9:03. following breaking news in northern virginia police remain the scene of an officer involved shooting. >> we're told that officer who opened fire was injured in the ordeal. bob barnard is live on the scene with the latest now. we hope his injuries -- his or her aren't too extensive, bob. >> reporter: >> yeah. we don't believe that she was badly hurt here. she was not shot. she fired her weapon apparently. nobody was hit. but was hurt in this struggle. let's show where you we are. this is st. asaph's street at the intersection with king street right here in the heart of old town. three blocks, two blocks of st. asaph and one lock of king street right in front of the courthouse that are closed. you might -- i don't know if you can see there are a number of evidence markers in the street there. we're not sure how many fights fired. at least one. courthouse remains open. you can see they're taking pictures of the evidence markers there. we're not sure if those bullet we understand is, nothing fi

just talking to police officers here on the scene, we believe it was a female police officer who around 7:00 o'clock this morning had a confrontation one person described this person as a homeless man here on the street, and somehow they got into a physical altercation. she was hurt apparently fired her weapon. nobody was struck. but that person that she was struggling with was taken into custody, and she was taken to the hospital. apparently, injured not by the gunshot but by the physical confrontation here this morning. we understand the alexandria city police chief is at the hospital. that deputy chief has been at the hospital and is on his way here to give us the official update. because officially we're not being told anything about the officer, except an neck totally, guys, fellow officers are saying it was one of their female officers. so what you're loo looking at le right here king street in the middle of your screen

intersects with st. asaph right here in the heart of old town alexandria where this police shooting and subsequent investigation continues to cause some traffic issues here this morning. guys? >> bob, thank you very much. heading to prince george's county now, it's police patrol officers are now working 12-hour shifts. that's an order coming straight from the chief trying to fight a recent spike in violent crime i& the county. but the chief says most of the violence stems from on-going arguments between groups of people, and there is typically no threat to the larger public. there have been 12 homicides in prince george's county in the first 12 days of july. want to stay in prince george's county. hi hyattsville family is without a home this morning after a fire ripped through their home overnight. >> two people inside the home were not hurt thanks to the quick thinking of one of them. melanie alnwick live at the scene with the latest where a house appears to be toll loss. mel? >> reporter: good morning, guys. yeah, just a really tough morning for this couple here that lives in the house in the 7600 block of

you can see here really just a skeletal structure left of this& house. pretty incredible how quickly it went up. one of the firefighters who was here on the scene early gave me a picture of what it looked like when they first got on the scene and this was really just about four minutes after the first 911 call came in and you can see how that roof there completely covered in flames. homeowner said it just seemed like it went up so quickly. they were alerted to this because the man who lives here was getting for work and start totter hear some popping noises and smelling smoke and then the smoke detector started going off. that's when he knew he had to get himself and his girl friend out of the house. she has some mobility issues so really they were just struggling to get out the door much he were they were not able to bring anything with them. there was no time to grab anything except themselves and get themselves out. several fire crews arrived here to help

they then had to knock down a number of hot spots. there was a tough situation at one point because the electric meter had come separated from the house and there was concern from the part of incident command that that could mean there was some life electricity in the back part of the house, but fortunately, 91 of the firefighters were able -- were in danger from that. in firefighters injured in battling this blaze either. but again that message from prince george's county fire department that smoke detectors do save lives. and it certainly did so in this case this morning. even though they're still without really any belongings, any house that they can go into. they're fortunate they still have each other this morning. live in hyattsville, melanie alnwick, fox5 local news. >> really a positive spin on the story. >> thanks, mel appreciate i the other big story of the morning donald trump, jr., defending himself from accusations that he colluded with russia during the 2016 presidential election. last nig

more that just got me more enthusiastic and more energized when people try the food. how did you make this at home. >> wait what i make next week. >> we go from comfort foods like pizza everybody loves and dive into two things like savey chi people are like i don't know about it i don't really know what it is. >> exactly. let's do sacicci. >> you want fresh fish. typically done with white fish here i a have nice fresh cod. how do you define it to somebody who says i've her the name but i don't know what it is. >> the misconception it's not cooked or it's like raw fish. that's not the case at all. it means fish that's cooked under some type of acid. >> it's not cooked under heat. >> exactly. acid cooks it perfectly well and keeps that tenderness and flavor which is the best part. >> you're a home chef. show us had he we can do it at home. here's white cod i have. i cut it up in small chunks which is the great thing. put it in a bowl. and then you just add some type of acid here i have bin nation of lime and lemon. so the ratios don't matter up to your taste. you

all you have to do is just let them sit and marinate. since we don't have that much time it usually takes ten minutes or so. >> that's it. >> that's it. >> leaving it lime and lemon juice for ten minutes. >> exactly. different parts of the world they leave it for two minutes, three minutes. ten minutes is a good idea the longer it stays in there it does what to the flavor. >> it degrade the texture of the fish. it will cook it more and more you want that bite in the fish. >> let's fast forward now we have something that you work on. fast forward the same fish that's kind of marinating for about ten minutes now you can see the color kind of changed. that means it's really cooked. from here it's the best part. you go like in assembly line first thing i like to add are onions. i take red onions and i keep them in cold water to make them nice and crisp so you get that bite. >> nice tip there. >> , ask ally. slice them finely. if you have a man dough lynn use that. >> exactly. keep going. >> then the neck let's take mangos. i'll add some freshman goes in here. >> get a little fruit hmm in there. >> i want some fruit
