more. two pick pockets putting their hands where they don't belong. i hope your cool dwea, the end is in site. i'll let you know what to expect on wednesday. fox5 local news at ten starts right now. we're going to begin tonight with breaking news, two drowngs and two near drownings as people tried to cool off. two of the incidents happened in montgomery county. fox5's marina maracco is live with the details and a warning from officials. >>reporter: for about 90 minutes, montgomery county fire and ems worked some extremely serious calls and just so you get a sense of where exactly those calls came from you'll see on the map itses was literally across the county knit, the first one mapping right at five at the howard county george reservoir. that is a confirmed drowning and then two near drownings one at six:15 in the white oak area of silver springs

6:30 tonight at potomac at a private residence. the calls rather all started here at the rocky george reservoir where a greuch of young adults were swimming. one man went under never came up. howard county rescue team was already in the water. they were running training exercises and they were alerted and assisted the crews in the search. the body then turned up about an hour after they initiated the search. i think it's just human nature that folks will assembly around water to cool off and all that, even more reason for all of us that are caregivers and providers to keep an eye on especially young children, but any time anyone is near water use extreme care and keep an eye out, especially young kids. and the calls continued here in montgomery county at about six:15 this evening in white oak a

at a community pool. he was spotted face down just under the water's surface by a lifeguard who began the life saving measures. crews arrived and then continued resuscitation efforts. the child was then transported to an area hospital in h critical condition and then 15 a minutes later another call, this one in potomac on coral drive, a woman in her early 20s at the bottom of l pool in cardiac arrest. in extremely critical condition. all three now under investigation. live tonight in montgomery county, marina maracco, fox5 local news. >> meanwhile residents of a capital hill neighborhood are stunned following the tragic loss of a two year old at a home-based daycare. the child apparently drowned in a pool. investigators are trying to find out what happened. teisha lewis is live with the

>>reporter: shawn and tony we just learned that first spoarnds arrived to this home a couple minutes after the call went out over dispatch. they tell me that when they arrived bystanders were performing cpr on this little l boy. that's when they immediately took over, performed cpr enroute to the hospital and then were told that the boy was pronounced dead at the hospital. neighbors say that this daycare inside this home over my left shoulder is highly sought off across the neighborhood, even so all it takes is a split second without supervision and less than two inches of water for a tragedy like this to happen. i've known the childcare provider for a very long time. i've known her daughter for over 30 years. we went to school together from elementary through high school and she's actually the childcare provider that i wanted to have myo he to care for my child when my daughter was first

can only imagine the disbelief for tiffany may and others in this capital hill east neighborhood when they heard a two year old boy died after an apparent drowning here. i think it's so sad. it's unfortunate incident that happened because she's such a good caregiver. she's very meticulous about what she does. she cares for the children as if they're her own which is why she comes highly recommended by those who know her in the neighborhood. the office of the state superintendent of education confirms this is a licensed child development home in the district. they are investigating the incident. and it's so uber driver fortunate for her as well as the parents of that child i mean because it's just not an easy thing to deal w. i'm shocked. i didn't expect that to happen. it should be -- this neighbor& didn't want to show his face on television because he saw police and investigators swarm the kiddie

in d.c., 77 in quantico, 730 at dulles and baltimore, even annapolis due point is 73. that means there's a tremendous amount of moisture in the air. it also affects the hay index temperature or how it feels to you and it feels like 93 in the district, 92 dwant could he, 92 yap larks 82 manassas, very steamy out there. the good news is today was the last of the really hot days in this particular heatwave. tomorrow we may still heat 930 but what is going to break it are the thunderstorms that we're expecting tomorrow afternoon any of which could have some pretty heavy rain with them and they'll be slow movers, too. we'll be on the lookout tomorrow afternoon for that. it's a frontal boundary up through pennsylvania. it will be another hot day, 80s to near 90 but when the front slides on through it will squeeze out a lot of moisture in the form of slow moving afternoon evening and thuntd storms. that will bring an end to this

hometown a shout jut. a look at kate did i's impact there. everybody in d.c., virginia, he's family and that's what we think of him. kd. we know kevin. it was almost like a sense of relief not only for me, but it was like a sense of relief knowing that all of the work that kevin has put in, all of the time and effort that he has put in, a sense of relieve, a sense of pride and a sense of joy. it's a sense of pride because everybody around here, we don't look at kevin as kd, we there at him as kevin. he's been around since he was eight, nine years old. everybody knows him. everybody feel as though he's family. it's an overall sense of pride and accomplishment. if a kid like kevin can do it, it's possible& anybody can do it. it wouldn't surprise

through these doors. >> after a the season is over and he has sometime, the scoreboards that he donated. the bleachers that we have here, he also refurbished our basketball court out back. the whole room dedicated to kevin. so he's done more than you can even imagine. the kids being able to see that is because they see him. you know they are used to seeing him. they've seen the work that kifn has put in. he's come down and work with these guys individually himself. like i said, them being able to see him almost saying i can do it because i know kevin. i seen the work he put in. if i can put in the work then i can accomplish the same goals. >> a loft people wanted to see him come home. he obviously didn't, but doesn't forget where he comes from. >> that's true. >> and he achieved the dream. >> somebod
