of -- i think what they've done here from what i understand what i've read they've kind of incorporated a little more humor like the marvel franchises do. there's a reason why the marvel films do so well. iagus tis league will do the exact same thing. batman versus su superman was sh a dark movie. i'm wondering if they're going to lighten it up with comedy. >> kev as one of the resident non comic movie fans here, i get a little confused when i watch these trailers. do we know what the plot of this movie is? >> wonderwoman takes place during world war one. so actually getting the beginning of her character. chris pine is in the film as well. actually don't know much about the plot. i've kind of stayed away from learning too many details. all i've seen is the trailers. i know that we learn about her as a kid and then we meet her mother obviously and then at one point it takes place during world war one i'm focused on like the way the action. it looks really cool. i'm excited

like the bullets, you know, banging off her arms it looks awesome. >> i can honestly say i have never associated wonderwoman with world war one. >> thus my confusion. >> right. >> okay. but if we're heading to the movies this weekend, kev, what's your review for alien? >> yes. alien covenant opens up today. yesterday we were talking about the cast and the movie itself and the easiest way to put this is that this is a prequel to the 1979 alien. it takes place roughly about 19 years before the events of ridley scott's classic film in '79. takes place ten years after the events of prometheus and i think ridley scott is trying to build a trilogy essentially it leads news the events of the famous sigourney weaver alien film. i'm just so fascinated by how well the '79 film holds up. if you go back and watch that john hurt sequence with the alien emerging from him, that scene still looks phenomenal today
9:46 am
practically, you know, john hurt was sit on table, there was a body double there. you know i read somewhere they didn't even tell the actors in the scene what was going to happen. i don't know if that's true. but that would be really cool scenario to know that the actors were genuinely shocked by what they saw. but the film itself alien covenant it takes place on a ship called the covenant. a colony ship and basically going to an unchartered paradise they're met with aliens. but specifically speaking the real star of this film michael fassbender who plays walter and david in the movie. he is incredible. and it is to a point where he steals the entire film even from the aliens and this is a very brutal film. i mean if you've seen the first '79 you know exactly what you're getting yourself 92. the first alien film was a horror film. the second one was an action movie aliens with james cameron film i like it. i think the script was thin in regards to the other characters. but fassbender is so complex and so great that he makes
9:47 am
that. it's very intense, very brutal and any alien fan who has seen alien will appreciate the idea of how he got to those events. so -- ridley scott is directing he's back in the director's chair, you know, over 38 years later. so it's kind of cool to see him taking on that story line again. did he prometheus as well. >> kind of cool to see somebody like that doing without a movie without the practical effects. if you did it practically the first time time redoing things for the modern area. >> right. >> steve, by the way he's still doing practical effects obviously they're doing cgi with gigantic special effects shots and the space ships they have a 6-foot eight guy playing the alien onset. hugger when it comes out of the egg they're using hydraulics for that. i mean it's still -- they're doing things practically. but they're just filling in the gaps with cgi no way they could just built though gigantic shares ships. they have some of those built onset but not all of them. >> awesome. thanks kev.
