in a lurch. one of the largest manufacturers and retailer of bridal gowns shuts down. now many in the area are left wonder ing what to do. the news at ten starts right now. new tonight, a d.c. police sergeant is facing disturbing allegations of miss misconduct. thanks for joining us tonight, i'm shawn yancy and i'm tony perkins. that offerser is responsible for police recruitment. but accord ing to an internal investigation he was recruiting for more than just the accident fox5's marina maracco joins us now with the exclusive details. marina. >>reporter: and since december mpd's internal affairs investigation has been investigating this sergeant. back in april investigatorses recommended that the sergeant be terminated from the department, but sources say the sergeant remains on payroll and he's still working right here at mpd 's second district although he's to have no contact with the public and his police powers

ed with lies, at least that's how investigators first described their interactions with sergeant jonathan clinger man, a 17 year old scret ran of the metropolitan police department. he's with a salary of more than 90 thowvmentd he's tasked with supervising recruit and outreach of mpd prospects as young as 17 years old. accord ing to this investigative report finalized by mpd's i'm ternl affairseses division. he was doing far more than just recruiting for the department. he was also recruiting and encouraging cadets and recruits to participate in sex parties. an anonymous letter sent to internal affairs in december of 2016 prompted investigators to zero in on the alleged illicit activities happening here at the police acontacted mivment department sources provided fox5 these documents which showed t

unknown dates and by his own admission while on duty engaged in sexual relations while at the metropolitan police acontacted mivment investigators ceased the department's cellphone allegations after was running an invite only sex party website, via the mpd issued phone. the department's cellphone had been used to store, schedule, arrange and distribute information for these sex parties. some of the pornographic images on the department phone of both the sergeant and others are so graphic that thive report was manually redacted to prevent further dissemination of explicit photographs. amongst the most damning of the charges, sergeant clinger man's admission that on multiple occasions he had sex with an mpd cadet while on duty at the police acatted contacted my. >> and tonight we've reached out to sergeant jonathan clinger man

a. he told fox5 via toll phone that his lawyers have advised him not to comment on the investigation. we also reached out to the d.c. police union chairman as well as vice chairman repeatedly throughout the day. we have yet to hear back. live tonight in northwest , marina maracco, fox5 local news. >> thank you, marina. we also reached out to the d.c. police department for a responsible. they sent us a statement that says the metropolitan police department's internal affairs division has investigated disturbing allegations of improper conduct involving a member formerly detailed at the police academy. during the investigation, the member was placed in a non-contact status. the investigation into the allegations has been submitted to the disciplinary review division. there was no indication of criminal conduct pending the recommendation of the disciplinary review division mpd will take appropriate disciplinary action. >> we are also following some breaking news right now in arlington, a metro train hit a person at the virginia square gm u metro station tonight. there's no word

force after the violence that was caught on camera. newly re lease surveillance video shows a shootout between two men, one of them appears to be holding the hand of a child before pulling a gun. you can see the flashes as shots are fired. some rig shaiing off the fence. this was monday just before 9 p.m. baby jeremiah was outside his home and a hit twice by bullets. miraculously he survived and is already out of the hospital just a few days later. i was shocked. how did this happen? how do we have babies around weapons? >> i don't get it. i list cahill lives nearby and can't believe there was a gun fight in front of children a few yards from her home. what's going on, i don't understand what's going on in people's mind. you have children around. you have other people around and you bring out a gun and go at each other. police were back in northeast canvassing the area around i and

the first place? >>reporter: she's basically being accused of urinating in the back of that uber. she of course says that that is not true. she's a kindergarten teacher. she was taking the uber home with grocery groceries at 6 p.m. but she sure did get the billion from uber for $150, plus the ride. uber said it was a cleaning fee from bodily fluids she left behind on the ride. crystal parker says she didn't spill anything and she definitely didn't urinate in the car. the driver, even attached pictures of the alleged stains in his complaint to uber and it seems uber takes the driver's word. parker showed us a series of messages between her and uber customer service. she had to get her bank to put a stop payment on the charge and says uber told her basically they don't believe her. i was like that's absurd because one, i wasn't even sitting behind the driver where the spill was and two, i didn't urinate on myself i tried to reason with the

saying i understand how you must be feeling. and i'm like no, you don't because if you didn't you wouldn't believe this driver . it doesn't make any sense. and in a statement uber told us cleaning fees compensate drivers forth cost of cleaning up a mess made by a rider which includes lost time on the road. drivers must submit a clear photo of the mess shortly after the ride. claims are verified using a variety of methods, end quote. i asked them about those verification methods and they wouldn't elaborate on what those are. so to protect yourself it seems like a burden, but you might want to take photos before and after the ride. uber says there was a similar case in orlando and they admitted to me that that rider was mistakenning ly charged. if you prove you might be able to fight against it. >> evan, thank you very much. again we're glood to have you here

a food and drug advisory panel is throwing support before the first us jean therapy made to treat a certain type of leukemia . the panel wants the fda to approve the drug for patients between three and 25 years old. it will give those who had few options a completely different life. opposed to most pills or chem chemotherapies that we use to treat patients this medicine stays in for you for months or maybe even years and could continue to fight leukemia if it were to return. the fda expressed concerns that the new drug could have more risks. they felt the risks were low. >> this is the first study to show that sustained diet changes , even there was also a similar dip in the risk of dying from heart disease or stroke, the team says the change can happen just by swapping out
