in the oval office and will be closed to the press. russias foreign minister is also set to meet with secretary of state rex tillerson to discuss the ukraine and syria. analysts say it could be a sign the us russia relations are improving. after president trump said they were at all-time low. that meeting likely overshadowed by yesterday's bombshell the head of the fbi fired and no one saw it coming. including apparently james comey himself. >> he allegedly heard about his firing while watching it live on television from los angeles. while the white house defends the decision the reaction from both sides of the aisle has been harsh. you annie yu is live outside the fbi headquarters now with more. annie? >> reporter: good morning to all of you. well the president certainly hasn't shown any regret in his decision. he when he made the decision last night he said that this was necessary to bring change and to restore public trust and confidence and just shore time ago he tweeted comey lost the confidence of almost everyone

washington. republicans and democrats alike, when things calm down they will be thanking me and that's something he tweeted just about less than two hours ago. you know, james comey did have his critics here in washington. but many are questioning the timing of this decision. what a road it has bit for former f bit. director james comey. a helicopter followed his motorcade to the airport he would board jet to his return ride to d.c. just aft learning he had be fired by president trump. >> clearly a loss of confidence in director comey in the men and women he so ably serve the fb. >> president fired comey in one page letter saying he was following requests from his attorney general and deputy attorney general who criticized clinton investigation.e hillary- i have stepped the recommendation and you are here by terminated and removed from office effective immediately. the reaction from democrats was swift. >> i simply said to him, mr. president in all

we want to get back our top story. the surprise firing of the fbi director james comey. what's next for the fbi it's white house russia probe and those calls for special prosecutor we turn to fox's chief intelligence correspondent catherine herridge who is also outside the fbi headquarters this morning busy morning, catherine. thanks so much for joining us. >> you're welcome. i think one of the principal issues people are asking this morning is what to make of this timing. my contacts are pointing me to two events holly. one, april 25th which is when the new deputy attorney general rod rosenstein was confirmed and at that time he was tasked by the justice department and the white house to do review of the fbi director comey's conduct last year during the clinton e-mail investigation. and it was rosenstein's conclusion that the fbi director had effectively colored outside the lines and moved beyond his role as the chief federal investigator and put

prosecutor's hat when he announced that very public news conference in july that he was recommending against criminal charges for hillary clinton in the mishandling of classified information. i'm told the second event was direct comey's recent testimony on the hill before the senate judiciary committee where he stood by those decisions and he seemed to refuse to accept that he had made an error by making those public statements. director comey testified that he felt he had a choice last year about revealing to the public whether he was reopening the fbi e-mail probe 11 days before the election and he said it was a stark choice between being very public about it and transparent or concealing the matter. rosenstein the new deputy attorney general said that conceal was a very loaded word because that is not what the fbi does. they choose not to talk about these investigations in public. and that is the proper course of action. so that's we're told but the timing i have caveat with that. i know with incoming members of

the administration in november and december of last year, there was certainly a couldn't tip jent that felt that the fb. director was extremely damaged and their vote was to remove him as soon as president trump was sworn in office but a decision was made to leave director comey in that job and see if they could move on from the e-mail case which apparently they could not in the end. >> so a couple questions here in regards to both of those timing issues, one in terms of rosenstein, he effectively becomes the head of the investigation now or do you think it's a case of be careful what you wish for, um, this might just push forward -- towards a special prosecutor which i'm not sure president trump would want? >> so deputy attorney general rod rosenstein really has reputation of being a very straight shooter. he's worked for both republican and democratic administrations. he has been effectively the head of the russian investigation in the justice department because i'm sure as you recall the attorney general

took himself out of that investigation because he had what was described as improper contacts with the russian ambassador. so for the time being, rosenstein remains in charge of that investigation. this could -- you can make the argument that this tips the balance towards special prosecutor special counsel of some sort. but i would argue that that would probably be seen as premature within the justice department. and the fbi because rosenstein is really the new guy on the block, and has barely been in office and should be given a chance to take the reigns of that very sensitive case. >> what about the new director of the fbi, that will be needed, because it was my understanding that comb mow was very popular amongst at the fb. one of the reasons they hiked him so much he was seen as independent as you could be? what does this do for the moral of the fbi, what happened are maybe some early names as who might be tapped to lead that agency

