becoming so divided along party lines. >> we've been spinning our wheels on too many important issues because we keep trying to find a way to win from across the aisle. without any support the other side, with all the parliamentary man eufers it requires. we're getting nothing done, my friends. now the president celebrated the vote today. he's repeatedly said he's going to sign any repeal vote that comes to his desk. we're going to talk about russia right now. the senate judiciary committee has rescinded its subpoena that would have compelled former trump campaign manager man forth to testify at a committee. it might happen in september. man forth met with the

is also conducting an investigation into meddling into the election. some topics they want to talk about man forth was the meeting that they met with the russian lawyer that ms properred dirt on hillary clinton h. he was answering questions from the house intelligence committee. yesterday he answered questions behind closed doors with a senate panel and no big surprise his father-in-law threw his support behind him tweeting out this morning, jared kushner did very well in proving he did not dough included with the witch hunt. next up 11 year old barron trump. we're pretty sure he was kitting there. they're moving forward with new sanctions for russia. they pass ed a a billion that punished russians for election meddling. the billion goes to the senate where an earlier version easily passed. if you get up this morning like i do, any morning you want to see what

weak position on hillary clinton crimes. where are e-mails and d nc server on intel leaks. the president is criticizing sessions for not going after hillary clinton even though he himself backed off the calls to lock her up almost immediately after he was elected. here's what he said during an interview as president elect. remember this? she did some bad things, but that special prosecutor. i don't want to hurt them. i don't want to hurt them. they're good people. i don't want to hurt them. i will give you a very, very good and definitive answer the next time we do 60 minutes together. >> meantime jeff sessions is not the only white house staffer whose future is under speculation tonight. there are rumors of an appending recollection it. state left. the secretary of state apparently taking sometime off. the state department's spokesperson asked about where the

victory given where they've been . the first amendment which they voted on tonight which was a mcconnell package that had cruz language in it and some language to help some of the states that senator port man was interested in failed. it did not have a full score by this the cbo so it had to get 60 votes but it only got h three anyway so it would not have pass ed even if it had been on the simple majority. but that will give you a sense of where they are in the disee bates right now and where they are trying to put together an alternative. they have to finish up 20 hours of debate which will finish up thursday sometime. any senator can offer any amendment they want that is within the boundaries of the budget act and the responsibilities of the budget act and could get a vote on that . they will not be able to debate these at length, but they will be able to get them up and offer them for votes. that will take place thursday and friday and as long as the senators decide they want to
11:45 pm
the next amendment they'll take up is one by senatorrance situate and senator rand paul which i believe is going to be an amendment that is just simply a repeal of obama care. that would be voted on probably sometime tomorrow morning. and then there's going to be a motion to commit by senator donnelly and that ill with be voted on sometime in the afternoon. so they started the process. >> as we talk about senator mccain there was a lot of attention paid to his speech on the floor today talking about reaching out to the other side of the aisle. there were some real issues here that we may find some common ground. do you think there's a series concerted effort to work in ideas from both sides and come up with something that you might get a majority vote on? at this point i don't see that happening. the fundamental differences where the democrats are which is to hold onto government control of the
11:46 pm
where most republicans are, in fact where all the republicans are, the details are the issue is to change it where families and their doctors get to what they need, what sort of policy they want and have that worked out with their doctor. that is a pretty significant change. at this point none of the democrats seem inclined to work to change it in that dwreks. so at this point i think what you'll see is they'll continue through mostly with the bart san amendments on both sides. however, at some point as they move forward on healthcare after this billion is done, if they pass it they will then go to a conference. if they don't pass it it will be set on the back burner and there will be some things that have to be done on the healthcare to make sure the system stands. there are a lot of states, a lot of counties in

nobody to ensure them. you can't buy insurance if there is no insured. there is a large number that only have one insured which means there's no competition in price. so there are going to have to be some things done whether this billion \success\succeeds or fails on the senate floor to sustain the system in order to move forward when you get to that point then you might find that there are some efforts to put things together and p to work across the aisle to do some of the things that senator mccain was referring to in his speech today >> i wish we had more time because we talked about this quite a bit. i appreciate you staying up late tonight. we'll be watching this. dave hospital i. we're back after this on the final five. z2e2hz z1a2z
