quickly usher out of the courtroom in tears. here at home, 2dc police officers are administrative leave following this shooting that was caught on camera. the officers responded to reports of a car crash and a woman with a gun. the officers shot isabel duvall tuesday night outside of a rec center on july lee yet street in southwest. when she refused to drop her gun. she later died to the hospital and some witnesses are telling fox5 that the woman raised the weapon toward police. this is the city's second deadly police involved shoot shooting this year alone. the officers were wearing body cameras and they were activated at the time of the shooting. also in the district police investigate a deadly hit-a hit-and-run. just six years old. police have a suspect in custody this morning. annie yu live in southeast with all the details fours this morning. annie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, steve and to all of you. just got word from d.c. police that the young victim the six-year-old boy is xavier lucky of southeast d.c., and police tell us that around 7:30 last night xavier was in the street here

livingston road this is a residential road. you can see. when he was hit by a car. now, this section of the road is a two-way street. it's got to crosswalk. and just like most reasonable areas, 25 miles an hour zone. the child was taken to hospital once he was hit. where sadly did he not make it. if you look on the other side you can see that there are picnic tables, a playground, there's a rec area where kids can play. so it's unclear right now what the circumstances were. why the boy was in the street perhaps he was crossing the street. but employees just aren't sure right now that's still under investigation. now, this video is from last night. dc police chief peter newsham was out here he toll us that this was initially hit-and-run but again still investigating the circumstances because they say the driver of the striking vehicle he did leave the scene but not long after the accident last night police say the driver actually contacted police himself. he is being questioned. no word on any charges at the moment. we know that the

police as well, of course, they are grieving the loss we also talked to lot of neighbors and they were devastated over the news. this is just heartbreaking guys. just six years old. but again identified as xavier lucky. circumstances unknown at the moment but we can tell you that police have identified a suspect. the driver of that car. they are questioning him. and charges if any we just don't know about that right now. we're awaiting for word on that. that's the very latest here from southeast. on livingston road back to you in the studio. >> we don't know if he was out that by himself or with other kids, sibling, his parents? >> reporter: well, you know, police chief newsham told us that there were lot of people out here. again this happening at 7:30, and with the playground here, the rec center it was lovely evening. so there were a lot of witnesses to is a what happened, but as far as the little boy goes, we're not sure what he was doing, who he was with. we know his parents were talking to police but we just don't know if he was under supervision or not at the time.

♪ >> that is the band audio slave fronted by chris cornell. music world mourning the loss of cornell this morning one of the most influential members of the '90's grunge movement died last night at the age of 52. allison is back with details what we know so far about what happened last night but more importantly look back at his stelle larry career. >> the voice of a generation, right? >> our generation i suppose. chris cornell passed away in detroit overnight. official cause of death has hasn't been reveal but there are reports that he may have committed suicide. our

says cornell was found dead inside his hotel room around midnight. he had just finished a performance with his band sound garden. he even tweet add photo from the venue the fox theater there very famous in detroit hours just before his death. the venue where he performed tweeted out a photo of cornell on stage. cornell rose to fame as the lead singer of sound garden. sound garden one of the biggest bands out seattle's emerging music scene joining the likes of nirvana, pearl jam and allison chains. sound garden broke through on main stream radio with the album super unknown when debut number one on the billboard 200 and was nominated for grammy for best rock record in 1995. sound garden disbanned in 1997 due to tensions in the band and that's when cornell pursued a career solo career and then in 2001 he joined audio slave. after that band broke up, cornell reunited with members of sound garden back in 2012 and released a sixth album together. reaction to

hit major stages jimmy kimmel live the late late show with james core don't and coachella where i got to see i was couple of week ago. last friday the debut album finally dropped. they're on nationwide tour. tonight they're at the 930 club. so good to see guys this morning. >> good morning. >> first start with how the whole group came together because you were able to keep this under wraps for long time, right, before it came out. >> tom, adrian and myself have been playing together for many, many years. and we knew we wanted to continue to play together, um, and davey was a friend of ours, and we asked him if he'd like to embark on a musical end deaf with us and we did. um, ask him out on a date, and had a dinner and presented him with four pieces of music, and he fortunately said yes. and that was the start of dream car. >> what your first thoughts when you heard the music for the first time? >> oh, so inspiring. the boys

after we had had dinner. and the first track that i heard was what became after i confessed, and that first moment of music was so inspirational that i started writing immediately, and i finished that song and three others win, um, winless than 48 hours, and i sent it to the boys, and they seemed to enjoy it as well and so we continue to work. >> here you are now. this is what i think is cool about you guys. i've always appreciated all of your work independently and i know that even what we hear main stream from you guys isn't even what you guys really grew up with. tom i think you were like a metal guy growing up. which i completely respect that as well. but you know listen i listened to the aficd's and the old old no doubt cd's from the earlier days of the band. and now we have something that's just seems completely different. but for people of our generation it's really cool. what was the idea to go back to that kind of '80s sound? >> when we started experimenting with

have a game plan for style or what kind of band we thought it should be. there was no discussion about that. it was more about just getting in a room, being creative and seeing what felt good. and it just felt good and we just kept going and kept going and landed what the sound is of dream car it wasn't really a master plan of any kind. so when you have this now and you guys are just getting started with major touring now doing the head lining shows you've done the festivals. does that sound kind of start to evolve and change at all? or do you know exactly what you want right now. >> no. having written the record for us now touring it's just a matter of us being able to get out there and play the songs we spent years creating and honing and perfecting to people who have never heard them before. the record came out last friday. so now these are the first shows we'll be playing since the record has come out. we played a lot of shows including coachella which was such a luxury to be able to play coachella when you don't have a record out. before the record came out. now we're playing

that people maybe know. >> can you tell when you're doing a show after the record comes out as far as before the audience does it change at all now you see more people singing the lyrics as they learn the songs more? how does that differ. >> well find that out tonight. tonight is the first show since wife of we've but the record out last friday as we were playing the shows on the west coast, we were releasing song by song like a couple songs here and there we can see the audience reaction. once they had the lyric videos and they had chance to learn the songs and sing them back to us. we're so excited to get out on stage tonight and play. >> you guys are veterans of the industry and veterans of touring but my goodness looking at your schedule. you're in d.c. tonight new york tomorrow night. back to california on saturday and black to physical on the east coast. how you keep up with it. >> different ban members.
