transforming towers and lives. meet the man using artwork to help veterans suffering from ptsd. we start tonight way violent holiday weekend here in the district. good evening, i'm sarah simmons >> three shootings in the span of three hours. this coming after eight people were shot, one victims didn't survive marina marraco live in northwest with more on what a has back busy weekends. >> reporter: it started about 5:00 through 8:00. three separate shootings and here's so you can see those three different shooting scenes, two in northwest, one in northeast. one at about 5:00 and you up to takoma and the recent one in northeast. this started saturday

lot you'll see the balloons that is a memorial for a man shot dead and today, the scene unfolded just next to us here on q and first street in northwest. at this point, police aren't saying if they believe these scenes to be connected from saturday and this evening, but today, you'll see here the police chopper searching for more suspects after who were confirmed arrested, two questioned and detained. police sources here say there were more than 40 shell casings in the area from what is believed to have been a shoot-out. thankfully no one was injured. >> we've asked for this, because we're working people and we are retirees and never had this confusion before. >> two vehicles were involved from look-outs. that's unknown at this time. it

color is laundry. >> they were quick to act. they heard about what happened. >> i'm kind of shocked people can be so many. >> reporter: police say it flyers showed up in dell ray and alexandria. racist towards african-americans. the same kind of flyers have been posted across the country, including here in the dmv. we blurred the name and website. also targeted a georgetown professor confirming richard spencer at their gym. she posted on line. the personal information was included on the flyer >> i heard about professor fair. i wanted to people to know that i felt that that was the right thing. she did the right thing. i want to do the right thing. >>

afternoon until 8:00. one of the crime scenes happening from feet away from the homicide saturday morning, seven shot, one killed, tonight there were no victims in the first shooting. at least two men, however, were arrested on weapons charges, two other shooting scenes in district. one in takoma, other one near trinidad in northeast. both resulting in victims. in alexandria, people in one community are calling for peace after racist flyers were found plastered on car, trees and utility policy. flyers were filled with hate speech about muslims and african-americans. in response, the city's mayor denounced description in all forms calling alexandria a place of kindness and compassion. neighbors are countering with flyers that contain positive messages. employes
