the president will try to keep focus on his agenda. now he will be holding an event this afternoon highlighting and celebrating american made products. meanwhile, another headache for the president is health care reform. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell delayed a vote on that bill while senator john mccain recovers from surgery. now, this comes at the same time that the congressional budget office says it will not release its analysis on the latest gop bill today. as originally planned. >> the white house is also dealing still with the fallout from that russia investigation. and the admission donald trump, jr., met with russian lawyer who promised dirt on hillary cli clinton. >> but as wisdom just mentioned president trump pledged to move forward on his agenda. >> president trump arriving at andrews air base wearing his make america great again hat but walking down these stairs he surely aware of what he's fa facing. on twitter he had confidently written, "head, back to washgt

more that everybody is going to discover that it keeps the fundamental flaw of obamacare. >> but on the other hand, proponents of the gop health care plan think that this may actually give them more time to sell this to reluctant senators. ♪ new this morning here at home two violent incidents in the district overnight. first a man shot just before midnight in the 900 block of debt street northeast. 1:00 a.m. in the 1500 block of good hope road southeast. both victims non-life threatening injuries. right now, no word on suspects in either case. we have a fox5 follow up in prince george's county over accusations that teachers were padding grades in the school system to have a higher graduation rate. >> the allegations are very serious. and it's prompting an investigation but overnight we're learning more about why a member of the prince george's county school board resigned last month. our melanie alnwick live outside the school board headquarters this morning in upper marlboro with the

mel? >> reporter: good morning. we have that and new information about that investigation that is soon to begin under the pressing of the maryland state board of education. wee get to in in just a moment. really this has been very contentious year in prince george's county public schools and dr. beverly anderson who resigned, said that it's resulted in unhappy students, angry parents and in her words apathetic teachers. unless her resignation she call the board of education dysfunctional. now she's one of four appointed school board members and the only one who didn't take a public position after four board members alleged white spread fraud and grade fixing, the other nine called the claims of the first four appalling. now in her resignation letter dr. anderson said there's no coherent educational plan, no thoughtful budget to support the needs of low-performly students and not enough independence for the board to make decisions. she writes further that the board is dez functional too many memb

conflicts of interest. she spoke about the many controversies at her final board meeting in june. >> in my mind, sometimes it takes the storm before the calm, and once we get that calm, we can start moving in the direction to ensure that all students are given a quality education. >> reporter: now the maryland state board of education is in the process of hiring an independent auditor to look into those allegations made by those four board members. i can tell you that they put out the bid for propose ales last week. thrthey're asking for the audito begin august 7th and conclude by august 31st. they want it to cover every single high school in the co county. looking at the processes and what the procedures are and the standards for graduation. also, the interviews. we know that in p

teams from more than 160 countries are in the nation's capitol to face off. >> all girls team from afghanistan has so far grabbed all the headlines because they nearly didn't get here. a denied visa drama that came along with it finally settled by the president and his team. that's now behind them and they are right now puck putting their skills to the test at dar constitution hall. bob barnard is there as well to give us the story. bob, good morning. >> reporter: hey, guys. good morning. there they are. they just won the young ladies with the whitehead dresses they're being hand their robot which just beat another international team here this is two-day competition robotics competition the first of its kind really robotics olympic. there are 160 teams here, 150 some some odd nations an couple of joint teams much this is the team of the afghani girls who needed a special visa waiver from the president of the united states to get here, and they're here now. it's all girls

and they're surrounded by young people from all over the cou country. young people from who have an interest in science and technology. who are being encouraged to pursue careers in science and math, and they are here for this as i mentioned to-day robotics competition. the afghani steam we can show you video trip from last night the first to come into the arena at dar constitution hall in the opening ceremonies. a very trying time for them to get here. twice the girls were driven 550e capital of afghanistan to try to get their visas to come here, and twice they were denied. and had to make that trek all the way back to their hometown. well, as i mentioned president trump stepped in got them their visas they are here and they are very happy about that. >> translator: even if the first and second time our visa got denied we were super disappointed and super

we still send our robot to us and we hope we will win prize in here but still we are going through it again. >> reporter: and so again a lot of young, smart people here who are inspired to do good because the theme of the competition today is to try to get pottiable water to people who need it, and that's kind of the theme of the competition -- if you come back live you see them leaving here with their robot. three members of this team and there were others right behind us here cheering them on, and they'll be back for another round later, guys, but very interesting way to inspire, help inspire young people to pursue their dreams in science and technology and math and also to get them thinking about how to get pottiable water to people who don't have it as easily as people around the globe. if you see the balls they're putting here the plastic balls they're putting

>> we use the summer tomatoes and make a little tomato bacon jam sort of the garnish on top i can get a little bit of that flavor, that my bacon flavor in my healthy seafood dish. >> bacon compliments scallops so well. >> the old bacon wrapped scallops this is going a little fancier. a little fancier. but it's sort of what we like to do and trying to put some of these ingredients that sort of taste really good. really all we've done here, this dish is easy, um, you know, it's just some cut up tomatoes, garlic, shall lots, um, we put a little cidar vinegar in there and a little bit of sugar. >> the aroma is ridiculous. >> cook it all down. we start it off with a bacon right there. >> good quality bacon. >> none of this cheap thin sliced stuff you find in the supermarket. you go -- >> you're talking about benton's bacon that is really good stuff. >> like no other. with scallops we were talking about his during the

break they are caramelized and seared so perfectly. that's a common mistake chefs at home make this. >> we call this golden brown and delish. with scallops you got to get dry pack scallops can't use the wet packed scallops. >> that's a good tip. >> yes. because the wet pack they should have a punch of water and chemicals in there. >> they look gross when you try to zear. >> you're paying for all that liquid it comes running out and then it sorts of boils the scallops. >> good quality scallops. >> don't cook them too much. a couple minutes on every time. high heat cast iron skillet or non-stick pan as well. >> get that heat up there first. >> we can plate all this stuff up. >> that sounds great. i'd love to try it. it looks so good. i joke around in the resta restaurants. intense battle between kale and bacon. >> right. >> it's sort of a joke with me. we like to put it altogether. so sort of works really nice. >> healthy and favor and okay i did not know this but you sai
