county. police came here to the field to arrest him and take a look at his mug shot. you can see the shirt he is wearing, it has the name of the organization that he is apparently the owner of and coaches for, it is the academy of football salvador. apparently child protect tiff services was notified in late march by this girl who is now nine years old that two years ago in the summer of 2015, flores was inappropriately touching her fondling her underneath her clothing while on the soccer field. she was one of his players and she said that when according to the charging documents, when no one was looking he would touch her sexually and then tell her to keep it a secret and in a way, sort of threaten her if she were to tell anybody, tell her not to say anything to anybody and that if she -- if she did, something would happen. she took that to mean that something may happen to her mother. so, it's taken two years for this youngir

broken into. that building has white hard hats that was described by the witness, also clothing in lockers were there so we believe that he actual had taken some clothing from there as well as that hard hat and also used that area as well as a resting place. from conversations last night during the interview, he said he had been eating out of trash cans and also drinking water from puddles. >> watson is being held at the detention center in howard county. arrangements being made to transfer him back to a prison in delaware where he's serving a sentence of more than 100 years. patients who need prosthetics not only need help getting devices but they need to learn how to use them o ability prosthetics opened a facility in rockville and a montgomery county woman told fox5's alexandria limon about her journey

>> reporter: sharon cauldron went from taking care of other her whole life as day care worker and school volunteer. >> i couldn't what about my face with a washcloth, i can't do my hair. i literally could do very, very little with thissism to not being able to take care of herself. >> and it was blood poisoning. it was septic shock syndrome which is a form of blood poisoning. so, what happens all the blood leaves your extremities and rushes to your internal organs. >> reporter: the infection nearly killed her h the lack of circulation meant both of her legs hands and part of her face and tongue had to be amputated. she feared she would have to live in a nursing home for the rest of her days. >> and i said do i want to be like this the rest of my life? do i want to be in a nursing home for the next 20,

ryan had to hold after the first attempt at repealing and replacing obamacare didn't pass, today's energy was very different. there was an impromptu event in the rose garden with dozens of gop lawmakers. it was head lined if you will by the president and vice president really celebrating today's passage in the house of this healthcare bill. take a listen to some of the highlights. >> make no mistake this is a repeal and a replace of obamacare. make no mistake about it. mak no mistake. [applause] and i think most importantly, yes, premiums will be coming do you think, yes deductibles will be coming down but very importantly, it's a great plan and ultimately that's what it's all about. >> like i said we've got a lot of work to do but one thing is now clear, republicans are committed to keeping our promise to lift the burden of obamacare from the american people

better more patient centered system. >> reporter: well, to tell you a little bit about the vote it passed with -- with 217 to 213 that's just one vote over the 216 needed, 20 republicans went against party lines. they voted against the bill. now, one republican who previously voted no but today -- or would have voted no but today voted yes was virginia congressman dave brat. i asked him about the concerns people have about the new bill's effect on those with preexisting conditions. he defended the bill and he said that they will be covered. >> that's total politics, right. anyone that digs into this thing for five seconds the opposition won't be able to respond for rational arguments. number one preexisting conditions is a lot of land under obamacare. that one no one ever proposed that even. so, that's a mystery to me how the press is covering that as

[engine starting] [loud slurping continues] >> breaking news out of prince william county. a fire crew on the scene of a gas leak on aldie grocery store. got the call around 3:30 today. when they got there there were high levels of carbon monoxide in the store. there were people there who felt sick. right now we know that one person was taken to the hospital. however, no word on a source of that gas leak but we'll keep an eye on this for you. skyfox on the way to the scene so at any tuned. this is the aldie in woodbridge, virginia. >> ♪ >> murder investigation is under

county tonight after police found a body in a wooded area in berwyn heights. >> the discovery was made near a walking trail and fox5's matt ackland is live there right now. hey, matt. >> reporter: jim, sarah, this all happened right around 9 o'clock last night. we're told someone was in that wooded area about 200 yards off a walking path when they discovered this body. well, authorities immediately responded. they then took that body to the baltimore medical examiner's office and then today after an autopsy was conducted, they determined that this was in fact a homicide. let's take you to some video, show you that area. officials are not releasing the name of the victim until next of kin can be notified. that could happen sometime tomorrow, maybe tonight t also, police aren't saying if they believe the man was killed in the wooded area or possibly brought there after he was killed. no suspect information tonight but police tell us they are following up on several leads. >> we

