>> it's only tuesday, but washington is always busy. in fact, the white house went off on democrats over the spending bill and the president tweeted a government shutdown could be good. >> you see on the run down on the side of your screen it's what we're talking about tonight at 6:30. president trump of course has been criticized for doing some flip flopping since taking office, but a new huff post shows his supporters are firmly behind h him. the poll showed that 63 percent of his poly ses are what he promised on the campaign trail. 30 percent said his views are somewhat different than they were before taking office. when a broader section of voters were polled only 9 percent bleeft the president has lived up to his promises. president trump started this day with a tweet about senate voting rules and a government shutdown writing take a look. the reason for the plan negotiated between the republicans and democrats is that we need 60 votes in the senate which are not here.

moving on. i'll tell you he wanted to elect more republicans senators in 2018 or change the rules to 51 percent. our country needs a good shutdown in september to fix mess and democratses quickly responded. >> the president tweeted this morning that he's calling for a shutdown in september, a shutdown in government unless the senate changes its rules on how it conducts business. i guess maybe some of the victories we had in this cr, in this objection to the form busies maybe getting under the president's skin a little bit. there you heard from the democrats. this was all a little back and forth we've been seeing going on for a little while. democratses were claiming vic. when we check in with ronica you'll see why the white house is claiming vic tray. in washington there's no clob organize it's i win, i win, you

effort by this white house to reach out to democrats who were in the my snort. >> yes, honestly we have a budget right now because the republicans had to reach out to the democrats to make it work. if we were really trying to make a shutdown happen we had to shutdown negotiations from the start. the government would be shutdown right now. to have this sort of idea to know that democrats are being obstructionist is ludicrous. what is ludicrous is that republicanses have house, the senate and the white house and still can't get anything constructively passed. they had to sort of work with us on the budget because they couldn't get the votes within their own party which they should be able to to make that happen. >> before we head out, it came out today that fred upton, a republican from michigan said he's not going to support the revised portion of the healthcare bill because he wants to see preexisting conditions addressed here. has there been enough time that negotiate these changes that

not this idea of an alternative option since they couldn't get the wall funded like the headlines said when the deal was first anowbsed. but this is clearly the beginning of a debate that i am sure is going to grow. is this funding that director mulvaney spoke about in today's briefing, is it fulfilling president trump's campaign promise to build that wall along our southern border or is this something else. >> the debate it is already raging over the fact that when push for today's briefing that they would be using the funds for a replacement wall and to build levies. details of where and the length of these new structures could not be provided in the briefing. but here is what director mulvaney did tell us. >> there are several hundreds of millions of dollars for us to replace cyclone fencing with 20-foot high steel wall. the several hundreds of millions of dollars for us to build levy walls along the southern

some of the most vulnerable walls are where we have levies. we are building this now. there is money in this deal to build several hundreds of millions of dollars to replace this. that's what we got in this deal and these what the democrats don't want you to know. we took to twitter like we love to do at 5@6:30 to get your take that many are asking after today's briefing. does funding of a wall replacement and levies count as the start of building the wall or would you say that this doesn't count? 53 percent of you said yes, this is the start of building the wall. 47 percent of you said no that this doesn't count. obviously this is knots scientific. we're just getting your take. some have already tweeted in reply to the poll that this does in fact count. others said that calling this funding of the wall, they said this is quote, gop propaganda. so we love to hear from you o
