more police action out here. people would feel more safe with more police action. it's not so much we've noticed a fair invasion, but what we have detected is the number of metro employees being assaulted. i don't feel like feel safe going into metro stations at all anymore. it was hot in the train, so it was not only the station. it was hot inside the train. a lot of commuter complaints from metro riders voicing their complaints. on days like this hot station. it's pretty brutal two stations, dupont circle and farragut north are not able to supply any cold air because there is a maintenance problem, but we understand they are working on it. matt ackland joins us what the tpo

what's the latest? >>reporter: sarah, it is hot outside, but for folks who are going to the dupont station behind me as they go down today, if they're looking forward to a little ac they're not going to get it. yeah, there is a big plan finally we've been telling you for years now about the issue here, but there is a plan to put a chiller truck out in front of connecticut avenue and that will supply two stations. here is what it lookses like. take a look for yourself. it will feed both stations with cool air and that a could be coming soon. all right. also, earlier today you may have heard about t this as you were heading to work. the be these disa station had to be closed down not because of the ac but because of the escalators and evaluations, well, they stopped work. it was too hot and that's why the official believe they needed to shutdown the metro station altogether. they didn't want people coming up a

that station just because it was so hot. they didn't want to put anybody's health in disainger. so it was closed down for about a half hour. good news coming to dupont and north farragut. jim, sarah. >> besides the heat obviously that's a huge issue. what is this new program it's called fair share? how does this whole thing work? >> it's pretty simple to tell you the truth and it's underway it's at gallery place and forth to the em. the way that it works is you know that those gates right next to where the station manager sits? well, there's a gait that swings open and closed. people can get through those preet sti easily. let's show you those. we've went down to give you an idea of what they look like. they're typically used for folks who have wheelchairs or big luggage now this new program is basically securing those. metro

we have some video of this they basically showed off the progress of this program. you can see through the video that some people in the beginning of the video are able just to go through easily, but then once the program began they shot video at the same station, the forth to then station and folks aren't able to get through because there's a magnetic connector. also there is a bit of a siren sounds if people go through. only two station at this point, but metro officials say it's working well. fair evasion is a huge problem. it cost the system a lot of money each year. they're really trying to crack down on it. they believe they'll put this in place in the future. once again here on the heat issue, the good news tonight guys is that officials are hoping that they'll have this huge chiller truck. they've got a place on connecticut avenue for it to park. it could be in place by the end of

be like the ac that that you have at home or in your car but it will cool things down quite a bit. so a lot of people who use these stations are keeping their fingers crossed that it will happen sooner rather than later back to you guys in the studio. all right, matt, thanks. fox5 four prince william county, it almosts looks like a scene from animal king disom. a bear about 20 miles away near a golf course, this morning the bear was seen wandering around the heritage community. at last check the bear may still be out there somewhere. kristin is out with more on this particular sighting. what's the latest here? >>reporter: we actually today tried to go looking for this bear. unfortunately we didn't find it. come to think about it, kind of glad we didn't otherwise i probably would have bolted out of way. i do want to show you

bear that's trending on social media. everyone in the neighborhood is talking about it. check it out right now. that's the bear that is trending right now looking like one of the beat ticketed eventses crossing and i roasmed you can see how big it is on all fours. can you imagine how it is on its hind legislation. we're told by neighbors that the bear may have come from conway robinson state forest which isn't too far away from the golf course it actually sits adjacent to the golf course. that's what neighbors were telling us that they believe the bear was coming from that area. one neighbor she told us not only giving us some insight about bear sittings, she was saying this isn't rare this time of year. these are black bears and the black bears you don't have to worry as much about. they're just looking for food. if you corner them or something i'm sure they're going

honest with you my husband and i are photographers and i want to get my camera and going out and looking around. she is too cute. some tips to keep in mind here if you do end up spotting a bear in your community. one of the things is you do not want to runaway from the bear. instead you want to stand fall, assert yourself as the human being and you want to slowly put your hands up in the air. again, not startling or threatening the bear. also another tip to keep in mind if you want to slowly walk away from the bare if you see one, you want to walk from side to side, not trying to start l or threaten that bear from coming toshed you. again, a couple tips to keep in mind. obviously a very scary encounter for people out there today. but i'm told that bear is still roaming around out there. as far as the sitting, the animal sitting in bistro we're told that that bear hasn't been identified but just a couple of days ago june 9 they did report seeing a mountain

