noted a pipe was found in the truck. newsham had nothing but praise for the officers who were struck. >> members this elite unit that we have down at adams morgan or night life unit. this is a team of unbelievable officers who were -- they're devastated by this. this is someone in their family that was significantly injured. and his prognosis, like i said is unclear. so they're heart broken by this. >> reporter: both injured officers are four-year veterans of the force. >> reporter: typically when you have a driver of a crash who's been injured, when they're taken to the hospital, blood is drawn by investigators, so they can determine whether or not that driver may have been under the influence of something. there was a third person who was injured here, it was a d dot traffic aid. that person has also been released from the hospital, we can tell you also tonight that these two officers again four year veterans both they have no working in the third district and

down here in adams morgan. one is married with two young children, the other one is married as well. live in adams morgan, paul wagner fox 5 local news. police need your help to solve a sexual assault crime in the district. take a look at this surveillance video. they say the man is wanted for allegedly sexual assaulting a woman back in march. this happened in the 2300 block of cathedral avenue northwest. you can see the victim stumbling around as she walks into the building. she told police she has no memory of her whereabouts that night or consenting to sex. if you recognize this man, please call police. dc police are also looking for a man who groped a woman nearly two weeks ago. this new surveillance video shows the man come up behind the woman. it happened around 9:00 in the evening, on georgia avenue in northwest. the woman was not seriously hurt. police are asking anyone with info

give them a call. thousands of people have arrived in the district for the gay pride weekend. and this yearly event could draw record crowds >> the parade is saturday and an equality march at the white house on sunday. mayor bowser helped welcome visitors, and painting a crosswalk along 17th into a rainbow, which is the symbol of gay pride. meanwhile, behind the scenes law enforcement is preparing to protect the crowds especially in light of recent attacks overz matt ackland is live at freedom plaza with more on that. hey there, matt. >> reporter: hey, lauren, hey, sarah, this weekend authorities say they know of no known threat to capitol pride, but they're taking steps behind the scenes to make sure everything is safe. in fact, one of the biggest festivals is right here behind me along pennsylvania avenue. they've blocked off several blocks here. for a big festival on sunday, now typically, they block off the area. but we asked the police chief today if he's taking

stories, dc police investigating a double shooting in southeast. officers say someone shot a man and woman just before 11:00 this morning. this happened in the 2300 block of hartford street. authorities say both victims are expected to survive. so far, no arrests. prince george's county police still trying to figure out what led to a serious crash in fort washington. skyfox was over the scene. two vehicles were involved in the crash. six people were hurt. at least one is in critical condition. all lanes were closed for several hours, they have since reopened. a candle vigil will be held for the victim of a deadly shooting in oxon hill. 26-year-old sh aheem was shot and killed in the 5200 block of lever rick street, a graduate of hampton university and a member of the alumni association, that group is holding a vigil at 7:00 p.m. tonight. a southeast dc man who admits he killed

two children in a drunk driving crash in oxon hill found out his punishment. a judge sentenced him to 50 year in prison. he was supposed to be sentenced last month but failed to show up. police arrested him days later and today, the judge tacked on an additional 25 days in prison for that offense. kelly pleaded guilty to negligent homicide, manslaughter and other charges related to the 2014 crash. he admits he was speeding when he rear-ended a car that was stopped at a red light. four people in the car were killed along with a passenger in kelly's car. the former mayor of fairfax city is out of jail tonight. you may recall a judge sentenced scott silver thorn to three months behind bars in a drug for second sting. since silver thorn has been jailed, he was freed earlier for time served. he may recall he was arrested last august after ranged sex parties so he could get meth. he didn't realize it at the time, but he was dealing with an undercover fairfax county police officer. during the
