investigators zen requests to. president trump fired flynn after less than a month on the job after he reportedly misled the white house about his communications with russian officials during the presidential transition. the drama on capitol hill does not end there as the fallout continues over the firing of james comey as fbi director. the department of justice is now denying reports that comey quested more resources for the investigation into russian meddling. just days before his firing. >> meantime there are mixed reactions over calls by some lawmakers for special prosecutor to continue that investigation. our melanie alnwick live on capitol hill this morning with more. good morning, mel. >> reporter: good morning once again, guys. those calls for special prosecutor continue to swirl around cap capitol hill even as former fbi director james comey tells his colleagues to move on. >> because he wasn't doing a good job, very simply. he was not doing good job. >> reporter: the president defending his decision to fire fbi director james comey and this morning reports that trump

tomorrow to voice his support for the bureau. comey who was spotted outside his home did pen letter to colleagues and friends saying "i have long believed that a president can fire an fbi director for any reason or for no reason at all. i'm not going to spend time on the decision or the way it was he can cuted. i hope you won't either ". >> but democrats are already using the comey firing to renew their calls for a special prosecutor to take over the fbi's investigation into alleged ties between the kremlin and the trump campaign. >> this special prosecutor would have much greater latitude who he can subpoena, which questions they ask, how to conduct an investigation. >> reporter: the president who met yesterday in the oval office with russia' force ren minister took to twitter "dems have been complaining for months and months about director comey. now that he's been fired, they pretend to be a grieved. phony, hypocrites ". >> republican leaders in congress are

news it cannot comment on an open case. this morning new developments in a fox5 excl exclusive. the number of staff caught up in child abuse or misconduct cases in prince george's county schools continues to grow. >> in fact fox5 has learned that in just the last month, more than 100 new cases have been added. fox5's annie yu bringing us up to date live from upper marlboro with the latest. annie? >> reporter: hey, good morning to all of you. this is definitely a story we have been following for weeks now, and you know, we can tell you that school officials are actually going to be revamping and reviewing some school po policies because of what's going on out here. the nu numbers just haven't gotn better. in fact they have gotten work. about a month ago we told you that 636 -- 636, yes, cases were reported for misconduct and in just one month it spiked to 788. so you're looking at 152 more cases in the school district so we're talking about hundreds of staff

administrative leave at some point this school year for alleged child abuse or neglect, and we're also told that most of them will not be returning to work. now, we talked to some teachers and they tell us that the staggering number isn't about abuse or the mass abuse but a system that just isn't working. after some high profile child abuse cases in the county, prince george's county schools they felt like they kneed to do more to protect students and so they revamped their current policies and teachers say that, you know, while they agree that more needed to be done, the new policies could be doing more harm than good. and some teachers we spoke to said they're so afraid of these new rules that they have -- they're afraid to even help students in some cases because of the physical contact that could be involved and so school officials tell us that they will be reviewing these policies again and by this summer they hope to organize some training as well as far as reporting these incidents. so a lot to happen here in prince george's county and something that we'll be watching closely. that's the very l

[ laughter ] >> i muddle all my energy into the caps. because that game in' boston was over now the caps played very well in the first period. they had a couple of flurries of activity in the second period but i tell you, to me, grant, when they did not have an immediate answer for the first penguins goal even with power play opportunities, and they didn't get the job done there, that's whoo i really thought, this might not happen. >> yeah, i believe that's true, steve. right awa

there could be some backlash? >> that was definitely in the mix had we were making the decision whether or not to even go forward with the show. but what we found very early on in our practice was that people didn't know that we existed. and we wanted to get the word out there and what better way to get the word out there we're changing lives for the better than to have a show like this, show not only in our local community but nationwide and even internationally for that matter. and we're treating people not only with aesthetic cosmetic procedures but doing live ch changing keloid procedures as doctors have been -- have tried to solve this problem of keal lloyds and we actually feel that we have an answer and so to be able to have show that puts that out there, how we can manage these patients that are suffering from this diss or is really important. >> i think a lot of people look at plastic surgery you think it's about vanity and someone wanting to just change their outside but you're not only fixing the outside you mentioned the inside which is ho

therapist. you are therapists real toll these patients. that's the big component of the show. >> every patient that walks through the door is getting a transformation in life. it isn't just the outside it's from the inside out when they walk in our doors, they are part of a family and this kind of all started when i was doing,, what do you, you know, i was in news anchor and i would see these patients come through the door because i was a news anchor by night. his assistant by day. and so i would talk to the patients i found myself doing a patient consultation and actually interviewing them and i would get to the bottom of their story and people were hurting. they were suffering and they wanted, you know, help and so i wanted to be able to tell these stories and bring it to the for front. and like you said, it's not just vanity. people's lives are really being changed here. >> i know we talk about your personal life in the series we see you talking about your up bringing and some things that are pretty painful for you that you scharr with the public. you're doing this whole project with pretty big names. queen la tito if a and her unit. >> yes. how did t
