they targeted basically young girls and kids and western culture ariana grande even though it happened over the uk and so i think that that may be has everyone little more on edge this morning. it's very unnerving. >> i'll tell you one of things that made me pause, you know, it's sad in and itself when i heard about the eight-year-old still missing. that a loin for some reason just solidified what had happened there. this is an eight-year-old who went to the concert with a sister. eight-year-old. you know, you've got five-year-old i've got -- you have an eight-year-old or there aout. >> 13, nine and seven. >> i can't wrap my head around hearing news that your child who you let go to concert that this is what happens. i mean, it's emotional. heartbreaking. i don't know when it stops. i don't know what's go to make it stop but this can't be the world our children that they're growing up in. i can't wrap my head around t that. that's been going through my mind over and over again these last hours much it's heartbreaking much it's heartbreaking. >> unfortunately, though this is the world that we live in.

comfort must be driven out from our society forever. this wicked ideology must be obliterated. >> reporter: at this time officials in manchester will also say that this appears to be the work of a single suicide bomber but there are concerns that others may have been involved. here at home, the department of homeland security saying there are no specific threats but the public may experience increased security in and around public places and events as officials take additional precautions. in fact at a john legend concert on grand prairie, tech text last night, there was beefed up security. the manchester attack is a reminder that open societies can be vulnerable targets but investigators may quickly determine who was behind this. >> identification very very soon. i suspect they already know. >> reporter: and again, some information about that bombing. authorities saying it was it

missing in manchester to post photos and names of those unaccounted for to try to get them circulate aig round the web which is terrible and hear heartbreaking to see. when you see the faces of some of those who have been missing and maureen leak you said when you were talking about kids who are not even tweens but in some cases very very young elementary school aged people who are still missing. but again, shows the good use of the internet out there and hopefully in the areas around manchester wherever you know these youngsters may be hopefully good samaritan perhaps suffered some help or someone knows where they are. many of the people who were hospitalized hopefully are in good enough condition they can be reunited with their loved ones soon. >> prayers to each and of one of those people. let's look at this image circumstance laying on social media this morning from an ariana grande fan. the girl named georgine in a was at last night's concert and sadly killed in the attack. she was a big fan of ari nan's two years ago she met the singer and posted this photo to her

so this past sunday so excited to see you. also killed in the attack this little girl. eight-year-old steffie russo at the concert with her mom and sisters. they were injured. officials say at least 12 hildren under the age of 16 were hurt in this blast and again the faces that need to be seen to show the world what these animals are doing. >> so i see those little faces and i think of the conversations and the homes like maybe this was her first concert. you know what i mean? maybe as an eight-year-old you're taking your daughter to her first concert as a 1684 old as a parent you're letting your child go to a concert without you for the first time. you know what i mean? just, oh my gosh. >> think of that excitement the weeks leading up to it making signs or whatever they're doing getting pumped up listening to the mu sick singing along. >> the young man in the jean overall he was embarking and two month journey here to the united states on this, you know supposed to be the trip of a lifetime. he'd been having parties and get together had a huge social network of friends and then to have

obviously be someone they'll say was on our radar. they're always on radar. why can't we just get them before it happens? >> well, this morning, latest information is that the islamic state isis has claimed responsibility for the planting of this device outside the concert venue. my contacts say they're very focused on whether this individual was somebody who was inspired by the terrorist group or someone who had recently returned in iraq and syria had received training in bomb making there, and may have been directed by the terrorist group to launch this particular attack. in answer to your question, you know security is an art not a science. knowing at what point this person as they saw crosses the threshold to violence is very unpredictable. and because they are connected to extremist or ideologil

even if they have returned from iraq and syria and may not necessarily be enough to arrest them and britain faces far greater challenge than we have here in the united states which is that it simply not possible to keep the number of people suspected ties under 24 hour surveillance because you're talking in the hundreds if not the thousands of individuals in that country. >> catherine, we were talking earlier about how we always worry about security and thing getting into a venue. this wasn't the case here. they were outside of security. and just lay in wait. near where lots of people were going to be coming out and get on to mass transit. do we need to change how we look at being safe and at security at events like this. >> years ago i've been covering this area for nearly 30 years now, and i was given a piece of advice then that really rings true today which is that terrorism is like water and it takes the path of least resistance. and it's a thinking enemy. yo

