i told you not to do that. youtube is filled with home videos showing people high on xanax and make no mistake, young people are likely watching. there are sites devoted how to get high. kids see that. be aware don't think they're too nose ingredient. it's no telling what encouraged the children in sterling, apparently on friday seven eighth graders spent the morning sharing a drink reportedly containing xanax. after ingesting the cocktail, the students panicked, went to the school nurse and ultimately each was sent home with a parent. we're told parents were told about the incident via row beau call this past saturday. saying the school is aware of the incident that happened in the school and law enforcement is involved in investigating they can't really give us any details about. georgia mat

in seventh grade here at river bend. we are worried. we didn't expect the kind of incident that we heard. >> what about telling them the dangers of prescription drugs or drugs in general in do you have that conversation in. >> not really. >> will you have that conversation now? >> yes. >> as far as discipline goes, you have a school resource officer. here the administration is working through what happened, what punishment might be appropriate for the parents, monitor your medicine cabinets, make sure that all your prescription drugs are accounted for. if you have an excess of prescription drugs that are no valid, take them to the sheriff's office and dispose of them. also happening at the loudon county sheriff's department and they have information on this their facebook page. it's a prescription drug take back

to summertime 80s and maybe a # 0-degree reading toward the end of the week. the process is slow, though, the showers are slowly tapering off but we still have a few around and that's because our area of low pressure is still in the pros of working its way up the coast and tomorrow morning it will still be off the coast of ocean city, maryland. as a result we're close enough of the weakening storm system that we can get a band of steady showers. these have been rather persistent along the west side of the bay. they may get in just a little bit closer into prince george's county, but you can see this is fairly light rain across annapolis about to move in on buy i, moving from east to west into our eastern suburbs and a little bit down to the south. we find a little bit more around men tros and towards the tap hand okay area. it will keep us cloudy, drizzly and maybe even just a little bit foggy in spots. there is

working its way up the delmarva tomorrow by ocean sit tism what does that mean for your wednesday. tomorrow morning we'll be met with more clouds, maybe some spotty drizzle, a little bit of fog. temperatures similar to these. we're 59-degrees. our high was 61. in thisry gem temperatures don't budge very much. what you'll notice it's going to change for these winds to change direction they're out of the northeast loading us up on the moisture. not until it's a northwest wind will we start getting enough drying into the clouds. that may take until tomorrow afternoon. a lot of clouds as our low continues to depart afternoon skies slow to clear but they will clear and that should help to get us up into the low 70s. don't be surprised if it takes until two, 3:00 in the morning before we start seeing some sun. we could use the rain but we are about to see that big time warmup that shawn and tony talked

details on that a coming up later. >> we are looking forward to. >> heads up, hundreds of volunteer actors along with first responders akro the region will take part in a massive drill tomorrow to help them prepare for a terror attack. medical personnel, fire along with the act ors will all participate in shock scenarios in six undisclosed locations in d.c., virginia and maryland. we will have live coverage tomorrow on fox5 morning news. >> we are learning much more about a crash involving a transport bus that slammed into a group home in kensington. this happened this afternoon on lawrence avenue. we're toaltd driver was dropping off a patient when he took his foot off the brake and hit the gas instead. two passengers on the bus and one resident in the home were hurt. their injuries are not serious. the bus, though, did damage home. six residents will be moved to a different location while repairs are made police charged the bus driver with negligent driving.

>> developing tonight, believe it or not, this is a growing trend in cities across the country, backyard chicken coops and fresh eggs for the family. d.c.'s mayor, though, wants to ban the backyard birds but residents are fighting to keep their chickens. lindsay watts is live in northwest tonight. i'm just curious, how common are chickens in d.c. >>reporter: it is more common you might think, shawn. this is one example of a chicken coop that you could pass on the treat here at january i elementary school, but the families who are raising chickens in the district are doing it much more privately. we don't have an exact number but this has

now being considered by city council. the department of health tells us keeping a foul of all sorts, including chickens have been prohibited for over 30 years in the district and that the mayor just wants to clarify the rules. but last year a couple successfully sued the city to keep their chickens so there seems to be a loophole that the mayor wants to close. we are not happy to see this being part of bunkette bill. the budget bill has a lot of really important issues that the council needs to spend time on and we think this doesn't belong in there. they're not the only once. petition has been making the rounds and chicken owners are prepared to show up a public budget hearing next week. >> here we go. the world's best eggs. the backyard to the frying pan mentality has become inningly popular. people swear

know if you've ever had fresh eggs before they are delicious. i was wondering what the reason is behind this. i'm not an expert at all, but from what i've read relatively recently, if the chickens are not properly cared for and they take, you got to care for them. you have to give them the medicines that they need and all that kind of thing that it can be problematic and they can spread illness. right, exactly. and salmonella is definitely an issue. i was talking to the chicken owners today about what to do to prevent something like that, really just washing your hands after handling the animals will keep you save. it does make a point that school children are able to handle l chickens and do that in a safeway, so i think there are definitely both sides to this argument. we'll see what happens before city council. >> see what happens. those people love their chickens. >> yes, they do. >> from chicken now to seafood, new

fought and wrestled his glasses and scratched him may have saved another life. tordil will be sentenced in july. prosecutors will ask the judge to sentence him to life in prison. we're learning new details tonight about the man accused of killing a d.c. woman back in 2009. today a judge found their was probably cause to go forward with first degree murder case against jose rod yigs cruz. crews and pamela butler ended their relationship in 2009, the same year she went missing. the court release new photos that show cruz coming and going from butler's house two to three cleaning supplies. they also found a piece of black trash bag on the ledge of a window. rodriguez will remain locked up until trial. >> there i

harbor to london. >> it's very murky. yes, very, very -- there it is. >> wow. it was even worse a little bit ago. this is the improving part of the forecast, guys. we're in the process of trying to see this area of low pressure move up the coast. we do have a few more hours to go. it will probably be sometime tomorrow afternoon before we actually get some sun back here short term we are dealing with a foggy night, a little bit of drizzle and in a few spots some showers coming through the area including right here in d.c. we've been watching that band that's been moving from the ocean and moved across the bay. these have been moving from east to west. outer bands of our area of low pressure that will be working its way right around ocean city and it's down the norfolk area tonight. we track a few showers across anne arrundel into the upper marlboro area and over here into southwest d.c. a few sprinkles up toward montgomery county as well and farther down to

south toward virginia beach they're still getting some hef bands of rain already. north carolina and south carolina picked up anywhere from about six to 8 inches of rain just since sunday from this big whirlly storm that has been slow to move out of the area as mentioned before because nothing is really steering it so it's drifting up the coast and it will continue to do that torp. so for tonight 57-degrees. winds eventually should start coming in out of the north and then the northwest and that will be a dryer direction. but that means for the short term we've got the chris l. we have a few showers and we'll keep on with the areas of fog and that's likely still going to be the scenario tomorrow morning. by afternoon we should be able to start breaking up the clouds between about two and 4:00 and the drizzle should be out of of here and then with enough sunshine we may be able to pop 73 greece. feeling a lot more comfortable tomorrow as the kies begin to clear on out. the next two days we jump from 73 tomorrow to thursday's temperature
