tonight with non life threaten ing injuries. police ar rested the 17 year old sus pejtedded gunmen several hours later. police are not releasing his name because he is a jufer niel. the search continues now for the man who stabbed a woman in the neck while she was out for a walk this morning in fairfax county. she was on a path near vaid den descrief. the victim didn't know the man. she got away from him and got help. tonight she's in the hospital recovering. today president trump awarded the prestigious medal of valor to some local heros. five first responders received the medal. it recognizes the group's her oak actions during last month's shooting in alexandria. david bailey and crystal grind eras well as alexandria officers nicole what tal yeah, kevin jobe anal commander general sen. the officers are credited with

members and others including steve scalise. capital police, special agents, david bailey and crystal grinder race through the bullets and that's exactly what they did. they raised through the bullets. and immediately engaged the gunman. minutes later, members of the alexandria police department arrived on the scene. these officers \safe\saveed the lives of every innocent person on the field that day steve scalise is now out of the hospital. he will now begin a period of intensive rehoob. doctors say he is in good spirits and is looking forward to returning to work. coming up next, a fears disee bates over a high school with a controversial name. that's right, fox5's kristin leone is live in falls church tonight. any word on the vote? >>reporter: no word yet on that vote,

for the last year it's been a heated debate in falls church over a controversial name. that's right, the school board spent hours tonight whether to change the name of a high school named after a confederate general jeb stuart. >> there was an economy that was based on savory and we can all condemn that. as far as jeb stuart, jeb stuart was not an owner of

contention shoes disee bates even between board members. it's been a two hour today bielt . board members have been talking for the last two hours or so also hearing like i mentioned before, from the public as well on whether or not to change the name. essentially two motion, it took quite a turn in there, two motions took place , the first motion to make the name change tonight, so again to change the name of jeb stuart high school, but then a second motion was made by another board member, also a variety of board members in support of that one to essentially delay the name change of tonight and delay that to october. well, that that was put to a vote as of 20 minutes ago and as of 20 minutes ago that vote failed. so again that vote failed to change the name or to, i should say, delay the name change going forward. right now there are still in there. they're still hearing from the board members right now on whether to

the man accused of following a woman off the bus and attack her in her home. milton ride is accused of following a woman off the the bus that stopped near the suitland metro station tuesday following her to her apartment, forcing his face in and hitting her by the face and then grabbing her by the neck and raping her. they shorted through footage to identify right and arrest him. detective s stayed up the whole time and didn't rest until they were able to track h this guy down and get him off our streets because he what is obviously not 100 percent welcome in our community. the victim identif ied milton right as her attacker. policethink there could be any victims out there. they're now asking anyone else who may recognize him to come forward. all rides at the ohio state fair are still closed following a malfunction on the fire ball rievmentd the 18 queer old was killed when the ride broke apart in mid air and sent passengers flying off. witnesses described the

of the past. a new study by careerbuilder finds 75 workers in the district think a nine to five workday is out dated. over all three and five workers say the tradition l al nine to five workday is long gone. the belief varies by age, 68 percent between 45 and 54 compared to 4o 24. and those in the leisure and hospitality industry are most likely to agree with that. those in the tv industry would agree with you as well. we don't work nine to five. with the federal government it's gone here pretty much. i thought the study was going to say that's because people prefer to the two to four shift. two to four in the afternoon. who wouldn't like that.

. a fisherman in long island caught a shark and it put up the fight of its life during the struggle the shark ended upup pg on the boat and got caught up in the guardrail and then cut through it. eventually the fish man was able to cut the shark loose, but what a spacy scene. nasa just launched its newest app that helps people share their experience during the upcoming solar eclipse. it will show people how to analyze the weather during the eclipse. what impact a future eclipse could have on the environment. the eclipse is a very rapid change in the atmosphere and we are working to model how those changes occur. all the collect ed data will be recorded and displayed on an interactive map and then people can see what others around the country are experiencing during the big he eclipse. southwest airlines
