island. i can tell you dozens of homes throughout the bay city neighborhood and stevensville were torn apart as that violent weather blew through early monday morning. many residents were asleep waking up disoriented and some finding out they have nothing left. stroj winds pushed this home clear off the foundation and just down the street another home where 83-year-old man's roof was found several feet away after ripped off the house. electricity was also knocked out to most of the island as many power lines were bent in half and lieutenant governor boyd rutherford came here and toured the hardest hit areas and told residents they had help. take a listen. >> i was scared to death. i know he is elderly gentleman living loan. so i wanted to make sure she was okay. >> it was a really nasty storm. and did a lot of damage. i have no standing trees left the house is undamaged we're good the fam

none of our area was. we were not outlooked for severe weather let alone tornadoes. any time you have strong storms there's chance of isolated tornado within the thunderstorm and this time last night it was confirmed. what happened was the cell formed kind of over d.c. shortly after 11 p.m. and picked up strength as it moved east ward and over the bay which can really toad rot rotation. just that storm moving over the ay. as a result f 2 tornado confirmed in the bay city stevensville area last night it was only on the ground 4 minute, 1:29 to 1:33. peak winds 125 miles an hour that's a strong storm and tornado. that contact cause major damage as did with one injury and widespread damage to homes and trees and widespread power outages we continue to report on. i want to show you the path of this storm going back to ra radar. this is just at 12:30 late last night in annapolis and overhead annapolis the storm in that ar

anne arrundel county. lots of lightning and wind damage it saext that cut across the bay and spin up a storm right behind -- tornado on the underside of the storm behind. it and this is not uncommon with storms across the bay. there it is 2 a.m. already moved outp queen anne county there was a warping issued under their jurisdiction. it was only a couple minute before. once again confirmed in south stevensville by statey area 1:29 a.m. touchdown it was only reported tornado of the night. now i want to get back to local radar where we have storms popping right now, thunlder showers over the district even no, i looks like severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of fairfax down they and parts of the district. that's for the cell you see there. it's moving east ward across 395 into the city itself and let me put a warningthon because they just issued it as we were coming on the air at 5. until 5:45.

>> hey, guys, listen we're right in the path of where this ef tornado was not far from where anjali was earlier. this little complex is it called ellendale. it took a direct hit. a couple things that stood out here next to me is the rooftops from the town homes. and there's two or three rooftops from this section of town homes that were lifted with the tornado and dropped down into basically the back alley behind the town homes. there were several decks along the backs of these town homes too of which this one right here flew some 50 to 60 yards over there and they've come in this afternoon and they're back there starting to clean everything up. notice one deck is on the top of car here. so, you know, the destruction is sirily lynch flat this tornado. right up here jeany she lost her daek and found it 50 y

door neighbor lost her roof. they were not home they were on vacation. good for them. the other one, steve, you can go to the left right there with a pipe hanging out. that family was home. they react in time to get to safety. their bade they could not get to their baby. their baby was leap sleeping in the crib. thank goodness their baby was okay. there was no harm done and the amazing thing from all this damage is that so far, what we know and we've talked to meanttive residents out here most already have gone out and gotten out of here, they are all okay. there was nobody injured here as this tornado came through. and it's just really this specific place right here where all the damage was. and steve, can you see -- i know i'm tying up a little bit there's a couple of air conditioning units here lifted from their foundation right other and toppled into the garage. they're extremely heavy. don't know if you ever had to pick one up. th

piece and easily toppled. we're seeing lots of evidence of things like that. rooftops blown everywhere and two by fours right through town homes, shattered glass everywhere and even where they have not built new homes well back over behind my shoulder there's a lot of construction equipment out there and construction equipment windows are shattered as flying debris was comeing across. it's not far from the bay. just over there. ef 2 tornado, 110 to ruchly 160 mile an hour winds easily caused this kind of damage. again guys coming back to you in the studio one thing to take away nobody that we know of was injured and all residents have talked to everybody. nobody is claiming to be injured. and ironically enough it's a cliche but for a reason. a couple of residents did say it sounded exactly like a freight train as it came on too