temperature in d.c. and we are giving you the mid atlantic view because we want you to see all the different temperatures. it's 90 in d.c. but we're not alone with the big bermuda high all over the place. that is going to continue for the rest of this evening. although also some good news as we look toward tomorrow we're going to get some cooling thunderstorms in here and that will give us a little bit of a break-in the temperature department. humidity will be staying high tonight and it as we look at our local temperatures you can see that we're all pretty much in the same boat at this point and we're also going to continue to see that heat index which is a combination of the temperature and the humidity making it feel like it's in the upper 90s around the area. not heat advisory. we do have a d.c. heat emergency, but the national weather service puts a heat advisory up if the heat index is over 105 or at 105. didn't quite get there kea but it is certainly the type of thing that you need to take seriously on a day like this. here is your evening planner and you'll see we'll slowly

passages and excerpts from his depositions in 2005 and 2006. in it cosby admits giving constant three friends and he later told police the friends were pills and the pills were benadryl. and they wanted to know without her knowledge in one of the charges meant but the judge said he couldn't define it for them. we have mr. cosby's own admission that he provided three pills, that she didn't consent, that he found andrea constant to be truthful and that he digitally penetrated and groped her breasts after she had taken those pills. so the only issue in this case is consent. >> and after today's deliberations cosby spokesman addressed the media reading an account who says she was a foarm friend of andrea con stand. i did

was saying really happened. her response was that it had not happened, but she koo say it happened and file charges, file a civil suit, get the money, go to school and open up a business. and descre a and i never discussed the matter again. it was about a year later that and dre a left temp and then i learned that she went to the authorities and claimed that billion cosby had drugged and sexually assaulted her. i wasn't shocked since what is exactly and dre a said she could do. the defense tried to have the witness marguerite jackson called as a witness but judge o'neill shut that effort down as hearsay. if convicted cosby faces up to 30 years in prison. coming up a murder investigation in fairfax county has gone cold an elderly man was shot to desginate last year. police don't have a motive in this. the victim's family is stunned.

>> new information in that mysterious death of johan dangerous deliveries larry. the man was shot to death inside his home last year. detectives are still searching for a us s pect and a motive. both of elusive. fox5's paul wagner with tonight's rewind to the crime. when johan delaney was shot and killed in his home last year he was watching television in his living room. it was just after one in the morning an was facing away from the

out on a deck in the the back of his house. we believe someone had approached in this general vicinity possibly on his deck and using some kind of firearm firing into the window and killing mr. delaney. apparently he had his back to the window so he may not have known what had ever hit. >> johan delaney was inside, i'm not necessarily sure he was sitting. it is possible he could have seen someone outside, it's possible he he didn't. we may never know that. the gunfire was loud. two rapid fire bursts heard by numerous witnesses living by the home along the river, itself gunman escaping into the night. in the minutes that followed no one reported seeing any boats on the river or even anyone running from the scene. those perplexing loomed large especially in the days to come. the motive is obviously the biggest thing we start to look into. it's very difficul when you're dealing with someone who has been retired for to

his backyard and is also involved in the community. if the police were mystified, johan's family was stunned beyond belief. that's an understatement. we are shocked this is surreal. we don't understand. we don't have any idea who or why anyone would want to do this to johan. in only the second interview granted by the family, sues i delaney says her father-in-law had no enemies and his vicious murder has left them frightened and confused. that's why she woud only agree to a telephone interview. and we really thought about it with guidance present the police. they're really having us dig into our memory to see if there is anything anywhere that we could remember, but nothing. in a year, nothing. i speak to his wife just to see if she has missed anything. she's done things like go through notebooks, computers

we've gone through those things to see if there is any kind of issue or contact he may have had with somebody and as of right now it appears nothing is there johan delaney was the father of four and the grandfather of ate who had been retired from the world bank for 20 years. he was like no other, he really was and you knew that from the moment you met him. he was so kind. he was wise and knowledgeable. sues i delaney remembers her father-in-law as a tremendous listener who always offered sound advice. he was so generous both with his time and with his home, but most of all johan really loved his family. i'm less than a mile away from where mr. delaney was murdered down on river drive and it's here on maladder that police got a major clue. two witnesses reported hearing a vehicle turn the corner here and travel at a high rate of speed down this straight away. one witness only heard the vehicle, but the second witness actually looked out a window and described