berwyn heights police department and maryland national capitol park police department. we quickly launched an investigation. an autopsy was conducted today and the matter of death was ruled a homicide by blunt force trauma. >> scary. i mean, it's scary. >> reporter: as you can imagine a lot of questions from the people who live in that berwyn heights neighborhood. people wondering what happened. authorities are conducting a complete investigation. they are also asking the public if they may have been in that area last night if they saw something, if they know something about this investigation they would like to hear from them. we asked, so how long do you think the body may have been there? and authorities really didn't elaborate on that. they may have some more information in the near future. for now live in prince george's county matt ackland fox5 local news. >> ♪ >> yes, it's the day we love every year, the fox5 weather day where the entire fox5 weathe

effort to make sure school kids are introduced to baseball. they are given very discounted tickets invited out. we at fox5 give them a presentation of weather in the morning and you're seeing a little bit of that earlier today where the students came out in the morning and we talked to them for about an hour. we do a meet and greet afterward, answer their questions. we're so delighted we had a sold out presentation this year of about 1300 kids and then they stay and enjoy the game and it was a lot of fun and it's really a lot of fun for us to get to meet everybody that watches us. so, it's a win-win for everybody involved. you can see mike thomas earlier and tucker is always mobbed, caitlin was here. we had a great crew and we are also very grateful to everyone who came out today. and we had some decent weather. we were a little worried maybe we would see rain trying to sneak in later innings. that was last week. we knew yesterday that that rain would hold off. oh, first pitch by the way you can see that right there we are very delighted that one of our llc fans, leuke

lymphoma, we are very concerned about that charity we like to raise money for them and our guest here was throwing out the first pitch. he was bidding on that as an auction item as part of weather day. and i'll make sure i get you his name for the next weather broadcast we do. meanwhile, i want to show you the evening planner because we have a lot of clouds around. it's about 66 degrees for 7 o'clock. by 9 o'clock, 63 and by 11 o'clock, 62. we keep it dry through the evening but the clouds, its quite breezy out here, that's for sure. we're going see those clouds continue to increase and eventually some rain is going to work its way up as we look at satellite and radar right now, you can see that most of the rain is down through southern and western virginia. so it's going to take a little while but let me tell you, it's a soaker that we've got on tap for you tomorrow morning. we are expecting a good amount of rain, a slow go of it for the morning rush hour. and plan a little extra time if you can because we do believe that rain may be heavy at times as we go through the morning hours and lighte in the afternoon. these temperatures in the 60's are going to be sticking around f

>> we're coming up with more of our top stories. a man sentenced to life without parole for the brutal murder of his girlfriend. he stabbed her multiple times before pouring gasoline on her and then setting her on fire to cover up the evidence. the two had a child together. the victim had just been awarded primary custody. >> this woodbridge woman faces child neglect charges tonight. police say da lisa torres left her 10-year-old child at home unattended while she went on a trip out of state. child protective services responded and released the child to a family member. torres is being held without bond. >> update on a story we told you about a couple months ago. this was heavens luster suffering from one of the worst cases of led poisoning in d.c. the family was renting with d.c. housing

the family has been struggling to find a new permanent home going from hotel to hotel. attorneys at the children's law center told fox5 they frequently see discrimination against families with housing vouchers tonight the luster fame say they've found a new permanent home which should make it easier for heavens to get all the treatment and therapy she needs. >> all right, here's what you need to know right now. a large tree has come down across the roadway in north -- in the northwest neighborhood. the tree is blocking traffic in the 1200 block of 34th street not very far from prospect street. you can see it there. the tree down there across the roadway. no injuries reported. but of course this is going to be a problem as we're heading into the rush hour as crews try to clear that area so keep that in mind. >> ♪ maryland state officials are calling it the biggest effort in years to protect the chesapeake bay. governor hogan put his signature on a series of

laws aimed at protecting the environmentally. >> they're concerned the federal environmental protection agency under the trump administration could push back on the progress& that's been made. >> tom fitzgerald is in annapolis tonight. tom, those concerns are both inside and outside of state government. >> reporter: you're right about that, sarah. in fact, maryland governor larry hogan today saying bluntly he is prepared to take on both the federal government and the epa if they do anything that he determines could harm the chesapeake bay, the environment or any other environmental areas within the state. now, maryland officials joined together and successfully beat back $73 million worth of cuts in the recent budget proposal in congress. however, they are not done there. maryland democrats and republicans joining together to pass billions of dollars worth of environmental protection laws the governor saying today this is not only critical for the future but for the present day economy of this state. >> for the first time ever we

