about it. i was careful not to hit them because there was a lot of them. i was very careful. >> there needs to be some sort of action taken. other than, you know, letting them freely kind of disobey traffic laws. >> reporter: but they seem to have no regard. deputy chief murray said there's a way drivers can fight back >> if you have hands, friday operations to call 911. because we want to know about i it. >> reporter: police

picture or record video and send it to them. helps them prosecute these cases. concerning the policies in montgomery county, they say that they will only pursue if the rider appears intoxicated or have committed a very serious crime. and prince george's county they say that they will only pursue if the rider is wanted for homicide or a car jacking. tisha lewis, fox 5 local news. nationwide manhunt is underway for a man accused of killing an elderly man then posting it on facebook. the suspect is 37-year-old steve stevens, he's been on the run since the killing in cleveland yesterday afternoon. police say he shot and killed 74-year-old robert god lynn in what appeared to be a random act. stevens then uploaded the video to facebook. the victim's family is speaking out. >> steve --

we'll take a look at the weather headlines in the seven-day forecast coming up a little bit later. back over to tony and shawn >> thank you, sue. it has been nearly seven years since a mother of two was found stabbed to death in southern maryland parking lot. sandra lawn was discovered in her car. detectives believe someone she knew killed her. despite years of investigating, they haven't arrested anyone. fox 5 paul wagner has tonight's rewind to the crime. >> reporter: in the fall of 2010 in the southern maryland town. sandy long lived in this house with her husband and two daughters. she had a job. >> she worked with learning disabled people. >> reporter: she loved to cook >> my gosh. everything. >> what was it that sandy didn't cook. >> reporter: she loved chuck brown. and she l

>> sandy was the life of the party. she was a good hearted, genuine, caring, consider it person, anyone around her loved being in her presence. >> reporter: sandy had a love for the water and with solomon's island a few miles away, she was often there. >> during the summertime this would be her time of year right here. >> reporter: in november of 2010, someone headed out for sandy long and her life was cut short at 43. >> we know that it was a crime of passion, not sure why this happened. >> reporter: sergeant david six ton with the maryland state police has been on the case since sandy's body was discovered by hunters in a dirt parking lot. >> she was stabbed several times. stabbed on the neck. in the chest. had lacerations to the legs. >> reporter:

>> there were very minute defense injuries to her hands. >> reporter: the last time anyone had heard from her was on the more than of november 30th, 2010 after 8:00 and she used her cell phone to clock in to work. it would be the last time she used her cell phone that day. six hours and 43 minutes later, her body was found inside her car right here in the hunter's parking lot. it's less than two miles from her home. sergeant sexton said whoever killed her may have been in the car with her and the attack came as a surprise. >> you believe she was killed elsewhere and driven here? yes. >> reporter: and can you say why you believe that? >> just because the way her body was positioned, and we know that the suspect cut the seatbelt. >> reporter: dna

as family member who sergeant sexton says has not been as cooperative as he would like >> we're still trying to figure out why she was killed. >> reporter: sandy's husband lewis long has been cooperating with the investigation and has given up his fingerprints, dna and even a polygraph test. he was already at work, he says, when sandy left the house. >> you don't have anything to do with your wife's death >> none whatsoever. don't have a clue what's going on here. >> reporter: you're not responsible >> no, sir, not at all. i pray that it gets solve. closure for me and kids and family before we can move on with our lives. i mean, it's an erie feeling when this is not solved and people looking at you. >> reporter: family members say in the month before her death, sandy had become uncommonly withdrawn. >> did you ask her if anything was bothering

. an elementary school in san bernardino, north park elementary school reopened today for the first time since the deadly attack. crisis counselors are available for students and teachers, the school has been closed since last monday when man shot and killed his estranged wife and an 8-year-old student. then shot himself. a 9-year-old student who was wounded in the attack went home from the hospital yesterday. there was relief on the way for commuters in atlanta. after a stretch of several lanes on interstate 20 buckled this afternoon, motorcycles had to be taken to the hospital in critical condition after striking that broken pavement in the car pool lane. crews are working to make repairs and make sure it's safe. georgia department of transportation blames it on a gas leak. they say it should be fixed by tomorrow. investigator says the gas leak the source of the problem there >> can't catch break there. in the wake of its highly publicized pr nightmare. united airlines is