restaurant in sterling than first reported. loudoun county health department tells us 135 people reported feeling sick after visiting the restaurant on triple 7 road and customers were at the place between july 13 and 16 we're told two people tested positive for the norovirus and health officials believed the norovirus is blamed for the outbreak. that restaurant reopened last wednesday. >> sheriff office in stment mary county have a lookout for the men and women back in february went to a fedex in waldorf and signed for apple computer. detectives say they paid with a stolen credit card that belonged to a business in hollywood, maryland. >> talk about a sticky situation. d.c. fire firters had to rescue a man that fell inside a trash chute. it happened in the 700 block of 7th street northwest somewhere near the verizon center an apartment building there the man threw out his trash and thought he dropped his cellphone down the chute when he lend in to check he accidentally fell inside h himself. sc

top of the show. and severe weather days and there's always the chance of isolated tornado. i don't think we'll see that again this evening and whenever we have warnings issued we want you all to take it easy and be safe out there and we have a storm moving through d.c. now. let's look at stormtracker radar. not much. this is final push of cooler air moving through that will bring us nice weather by tomorrow. but, these widely skatserred thunderstorms have produced one on top of us in the districts. zooming in on the beltway heviest part of the storm from bethesda to norp sections of d.c. and this severe thunderstorm warning is set to expire in a minute. but it may be extended further northeast ward. you can see as it pushes into more southeastern parts of montgomery county and will eventually move into prince george county. we'll see if the warning is extended. for now it doesn't look like. it you have heaviest rain and lightning on northern end of storm crossing beltway east of spur. so no one is moving in that intersection and then the heavy rain that extends down

momentarily as we put a track on the storm it's moving north east ward and fairly quickly 25 to 30 miles an hour and next couple minutes chillum and wheat an and sebs of north eastern burlington and south of baltimore. that's really the only storm overhead. one near charlottesville and one kim better land maryland. and it's passed over the past four hours producing severe weather in pennsylvania. and just a few but strong thunderstorms crossing from western maryland to d.c. itself and once that moves through later this evening we won't have any more storms over night and we will see nice warm for tomorrow. so 88 outside right now. 90 baltimore. 91 annapolis and 90 westminster and 90 frederick. it was hot today. not as humid as over the weekend and enough to generate storms with clash of air masses. not at

we have the storm over us moving northeast ward over baltimore and storm over charlottesville moving to k kolle ownial beach. heads unsouthern maryland if this is true you see a heavy storm next half hour or 45 minutes and fast forward 9 p.m. this is actual fronts. you have prefrontal storms. the actual front coming in at 10 p.m. and another round of rain. i think finally after 10:00 watch storms cross the bay and move over places like st stevensville maryland. again i think after 10 p.m. we'll be okay. you could see clear skies and high pressure building in and by early tomorrow morning maybe cloud cover to north. it should be pretty nice. and 72 overnight. widespread 60s as we have much less humid and much more pleasant tuesday. we have high pressure north in place that north westerly flow bringing a feel to air we have not felt in a

>> reporter: it did, a very concentrated area. i've been in a lot of tornado scenes and aftermath situations and this is always whawl it looks like hours after the storm passes. crews are out and they're leaning up and doing what they can do to get everything back and literally standing on high spot here i want to you see the town homes here that took brunt of damage one took damage jenny lives there they were at the beach and directly next to her those neighbors at the beach as well. those two town homes you see the kitchen through the wi window. my goodness the back of the bathtub you see into the house. that's the bed and master bedroom and mattress and again all of this is so typical of tornado damage. you have two by fours acting as project tiles and missiles if you will into the sides of houses and things wow not typically see you see in this situation. right here in this town home with a back -- with a roof and whole back lifted up it was a family at home there. they were sleeping. abou

the destruction and sound that woke them up. they tried to get to baby's bedroom. they couldn't. they hunkerred down and thank goodness their baby is okay. she was in the crib and covered with debris but okay. and if there's anything that's remark basketball this is nobody was hurt. matter of fact that's their mattress there sitting on their duck and kick size bed that's was smripd over. they got out of the bed in time thank goodness. decks were ripped from town homes and moved 50, 06 yards away and guys cleaned them up and put them in the pile over there. we talked to jeany on vacation and when she heard this happened to her house she got back here and this is reaction she had. >> i can't even believe this i cannot even believe this. that's our deck. that's our furniture over there. >> we're the second in. >> so relatively speaking. >> relatively not as bad as these two. ou
