the frederick area, that also looks like it may be intensifying. so we have to watch all of these storms very closely, this afternoon, and evening, at 5:06 this will be near percentville, lowden county, 5:09 to hamilton, if it holds together it may be in the pools ville area, north edge, at 52:00; main concern, very heavy rain, gusts to 60 and the possibility of a bit of hail. we're remaining very hot as you well know with temperatures tomorrow also expected to be. >> we did get up to 92 degrees at this hour, notice how winchester so much cooler at 79. but when you factor in the humidity, it feels like it is anywhere from about 81 at win chester, to 100 at cambridge, so that heat and humidity supplying the fuel for these storms, we'll have close eye on radar throughout our next 90 minutes, if not longer than that, and let you know if any new warnings are issued.

sarah and jim. >> all right, new tonight, in the last two weeks, commanders on the scene of two major fires in the district have asked for critical help, have had to wait for it. >> in one case it took ten minute for the 191 center to dis patch the extra help. now the firefighters union is pointing fingers at the offers of unified communications. let's get you out to fox5, from peabody street in northwest, hi, paul. >> reporter: jim, sarah, where there was devastating fire back on june 24th. you may recall that there was a lot of video of rescues being made hereby firefighters on the scene. people who were attempt to go jump from the upper floors, the firefighters get to go them and down successfully. >> this was fatal fire, but what we were able to learn today, about this fire, has got the firefighters union very, very concerned. >> with a we now know after digging into this, listening to number of fire department

firefighters were on the scene for couple of hours, they needed extra help. they asked for third alarm to be sounded. now we listen back, we can confirm it, took as long as six minutes for that help to be dis patched. according to the firefighters union, that is absolutely unacceptable. that it should take no longer than 30, 40 seconds, to dispatch a third alarm. now, the other concern is fire that took place on u street on july 1st, just after midnight. it was a rooftop fire, a very difficult fire for firefighters to fight. they needed extra help. they sounded a second alarm, but after listening to these radio transmissions, we did get confirmation from not only the union but the offices of unified communications that it took ten minutes

fare evasion huge problem with metro, so much so, recently metro announced new program to try to fight it. >> now the dc council, measure would decriminalize it, making it a civil ticket, doing away with imprisonment if you evade those fares. mat at clinic live tonight one of the busiest stations, over at china towel -- chinatown, hey, (natural sounds). >> hi, jim, sarah, as it starts, if you evade paying fare here in d.c., virginia and maryland, you can be arrested and you -- cane put in jail overnight. but one council member, he has the support of many other, is basically proposing pulling back the part where you imprison someone and lowering the fine from

because we had a lot of clouds around this morning, they took a while to break, they broke pretty quickly this afternoon, and evening, now you see what's happening, jim, czar a we have severe storms that have fired up. we have now hit the low 90s it, didn't take long, once we were able to clear the clouds out, now we have a new supply of clouds, and we've had a severe under this earl storm warning around the winchester area. now there is was supposed to go until 5:15, i wonder if they will let it expire. but we'll watch to see if that little yellow box disappears. it certainly is still going strong in winchester area. and we are getting multiple reports of hail to the size of nickles out in that area. putting this in motion, putting storm track on, least berg, i still think this made be headed in your direction, might clip rockville here in the next little while, gaithersburg, be aware. tracking little hail core with it as we see with the trained spotters, report that hail, right around the winchester area. and as we put this in motion, it looks like our storm is moving east-southeast. so i would be watching toward western p

fire and killed him. a passenger of the van, 26 year old cheyenne out end, unharmed and taken into custody, faces burglary and theft charges. >> another violent day in prince george's county where gunman shot and wounded two men in forest ville. it happened on forest park drive during the early morning hours when officers got there one dead, the other wounded man taken to the hospital for treatment. so far no one is in custody. >> murder this morning is the 121st in the count any less than two weeks, that in turn has prompted the police chief to act. earlier today, he announced offers letters have to start working 12 hour shift, to combat that violence. previously had been working eight hour shifts. >> we're not being reactive, being pro-active. we want our community to know that we are taking this seriously, this is priority for us, so we will put more police officers on the street. but this is definitely going to require the support of the community. >> it is unclear how long the officers will stay on these 12 hour shifts. we reach out to the fraternal orders of police, spokesman told

calf has had trouble eating. the giraffe received a plasma transfusion two days ago along with antibiotics and fluid, when the giraffe was first born it, tried to nurse, but vets at the zoo say the calf was not receiving the necessary anti bod toys fight infection. so, zoo handlers tried bottle feeding him. but that has not worked either. and the calf has lost weight. >> keep an eye on that one for you for sure. >> finally tonight, the alexandria limb league all-star team punched its ticket to the southeast regional finals in north carolina they won the district tournament in june. team of 12 and 13 year old boys went undefeated to win the state tournament. the first time from l alexandria to win to move on to the southeast regionals next friday. big congrats to all of them. >> yes, go boys. >> yep. by the way this camera is moving around a little bit. a look at marlins park, allegedly, yes, there it is, that's where the all-star game is tonight. and a lot of excitement about that. you can watch it here on fox5 starting at 8:00. >> thanks for being with us here

severe storm, that we've been tracking since the winchester area, and now, we do have new warnings that will go until 6:30. soy, let me show you the map. you can see the yellow area that's outlining the region that has the severe thunderstorm warning, clark county, lowden, will go in the 6:30. this storm has been slow to weaken although i just so portion of it get trimmed out just now, and getting continuing to get storm reports of trees down, in the winchester area, and now, along salem church road, according to the national weather service. here is the storm, the loaded with lightening, it may have gusts to 60, which is capable every taking down trees and limbs, moving south eats, at about 20 miles an hour, and you'll get some very heavy rain as this comes on through, and potentially, little bit of hail, we've had hail to report to the size every nickles in the winchester area. so 6:00 for sterling, 6:05 for rest continue, rockville, maybe in your neighborhood around 6:11, to dc, 18:00, and 6:20 for alex andre a see our hail
