this is fox5 local news at ten. tonight it was a scorcher outside and this is just the beginning of what week expect. and if you have the battle the hot temperatures we've got some tips on how to keep you safe in the heat. breaking newses in the dists, a deck at a northwest restaurant buckles with dozenses saning on it. what we're learning tonight is the how long remains closed. good to have you with us

maracco and i'm lauren demarco. the heat has been turned high up and this is just the start of those temperatures. we want to get ear to gwen for more on what we can expect going into the workweek. we are definitely going to see a rise in the temperatures. we are in for a heatwave which started today. we're not getting much break until later in the week. humidity is going to increase and it's going to make conditions very uncomfortable. let's begin with a look at the numbers for today because we were at the low 90s at all three airports. ninety-three at reagan. ninety-one at dulles and 93 at bwi thurgood marshal. those were our daytime highs today. and right now it is still exceptionally warm outside. it is 81-degree pes in the district, the same at annapolis. seventy-seven at leonardtown and at frederick. we've got 80 at baltimore, 73 at manassas and 72 at winchester. the jet extreme remains to the north of

continues to bum its way in and that will be the story as we get into tomorrow. we do have a cold orange alert air quality definitely an issue for anybody who is in the sensitive group such as people with asthma, breathing issues, heart disease, children or the elderly, so be aware of that. here's a quick look at the next couple of days, nine heat is on. i'll have more det tails later and the all important seven day forecast. you can get the forecast at any time with fox5 weather app it's free and available on i tunes and in the google play store. breaking news from the district, a restaurant in northwest was evacuated this evening after a scary incident. dozens of people were standing on the disek of the how long when the roof suddenly began to bend. fox5's kristinly own is live at the restaurant with the details kristin. >>reporter: good evening, ladies it's important to note in this case that no one was hurt, but crews tell me that

evacuated again as a precaution, otherwise this could have been a much different situation. according to the website uproar was much celebrated in the gay community. i really want to show you the building how it looks now. uproar may be closed to the right, but if you take a look to the left, this rooftop bar over here, it's still happening. people are backing that area despite the closure of up record. firefighters say they got a call about 7:00 about a possible structure collapse. at the time the rooftop deck was packed full of people and the weight of the people caused the joints of the deck to crack. i do want to be clear here, the deck itself did not collapse. as of right now we don't know exactly how many people were up there at the time or who first alerted police to the situation, but crews tell me the minute they pulled up to the

knew right away what they had to do. when we first arrived here, our fishes course of action was to evacuate building. make sure we had arrested on an outstanding safety zone established and then evaluate the issue and see what we could to mitigate it. we didn't want to put anybody in harm's way. we're going to issue establish a safety zone move anybody away who is in a hazardous area and then go about our business. it could have been a much different situation here in this case. right now the building inspector is evaluating this building as well as the one next door just to make sure that both buildings are structurally sound and that everything is up to speed there once we get word from the building inspector about the code and about the building itself and how things are of course we will let you know that person is supposed to let us know that he will open the bar and how long. for now reporting live here in northwest d.c., kristin leone, fox5 local

investigation will take center stage on capital hill. attorney jeff sessions is scheduled to testify before the senate intelligence committee on tuesday. this all comes just days after fired fbi director james comey provided testimony before that very same committee and earlier today president trump took sharp aim at comey calling him a coward during an early morning tweet. we get the latest from kristin fisher. it's been three days since comey's testimony, but president trump is still coming out swinging. he said this morning on twitter, quote, i believe the james comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anything else possible. totally illegal and very cowardly. the new chairman of the rnc hodded contact she was critical of comey's admission that he was the one who leaked the press. i think it shows how questionable his character that he would take conversations that he had with the president of the united states which should be

community. the capital pride concert wrapped up just a short time ago and a huge dance party now ending. lindsay watts joins us live from capital with more. hey, lindsay. >>reporter: lauren and marina, capital pride is now coming to a close, but it has been a great weekend. i was just talking to a police officer out here who says \he\e hasn't heard of any arrests today. he hasn't heard of any major problems, with we saw just a lot of people having a good time. you can see that the cleanup is already underway they're starting to break down the stage. earlier tonight people got to see a free show with my lie sigh rest as well as -- take a listen. miley sigh rest of course was the headliner and she didn't go on until about

thing and then that could elevate to heat exhaustion where you're going to be very nauseated, you're going to have a headache and be dizzy. you could also have slight pain in your extremities. that is something where you have to get inside, cool down and drink lots of water. when you start to go into heat stroke you stop sweating. your body temperature gets to be about 103, 104-degrees. that is clearly a 911 space situation. call immediately for emergency assistance. is there any particular group of people that might be more vulnerable. elderlies and kids. those are the most vulnerable groups and as we have to deal with elders check on your folks. make sure they have that daily point of contact, make sure they have some kind of pooling plan, not being pent up in what would be called almost like a heat

james comey. he had already recused himself and suddenly he is itself one apparently recommending to the president that comey be fired. the real question of the propriety of the attorney general participating in that in any way, shape or form. i want to know is it true what comey said, did you treat an atmosphere there that people believed you could not fairly render judgment on the president's interactions with comey. challenging president trump to testify under oath to coming as well. in addition to releasing any tapes of his conversations with comey. if there are tapes he alluded to the fact that there are tapes maybe as a threat or taunting comey he should make them public right away. if there aren't tapes he should let that be known. no more game playing. the head of the republican national committee, though, says there is no evidence of collusion between the trump campaign and the russians and she's calling for an end to those congressional investigations. time to put an end to this.

the first fill meaghan levy is based on a young marine corporal and their dog. they saved two. they are wounded by an ied. eventually meaghan levy wanted to adopt her dog recs. that's what the movie focusing on. it's a beautiful story. anybody can relate to that relationship between an animal and a person but also this idea of our amazing armed informs and i think the movie does a great job of balancing out this amazing drama, but you really care about all these characters involved and kate miranda a did a great job. i think the movie really does work. it's inspiring. it's beautiful, a couple of cool things, when the dofg was actually sniffing out bombs in the movie, in real life he was sniffing out treats and the actual dog using the film he was not a military dog. i give the movie a four out of five. the

number if i. this is going to include films like briefd fanning stein and frank stein and films like that. i think that tom crews is starting the whole idea. it's an ancient princess and she's number phid years and years ago and is basically trying to bring back. cruz does a great job with the action scenes in the film. the problem is the movie feels more like a theme park ride at times the script is very bad. there's bad die lorks but then you have these amazing action scenes. the problem is the best action scene is the playing scene which we already played in the trailer. i love vanilla sky, i love magnolia, i love the mission impossible films, but this one gets a 2.5 out of five i love the film. >> the news tonight far from on.