another. so as we ramped up security inside venues like we saw in manchester what they do they move to the perimeter. so the question is whether the solution is to continue to push out that security perimeter. but you know it's reasonable to see that this is just not practical. in the long term. what happened here is at least based on our reportings so far is that there was a lot of premeditation. they chose an area that they knew would be mack mum area for traffic after the attack it did not require them to have the same level of security screening and when you're in what's called an closed space that has the effect of amplifying the concussive impact of the explosion the shrapnel that's a fancy way of saying you are maximizing the number of who will be injured and killed as a result. >> so what are we learn from this or where do we go from here or is it just this

we live in and we wait for the neck time? >> well, i would encourage people to see what develops in the next 24 hours and the degree to which this individual was already known to british authorities and i think most significantly whether this individual was inspired to act by isis or what i think would be far more serious they had received some kind of bomb-making training in iraq and syria and had recently returned to the uk and was somehow tasked with this operation. remember as we have been putting pressure on isis in iraq and syria and we've been squeezing their presence in raqqa their capital and mosul this is called a flood of foreign fighters back into europe hundreds of individuals, thousands in fact. these are people who are balance hardened if you will haven't the kind of skills and in fact may be even the willingness to carry out these attacks. so let's see where we are 24 hours from now. what we know

♪ tone 10:49. we continue the countdown to the memorial day holiday weekend way week of grilling out in the fox lot. yesterday we focused on corn-on-the-cob much this morning we're moving on to the mape course. team cooking with como this morning. >> thank you wis dollar. that's right we have chef as well butcher nathan from the partisan and we're ma making ban cured ribs that's main course for a memorial day barbecue. >> definitely. >> you cut your own slices of meat and everything. you prefer the spare ribs, right. >> i love the spare ribs. little fattier and they have a little more muscle to them. so they cook over a little longer and they have more of to them when they're all done. >> buck me threw the whole process how you make the bacon cured ribs and that's different than traditional barbecue sauce ribs. >> cool. we make a bacon cure which consists mostly of brown sugar, salt, black pepper

other spices. >> mix it altogether. >> mix it ought together these are spare ribs or st. louis cut ribs. >> um-hmm. >> they have more meat on the other side of the rib as well. so you want to one of the first steps there's a line of skin on this side you want to peel it off. if you don't take that off, that's when you bite a rib and it all sticks together. >> you don't want that. that's something that maybe at home chefs might accidently make the mistake. keep that in mine if you're grilling yourself and monday. >> you just want to kind of be put as much on as want. let it sit for at least four hours. >> hmm. >> as it sits it's going start you seek here it's all right starting to create little syrupy it. >> look locate canny on top of ribs. >> exactly. >> that's what you want to see. >> yes. >> after four hours maybe even up to eight hours, you'll rinse it. so it doesn't have all of that stuff on it. then you can go straight on to the grill. >> all right. let's show them the grill. we have some kind of hanging out over who. it gets a nice zeroed color on both sides. >> yup. so what we did, we put them on the higher heat so we can get carmelization. >> um-hmm. >> and then we moved

it's cooking inn directly. so the high heat is then cooking the heat is kind of transferring all around. >> you can smell it all the way over here. it smells really good. >> how long would you put it on the grill for. >> these will take about three and a half to four hours. >> so slow cook it after you char it. >> yup. you dope want to cook it over burn it with all some sugar and everything you're getting black spots take your time. >> those are good tips for cooking at home. i love off homemade brian this is a little different way of preparing ribs as well. >> exactly if you're not into the whole curing process you can buy our brian pack which is consists of salt and sugar and bunch of aromatics. bring water to pole, pour in into it, stir it until it dissolves and then -- >> can't open it. >> want to epp it for me. >> i hope this earlier and it smells like pepper corn. it smells good. >> dehydrated oranges and lyme's in there you get citrus aspects of it. >> you can buy this home and take it home and you c
