live in southeast. paul. >> hey there, guys, the mayor came down to 22 and alabama avenue which is not far from turner elementary school and where the mayor led a community walk. she came along for a couple of blocks we cage down we wanted to see if the mayor and new chief came up with new crime initiatives to drive down the crime even more than it is dropping and we want to point out that on the crime mapping web site, that the d.c. police run, i was able to look in that area where the mayor was today and in just that general neighborhood and last year there's been four murders, 21 robberies and 26 assault with a dangerous weapon for a total crimes last year however that's down when compared to the year before. now, i talked to the mayor and the chief today about the crime initiatives and here's what they had to

crime is down across the city and we have several service district we're focused on through the summer and washed 8 and other high crime areas. part of what we talked toed is is people need more services. i'll bring our substance abuse in health van to come to this corridor as well as our employment services van so we can have throughout the summer more concentrated services. >> this year we identified six areas, five of those areas are ward 7 and ward 8. so we don't only do this by ourselves with the police but all the d.c. government agencies are involved in this and it's been extremely successful. sgle mayor becauseer makes it a habit to come out into the community. he she

all sort of issues including trash. to make a point the mayor bent down and picked it up. she heard complaint from residents about crime in the neighborhood. especially shootings along with the mayor on the walk were representatives from many agencies who are ready to listen to the complaints and help where cot. the mayor made it a point to operate in high crime neighborhood. there have been 217 reported crimes in the immediate neighborhood which is down significantly from the year before. now, as you know, atvs and dirt bike riders became a big problem in the city and as you know the police will not chase them. it's too dangerous. however it's a major concern here in this section of the city where many riders come from. i asked chief newsham what he had to say about it. >> this is something every community that the mayor and i go to the community will not tolerate this and

frederick. and over to portions of howard county that's where temperatures low to mid 30s. cold enough that you could have some damage and plants. if you have a few minutes and did enthusiastic gardening although i don't know how you would have gotten it in it was soggy. cover those up and bring them in to protect them. not unusual to have a frost in may and it takes a while before we'll say the coast is clear. but tonight definitely cold one. and it's chilly already, 64. with a breeze going. you really feel. it it's already 5 in martinsburg and winchester and culpeper 64 and mannasas 66 and it has been quite notably breezy throughout the day. winds not terrible but gusting up to 20, 24 miles an hour across the region. definitely factor that in with cooler than average temperatures and dry air and it's really noticeable. the chill is m coming from this storm system and upper level low that is grad i'llly going to weaken and move away. hey at least it's not swi

testified that he had seen no evidence of any klution between the trump campaign and russia. >> that statement by jim c clapper today has been a hallmark of the trump administration or trump campaign defense on all of this. keep in mind, republicans and democrats on capital hill and 17 intelligence agencies came to general conclusion that y yes, russia did try to influence the 2016 election and question ahead is this. did trump campaign know about this or participate in any way? so far, there's been no evidence on that and none was produced in the hearing today. but the former acting attorney general of the united states sally yates fired by the trump white house testified today she did warn the trump administration that michael flynn the former national security advisor was telling false tales about his contact with the russians and opening himself up to blaek mail. despite that warning, yooits said flynn stayed on the

white house official was in fact the vice-president of the united states. mike pence who appeared on several sunday morning talk shows in and to defend michael flynn largely on points that michael flynn had told pence himself and in essence yates says by lying to vice-president she put him in bad position with false information that he then relayed unwittingly to the person people and in his testimony today former obama director of national intelligence was asked again about this point he made that he found no evidence of the trump campaign worked with coluded with or worked to manipulate the 2016 election. clapper answered that question firmly saying he had no such evidence. and wheniates was put that question by lindsay gram.
