>> ♪ >> well, we've learned that this is just another day in washington. more tweets from the president and his new press secretary sent the capitol and everybody on the hill into a frenzy. >> oh, yeah. as you can see from the rundown as usual this is the big story we're talking about tonight at 6:30, you guys are as usual always welcome to join us. tweet us using its #5at630. no doubt we have a lot to cover. key republican senators warning president trump if he fires attorney general jeff sessions and moves against special counsel robert mueller it could be the beginning of the end of his presidency. >> yeah, this was a big one this morning. it is still percolating out there. fox5's tom fitzgerald live with more details on this. hey fitz. >> reporter: yeah, jim, shawn it goes further than

they don't want him to just not fire jeff sessions they want this cyber bullying to come to an end and this call today is coming from two heavy weights, not on the democratic side of the united states senate, on the republican side. last night charles grassley chairman of the senate judiciary committee sent out a tweet and it said this that the senate judiciary committee schedule is set for the remainder of the term and then he got to a point where he said ag no way. what's that mean? well, that's a pretty strong sign that charles grassley is not about to be scheduling any attorney general confirmation hearings when he just did that about six months ago for jeff sessions. so, the word there from grassley, don't bring another nominee because my committee is not going to move on any sort of nomination. if you fire jeff sessions. now, then that came with a one-two punch and that was from lindsey graham this

sessions got into immediately after his confirmation hearing because of the things he said and then later had to recuse himself in the russia investigaion, there is a still a very strong wellspring of good feeling towards jeff sessions in the united states senate. he is one of their own. he served the state of alabama for decades in that body and senators don't take a liking normally to other senators even former senators being treated in the way that jeff sessions has been lately, so it's likely we're going to see more not less of these kinds of things coming out of the republican side if this continued onslaught against jeff sessions continues by the president. >> hey fitz we were following yesterday that story about the guy who replaced jeff sessions luther strange that said jeff sessions come back to the senate. i'll drop out of the race. it's crazy when you start talking about that layer of the story. it's crazy but i've seen it before. 20 years ago when bob torricel

put not give up the passionate fight for donald trump's agenda. this is about the fact that scaramucci says he's going to crack down on leaks from inside the administration. >> and this all stemmed from him putting out a tweet last night that seemed to imply reince preibus leaked scaramucci's financial disclosure. >> he's a successful man. >> yeah but he said that that tweeter getting out that information was a felony. turns out that is not true. under federal law those sort of documents must be made public. so now it's like what happens now. scaramucci hasn't even officially taken over this job. fox5 it's ronica cleary is live at the white house with more on this war of words and the crackdown on leaks tonight. ronica. >> reporter: that's right, jim and shawn. i was just thinking maybe part of the reason that donald trump selected scaramucci is because he seems to like twitter just as much as he does and jim, you just pointed out to the tweet that just came out but let's take a step back to help paint the picture of how this all started. it started about

last night. i didn't realize when i screen grabbed the tweet it would have been important to have done so because it was soon deleted. look at this. it says in light of the leak of my financial disclosure info which is a felony and as shawn said we've learned that that information was actually public record i will be contacting the fbi and the justice department #swamp and then he includes reince preibus in it. now, that, you know, raised a lot of you eyebrows and had people asking is he tagging reince preibus to sort of suggest that he is the leaker? well, he deleted the tweet and early this morning around 12:45 he posted this next tweet responding to that. he goes wrong tweet was public notice to leakers that all senior admin officials are helping to illegal tweets and then tags reince again. well, fast forward to early this morning on cnn. he calls in to basically address all of this and broke it down into really two main take aways. what does he think about reince preibus and then what does he think about the leaks in the bigger picture. take a
