>> reporter: good morning to all of you. yeah. i mean holly, it was definitely an unsettling moment in that neighborhood even as early as 5:00 a.m. some neighbors were walking by kind of wondering what is going on because it's a really quite residential area. this is the 1600 block of belvedere boulevard and police at this hour still tell us they're searching for the gunman unable to provide a suspect description, and they also don't know how or what exactly happened. they tell us that around 10:00 o'clock last night they received a 911 call from someone inside the house, and they reported that a suspect entered the home and shot the victim. the victim a 21-year-old man and then just left the scene. so that is basically what we know at this time. and so police were out there for about seven hours or so processing the scene we saw them focusing in on the upper level that is where the victim was found lying with gunshot wounds. we know that the victim was also taken to a hospital. that is where he passed away, but they haven't

you knew about his addiction and his level of his addiction that it would end this way? >> absolutely. i mean, you know, as being in long-term recovery, i mean -- this event is not just about my brother. i was talking to gentleman the other day who lost 33 people over past few years. i mean this is an epidemic that is affecting everyone, and um, you know, so that is a reality that anyone that suffers from this, you know, could potentially die if they go back out and why we're on the front lines. that's why we're on the war path to bring as many avenues as possible together, for one common goal to help others who do struggle. so a lot of those resources will be out here this weekend, and, um, you know, as far as talking to my brother, yeah, i did. being someone in long-term recovery, i did on consistent basis, and there's nothing that i could do. i'm not that powerful. that's why, you know, brought up prayer a little earlier was that,

very very different role for him, and he's brilliant in it as well. >> let's get into the lifetime movie just a little bit. so the father even after this young teenager at the time has this traumatic experience of this sex tape being released oh and social media for the world to see really and her community, she still has trouble because her family just can't let it go. the father can't really look at her in the same way any more. this story i'm sure speaks to many people on different platforms but who were you hoping really sees it s just the young girl or boy here or is it also adults involved with,, when incidents just go public? i really think -- yes, i would love for adults to see it as well. i think everyone is well represented in this story, and everyone -- everyone has something that they immediate to hear here. i think they will see themselves in this movie. i think that parents need to understand

sexual will the. how kids grapple with social media. how girls grapple with not being a prude or slut and the pressures that they're under. i think that kids need to understand how hard it is for parents because we all don't really know what we're doing. we're just kind of hoping that we're making the right choices, you know. and how hard it is, also, i think, you know, it really -- you really are a by product of your up bringing and we really get to see that the father had a real struggle with his father, and, you know, so we get to see that we're all struggling with something and if we can understand each other just a little bit more and make a space to have conversation about how we're feeling, even around this hard -- these hard issues, the healing can begin and the forgiveness of self and the forgiveness of others and the coming together of a family can begin. if you don't talk about stuff, you're lost, and i think one of the great things about art sometimes it can -- it can promote conversation and i'm

watch this together and it will promote conversations within the family because there's so much juicy stuff here to talk about. it's also a great movie. you know, it's very moving. it's funny. and it's sad. it's all those thing. >> i just have to ask we only about 30 seconds left. but, you know, this deals with basically a sex tape that's l leak. the girl is 13 when this happened. even often in my own life, i say don't worry about what somebody says about you online or on instagram or snap chat or whatever. what is the message that people watching can take if they have been cyber bullied or if their private information gets out? what do you say to those young people? >> here's what i think. i think that, you know, if we can tell our children, talk to them about privacy and about, you know, how to take care of themselves and keep themselves safe, that's one thing but we can also say to them, you know, if a mistake happens or you make a mistake, just because you made mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake. and that is such an important thing