seeing a large dark colored pickup truck with its lights off. detectives now believe witnesses heard that truck six to ten minutes after the first call for help from the house. i do believe that vehicle may have been involved in this. >> as detective vicary and his partner have investigated the case non stop forth last year, they have taken a closer look at one of johan delaney's passings getting a bike trail built along \begun\gun ston road. that was kind of his community effort to have that trail put in. the trail is now currently under construction. so maybe that might having on to do with this case. we're not sure. detectives are also looking at all cellphone numbers that were pinking off nearby towers in the week before the killing when someone may have cased the house. they are also looking at the numbers coming from the same towers the night of the murder. basically it allows us to see the cellphones that were used in this area at that time

that day and a maybe a day before and that allows us to see if maybe somebody was out here that we need to investigator speak to. now with a year gone by and those suspectses who were a motive inside, the delaneys are hoping some new attention will generate fresh leads. we really need that particularly, johan's wife she really needs to have closure on this. we need to understand why. it won't bring him back, but we need to understand why. >> because it's such a mystery. it's such a mystery and it's something that is beyond our comprehension. >> on friday, june 9, johan delaney would have turned 85 years old. >> with fox5's rewind to the crime, i'm paul wagner.

top stories at five:30, police investigating a murder in the district, someone shot and killed jason dale just before ten last night in the 500 block of park land place southeast. so far no arrests. an united police arrested a man who they say was firing shots behind a row of townhomes in annapolis. investigators arrested paul peterson after receiving records fired in the 1200 block of stone wood court. when officers got there they found peterson armed with a handgun and a shotgun with armed cases around him. a go fund me page set up for the kids who lost their parents in what believe call was a murder suicide. investigators say she had been arguing with her ex-husband ralph who later shot and killed himself. they had two kids today. sabrina had a ch

with the very latest on primary day. ronica. >>reporter: hey, jim and sarah, well if they didn't know it was not because of a lack of effort on my part. you know, primary elections they notorious have low voter turnout. today's numbers and estimates that are coming into us they seem pretty standard for what we might expect. take a look at this footage from here in falls church. i was from about 3:00 this afternoon. you don't need any estimates to tell you that there's nobody there. it's been a slow trickle. one person here, one person there coming in and out of this polling location. if we look at some estimates from the area here in fairfax county as of 2 p.m. estimates of democrats voting, about 6 percent republicans, two and a half percent, alexandria as of 4 p.m. the estimates put democrats at 13 percent and republicans at just 3 percent. and then out of arlington they don't break it down by party, but the estimates as of 2 p.m.

tomorrow, much more widespread. that will break the heat. temperatures return to normal by thursday, but we do look unsettled through the weekend really. i don't think we're going to get the nice bright sunny weather until next tuesday actually. temperatures outside 90234 washington, l one in yaps last, the five in frederick, 94 in hagerstown, really hot weather right along the pennsylvania/maryland border. humidity was higher today and that means the heat index was more of a factor. it felt more like upper 930s to triple digits outside and it still does at this hour. feeling like 100 in quantico, 99 in culpeper. haven't seen much thunderstorm activity around here. in case for the high pressure system keeping us descrie. there were a few thunderstorms around the charlottes area, but even those moving very slowly. you can see high pressure just suppressing all of the thunderstorm t activity along the mountains

along the new york pa border will bring us a mp better chance for thunderstorms. p if you are heading out to nats park, it is hot. just shy of 90-degrees shall it's very humid. i think we get in the game okay. tomorrow's four p.m. game that will be another story because we may be battling some thunderstorms which i'll show you right now. anything that comes through the area right now will be short lived and very stray, just a shower or tworks but i doubt we even see anything in d.c. a dry, quiet night, but very warm. thunderstorms along the front which will be just south of d.c. these will be slow movers. these have a lot of moisture associated with them and will bring a lot of heavy rain. the timeframe looks to be mid to late afternoon. severe threat is minimal and confined to areas towards our south. i think the biggest concern will be possible flash flooding if you're under the storms for too long. maybe some wind and hail and the