>> well, based on federal fbi agent that is i have spoken with, they say to director comey was in fact very polarizing figure within the bureau. there was the camp that was very pro director comey and then there was the camp that felt that he had taken the bureau and thrust them into the middle of the political cycle last year which is something that the fbi director should never do. so there was really a split opinion. what i will tell you is that some of those former agents felt that the fbi director was badly damaged and probably so badly damaged that he was not able to really effectively lead the bureau coupled with the fact that really since the middle of last year we have not had an attorney general who is completely in control of their department. attorney general lynch had to take herself out of e-mail probe and attorney general jeff sessions is not having any contact with the russia investigation and they said the totality of that picture has been bad for federal law enforcement and for the justice department because at the end of the day we're a nation of

damaged or not in meet roll of their department, that's really not good thing that serves the country's interests. >> catherine herridge, we always appreciate your insight. thank you much for joining us this morning. >> you're welcome. >> one thing we have seen with president trump is that he values loyalty and anyone that doesn't seem loyal to him or someone that comes across as unpredictable which is maybe some would say with comey we have seen them be let go. so it continues. we'll see how this all plays out. >> we'll couldn't as well. 9:17 right now. here in the district the national annual national police week is underway a very important memorial ceremony takes place in arlington. >> law enforcement will gather at the police memorial statue honoring officers who died in the line of duty. another name will be added for the first time over a decade. fox5's bob barnard joins us live with the details. bob. >> reporter: ceremony just wrapping up here in arlington county, and, yes, the police memorial here just had

name added to it corporal harvey snook the third who died in january of last year. he died of cancer. cancer that he contracted on the job and you see the wreaths are here and they're still officers from around the region even a couple from london we've noticed here an plaque with corporal snook's image has just been add to this memorial area. family relatives were here. a lot of tears a lot of emotiony favre arlington county. chief, harvey dived cancer last year. >> that's right. >> cancer that you believe he contracted on the job. tell our viewers hour that happened. >> what we've come to find over time is obviously you saw what happened in new york city and what happened down here in pentagon. new york city police officers have identified over time assort of unique type of cancer as a result of the chemicals from the aircraft exposure and harvey

evidence collection piece here at the pentagon which put him in high degree of exposure for an extended peer of time to those so many chemicals which we believe ultimately led to his control. >> he was on patrol the morning of september11th, 2001 and responded to the pentagon and was there for a week. the photo we have of him is with his k nip partner. he was a k9 officer. >> absolutely. >> and you eulogized him here very gregarious talkative fungi. >> harvey was, you know, like everything else this job can be really change challenging job. if you're going to be suck suss full you have sense humor. harvey a sense humor. he was dedicated to one of the people. we talked to young officer he mentored through this career it would never have been the same if it wasn't for harvey that took him under his wing and showed him the way. hair 53 was all about the team not about harvey. >> chief thank you very much, chief jay farr arlington county. thank you very much. as we leave you people still taking photographs in front of

kind of about desire specifically her desire. they come to a small town in texas, martha, texas kind of in the middle of nowhere, and they have lost a little bit of the spark to their romantic side of their marriage, and she develops an obsession with this mysterious sculptor wannabe cowboy dude in the town, and her obsession with him sort of ignites the fire again in the relationship with her husband and there begins this oddball kind of love triangle. >> when i watched the pilot episode, it really is, um, awkward and yet intriguing and pulls you in almost like watching a train wreck. >> yes. it is definitely like, you know, my favorite kind of comedy is cringe comedy and so i feel like

as reading the original source material as you kind of felt like you were reading it through your fingers because her behavior is like so embarrassing and she just goes without shame and without apology she just, um, is obsessed with this guy and can't -- can't just cannot drop it. >> the acting is great. i love, you know, the acting is second to none. goes without saying. but i also love how the story is told and i think, um, it's very unique in watching it. something else like this isn't really out there. >> we don't really feel like there's anything else that's quite like it on television. >> um-um. >> that has to do partly with the acting but definitely with the writing and definitely in the way it's shot and edited and the music and the color of the show. everything about it is just, you know

way, and they're also using little clips from, um, films of other female kind of art film art house film makers that are interspersed throughout the s show. and, you know, you were talking about feeling uncomfortable, you know, there's a lot of, um, stuff bogey meg alley and se sexually in the film that will have some people lean in and say, wow, i kind of either dig that, it turns me on, or i relate to that and then there's some things that will make people sort of lean out and go, i'm not sure i understand that, i'm not sure -- i really get that or that makes me feel uncomfortable and to me that's like the greatest thing. like that's one of the things that i think we're all really happy with. >> yeah. >> i've heard people that have just watch it have conversations with other people that have just watched it, and it goes all kinds of crazy places in the way that they discuss it and i mean what else could you