fully funded bay restoration. we put $3 billion into it. so, the state has been take, the lead. we're a little bit concerned and we've expressed our concern about the potential cuts in washington which now did not go through but that was 73 million over five states. we took $3 billion. that's less than we put in every month. >> reporter: now, take a look at this. if you had any doubt about governor hogan ready to do battle with washington, over his shoulder today, the backdrop for all of this, the pride of baltimore the tall ship firing off a cannon salute as hogan put his signature on these series of environmental protection bills. to drive this point home even further before this ceremony got under way today all of these bills being signed, the governor himself showed up in this thing, this is an electric car fitting as the 2017 environmental agenda included incentive to promote electric car usage in maryland and p

electric cars. this also went into things like water and air quality, developing private clean energy innovations in maryland. environmental groups here in maryland, they will tell you groups like water keepers maryland, with this change in management in washington at the epa right now maryland and other states are sort of on their own if they're going to work to protect their own environment and not rely on washington. >> maryland really wanted to become a leader on some of these environmental issues and i think that that's in part because there's a lot of question about whether the federal government is going to really pursue its role as that back stop and protect the environment. so maryland has stepped up. >> reporter: and you know they're not just doing this out of the goodness of their heart. there is a lot of money at stake here. $16 billion in tourism in maryland regards to the environment here. the seafood industry

$600 million at stake. many on both sides saying tonight this was a major step forward for this state protecting its own backyard. we're live in annapolis tonight, tom fitzgerald fox5 local news. >> president trump signing a new executive order today make, it easier for religious organizations to get involved in politics. the order is aimed at weakening the enforcement of the johnson amendment which bars churches and tax exempt groups from endorsing political candidates. mr. trump also claims the orderly is meant to prevent religious discrimination. >> today my administration is leading by example as we take historic steps to protect religious liberty in the united states of america. [applause] we will not allow people of faith to be targeted bullied or silenced anymore.

and we will never ever stand for religious discrimination. never, ever. >> the president also announced his first foreign trips as president scheduling trips to saudia arabia israel and the vatican later this month. >> twitter google and facebook are at the center of a major lawsuit brought on by the families of the victims killed in that 2015 terrorist attack in san bernadino. the families are suing the tech giants for allowing isis to build anline presence and spread its extremists beliefs. syed farook and his wife killed 14 people and injured 22 others in that attack. the victims families allege that the attackers use of social media directly influenced their actions. >> ♪ >> well, the eagles are suing a mexican hotel named, hotel california for capitalizing off the band's hit song. the group claims the hotel is leading guests

>> we have an update. skyfox over the scene of a gas leak. now here's the deal. this is happening. first the report came in at an aldie grocery store which obviously a pretty busy place on smoke town road in woodbridge around 3:30 this afternoon. when they got there they found high levels of carbon monoxide. we're now being told that there is a thrift store nearby the village thrift store. that's where the gas leak is coming from. nonetheless you figure in a strip mall situation like that the gas will spread, the gas dissipates but nonetheless we know several people still reported feeling sick. one person's been taken to the hospital. again, looks like the gas is coming from a

some rain around here as early as 9 o'clock, maybe a little bit earlier than that. temperatures in the suburbs could drop down into the 50's. the setup for tomorrow, a lot of moisture being pulled up ahead of this frontal system. we'll watch the area of low pressure get closer to us and as that happens there's a marginal risk of some severe thunderstorms tomorrow. primarily during the first half of the day and then possibly late in the afternoon we may have a couple of thunderstorms get strong, too, but most of the action is the first half of the day. showers tonight. lows in the 50's for the suburbs. we're down to about 60 degrees here in town. check out futurecast. bringing the rain in overnight tonight. pretty good rain, too. it all comes moving through. it's a wet commute tomorrow morning. this is moving it out real quick, okay, so hopefully by nine, 10, 11 o'clock in the morning we'll be all dry and there's a possibility of a few more thunderstorms coming up in the afternoon, okay. we could get as much as maybe an inch to an inch and a half of rain. where those thunderstorms set up and bring that really heavy rain in a short period of time it might even be a little bit more than that. high tempetu
